Great video, one of the most Beautiful 58 IMPALA'S I've seen, that Red really looks great, Chevrolet built some CLASSICS in the 50's and 60's, I was 7 years old when this car came out, my Uncle had a new 56 Chevrolet, Red and White it was nice, THANKS for sharing, Excellent video on a True CLASSIC 58 IMPALA!

FALSE. 4 speed manual transmissions were available in full size Chevrolet cars in 1957.

Ha ha....of course '57 large cars had 4 speeds lol, but the first year Impala for 58, many argue they never made 4 speeds.... however, as you see in the video there was a late year RPO for 4 speed Impala transmissions......and very precious few were made, and even fewer tri power 4 speeds in a convertible no less! 🏁🏁🏁

4 Speed was available in 1957 1/2 in Corvette only, it was introduced the same time the 283/283 FI option was available. The 4 speed was thought of in ‘58 but never produced. A few were refitted at Milford Proving Grounds but were not offered to the public. The engine machine pad in this car should indicate machining date. My assembly manual shows same info, there is no record of pricing on price lists dated after 2/1958. Shifter is out of a 1959 which is production option. I would like to see the Chevy produced Price List that gives the dealer and retail price of RPO 685. If you study the history of the ‘58 you will find out that Chevy design spotted the Chrysler Corp.Styling prototype and changed direction, hence the ‘59 fin design. Options were dropped on the ‘58 to focus on the ‘59 model.
