As a student artist who’s been drawing abstract works, I too find Delaware’s world to be trippy as hell in good ways. The music and visuals add up unsettling sense of unknown fear and weirdness that just cannot be described in normal view. Kudos to mod’s creators.
Whoever put the textures down must be the most patient person alive, to sync up all the moving textures like that must've be infuriating, i can barely line up still textures
I was thinking that too. Like dayum. How'd they get it to line up in the arching doorway so perfectly. They had to have aligned the walls, ceilings, and floors, and have it scroll.
@@tobiasgerhardt7604 whoever made GZDoom was a fucking wizard then because we're taking a game from the late 80s and suddenly there's this stuff WITHOUT compromising.
Take a page out of league of legends sona. One is straight up attack, one is movement/moves you along, one is a shell or defense, then you have your ult. Since this is a doom mod you can use each as a requirement into new areas and the final "ult" , Alters everything and flips it on it's head.
It looks like a kind of old school depiction of cyberspace ala System Shock 1. Combined with the music I can't help but feel this kind of "WELCOME TO THE CYBER FUTURE HACKER" mood coming from it.
An idea I had right off the bat would be to have the game start in near total ambiant silence. The only noises being you, your weapon, and your enemy and their weapons. Each track adds a beat that builds up to the music that plays while you fight the level boss. It's not a lot but I personally think it would add to the game.
Holy shit. I played this game/mod years ago after finding it on some neat little indie game showcase blog that I've since lost the link to. I tried to find it again not too long ago but for the life of me couldn't remember the name. I had begun to suspect I dreamt it all, glad to see that wasn't the case.
Just played this the other week what a massive coincidence you've made a video now haha. I really enjoyed it tbh a very abstract and unique use of the engine let alone the surreal environment. I wish we got more stuff like this!
So is this a Doom mod or standalone game? The download seems to be a prepackaged Zdoom but it's not clear if it'll work with any newer engine. EDIT: It works in regular gzdoom with gzdoom -files delaweare.wad
First thing I thought of when seeing this? This little Sprawl quote - the one that must've started it all for some people. "The sky above the port was the colour of television, tuned to a dead channel."
It’s a damn shame that this is so short and simplistic in map design, because all other aspects are phenomenal. I hope that this is a demo for an even greater project to come.
I've seen something similar in a Level Collab called "Shut Up and Get On It"/"SUGOI" for SRB2, but this feels more unique than just having black and quite lines moving around in a single texture replaced all over the map.
Damn, the negative black and white one was really cool. I'm glad the other visual effects didn't last too long because MY EYES, THAT COLOR SATURATION, AAAAAAAA
WELL THANK FUCK YOU DIDN'T DIE OR ANYTHING!!! Dude this is my Fave series on the entirety of youtube, I love the sense of humour. ffs m9 MOOOOOOOOORE!!!!
Played it after seeing this video. The music was great. The weird thing is though I collected them in this order: 1, 4, 3, 2. And as a result I feel like weapon 4 was the best while the others were useless in comparison. So there was no reason to even walk around with the other weapons out and hear their music. And they all share the same ammo pool, so there really is no reason to ever use other weapons. I had to just stand in place for a while and I decided I'll listen to the songs later by cracking open the wad or pk3. I played on Hardmode, so the only way to survive was run around with weapon 4 and take potshots at them from cover. Weapon 3's music was awesome but I couldn't handle the chaos of dodging so many enemies while also trying to accurately hurl a slow moving arching projectile. It may have been more doable on easier difficulties. Would've been better if the worlds were full of puzzles and more fun combat. I was thinking of another mod called nullspace and another called void. And I'd actually prefer it to be slightly more linear by making me collect the weapons in order of effectiveness. Each subsection of the world could be big and open but have some connection between. I'm not even sure I liked the fact that the music changed when I switch weapons. I wanted to keep listening to the music while exploring. Maybe have it be area based as usual, but then again it was an interesting experiment.
I want a procedurally generated FPS where you can choose a song off your computer, and the game will make a map based on it. Like I can choose "this is america" by Childish Gambino from my mp3 folder and it would make a map based on that.
+Michael Persico You could make an oblige level creator plugin for doom that randomly generates levels based on MIDI files you put into it. Like every note it adds a new level structure from a category based on the note's pitch.
Looks cool; I have a weird fondness for the video game/EP concept, and I'd like to see it done more frequently. Could be a good alternative to the standard music video.
Wow. Call me crazy but there was a game for the PS2 were you are some sort of floating humanoid being made of geometrical objects and you shoot with your hands and use the music to hit the target. But it was long ago and I can't remember the name.

As a Delawarean myself, this is exactly how daily life looks.
Can confirm, this is quite correct.
What part of Delaware are you from? There are _way_ too many hills for this to be Delaware.
Lived in Delaware my entire live, can confirm this is correct.
Very accurate, you don't need drugs here, it's in the air and water.
Are you real
If it's still showing as unlisted for anyone then I don't know why, someone yell at TH-cam for me, I'm busy being a drunk Dwarf in a D&D game tonight.

The uninterpolated animations remind me of Hylics.
I have no idea how this slipped under my radar. I love mods that do something other than the doom aesthetic.

This looks like a world inside Ultimate Doom's floppy disks. Each map is one floppy disk, and you must proceed through IDDQD

Just what I always needed: A mod guaranteed to give me a migraine.

My thoughts exactly! It's an interesting concept and art style and certainly beautifully done, but I'm really having trouble just watching this.
Thats just how it is in delaware
The concept makes me think of REZ on dreamcast
Imagine if music

I think this quote from Indiana Jones summarises it best: “it belongs in a museum!”… or would it be ‘art gallery’ in this case?
