    Yes, definitely nurses, they are often overlooked in the healthcare, but for the amount of their physical work and rigorous schooling they are the main backbone of our healthcare field!

    • @MadMedicine
      @MadMedicine  5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Nurses are the healthcare system. Period haha. They’re probably the most important part of the team (aside from the patient of course haha)

    I feel like medical/clinical laboratory scientist/technologist are the backbone of health care. More then 70% of diagnosis and treatments of patients come from medical/clinical laboratory scientist/technologist. It is such an underrated career and far more overlooked then CNA’s. Not saying that CNA’s aren’t amazing because they are but CNA’s get more credit them CLS/MLS/MLT’s do. Plus it’s severely understaffed.

    Love this! Came here from Rashid’s channel! I had originally wanted to go into medical school but I didn’t want to be in THOUSANDS of dollars in debt because that is the reality of medical school. So I did discover the PA route so I was so excited when I saw you put this on your list! I’m still working on my bachelors degree in biology but I’m excited to go the PA route! :)

    i remember asking my pharmacist that i was thinking of becoming a pharmacist since i was already a pharmacy tech and he looked at me and was like " Don't do it girl, save yourself" and i died laughing. i understood why though, pharmacists do a lot for us and make sure no mistakes are made! but i always felt bad because, they are always stressed and people don't understand the pressure they go through. Some customers are the worst too! Cursing and taking advantage of us! one thing is certain though, if you want to be in the healthcare field you MUST have thick skin!!!

      GJust wonderful, been searching for "doctorate degree in alternative medicine" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Genharlotte Kania Rule - (should be on google have a look )? It is a great one off guide for mastering alternative medicine without the hard work. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my colleague got great success with it.

      And yeah I’m gonna do Vlogs but I’m gonna restart those in a minute. I want to do more interviews with my peers because otherwise you’re only seeing my point of view. I’d rather people get several different points of views from medstudents and doctors from different backgrounds.

    Ik Physical Therapists don't make that much, however, that is the best option for someone such as myself who is going to come out of PT school with no debt (thanks to my parents for paying all it off). Anyone in my case should really look into that career. I truly believe salary is the only major con in contrary to the many great things a career in PT has to offer.

    Great info. It would have been nice to see nurse practitioners on the top 5 list. In some state nurse practitioners can have their own clinic without a collaborating/supervising physician. However, some states still require the collaborating/supervising physician, but the nurse practitioner has the option to work in a hospital, clinic, urgent care, retail health, insurance companies, etc... The job outlook is great for nurse practitioners, and they are also filling the void like PA's due to the shortage of primary care physicians.

    • @MadMedicine
      @MadMedicine  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know. NPs are integral to the team especially where there is a primary care shortage because that’s something we all need. I wanted to put them in but there’s only so many spots in the top 5 haha but definitely top 10!

      k lk I’ve always had the same concern and the providers that I’ve worked with (MD, DO, NP, PA) have been in family medicine, internal medicine, specialty offices like neurology, endocrinology, ortho, etc, or even concierge medicine, travel clinics, and online visits. If you want to go really extreme, volunteering in third world countries for a short or long amount of time. Places like Project Cure make it so you can spend $1,000-$2,000 to go to places like Africa, Brazil, Paraguay, and Nicaragua and they will provide you with housing, food, and clean drinking water. Volunteering is definitely not a paid career but it’s something you could do on the side outside of a hospital setting.

    What about research lol?

    • @MadMedicine
      @MadMedicine  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Research is amazing but i had to exclude it for several reasons. Research is a great profession but unfortunately it takes a while to get into. Not to mention the pay often is not that high as compared to some of the other professions. Finally i also excluded it because often, it is really hard to do research on your own. Getting the funding for the equipment and materials is really difficult and that is why many people tend to conduct research in a university facility or setting. Often that reduces the control you have over the work you want to do.
      I don’t want to discourage you if you want to go into research. I think it is a super important field that is very rewarding and highly important. The breakthroughs that come from research are the reason why we have the technology and medicine we have today!

      Noooo! There is still a huge need! It seems like it in some places but depending on where you live and what you want to do, there’s still a huge need for nurses!

      Actually no :) there is always going to be a need for nurses. As a new crop passes boards and prepares to go into the workforce, an older crop of nurses who have been in the field for decades, prepares to go into retirement. It’s like a revolving door. I currently work in a hospital that is experiencing a shortage at the moment. They are offering some major incentives just to attract great nurses.
