    This is the most offensive and ill informed insight into tattooing i have EVER seen! What the hell was this doing on TV? No gloves, home made needles, shoddy line work, terrible shading. I am not even a tattooist and i know this.

      Guy Richardson well I am a tattoo artist and I couldn't agree more, however this is a very old tape.

      I know it used to be common practice to make your own needles. They did at least show them being autoclaved which sterilizes them. It’s normal to handle the needles without gloves pre-autoclave. Your artist should always have gloves on when tattooing you though. I learned to make needles in my apprenticeship just to appreciate what used to go into the craft. I don’t use the ones I made though lol, Still, most of this is tattoo is pretty shoddy imo lol.

    I wish they had picked a cleaner looking setting/ artist for this segment. All this does is reinforce negative stereotypes about getting inked. People from all walks of life/ income levels/ age groups are getting tattoos these days. They are the ultimate artistic form of self expression. A lot of information was misrepresented here - a good shop can be quite classy, clean, and have true artists working.

    When using anything that has to do a tattoo it is best to wear gloves meaning when you clean the machine, clip cords and work area. I then after doing all that wash and changed my gloves again to prevent cross contamination before administering the tattoo. Also putting vasaline on the tip of the gun helps with the needle to enter the skin just as much as putting it on the person I am tattooing. The guy here can also get better line work I really see this person having to come back in a month or 2 saying her tattoo line work is faded.

    The reason they do this is because people would repetitively take off the bandage to show their friends, but I agree with your statement. Mine got wrapped in plastic wrap when i first got it for that very reason and I can see why because many people wanted to see it and ripping a band aid off over and over would just suck lol.

    I got my first tattoo last year for my 17th birthday. :) it's the Akatosh symbol from the Elder Scrolls series. The version I have is from Oblivion, and is to show my love for the series, and my brothers who introduced it to me. :) not a day goes by where I regret it.

    its a machine. it operates in almost the same way as a sewing machine. it injects ink into the skin by puncturing the skin. it does not shoot ink into the skin. they are not called guns, they are called machines. trust me i know.

    yea when your tattoo heals if its a good tattoo, make well by the artist, the scab wont just fall off, that may leave holidays or pull ink from the image, it should be taken care of, that way it will eventruly flake off, not scab off. they forgot to mention scratching and picking damages images as well.

  • @grim123567
    @grim123567 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very misinformed and incorrect video. It's a machine not a gun. Disposable products are much better to be used instead of self manufacturing and not using gloves. The tattoo does scab in some cases but its flakes of it doesn't fall off. Plastic wrap is terrible its suppose to be bandaged. Also the tattoo machine doesn't "inject" the ink it pushes the ink to the dermis. Injecting would be a hollow needle with a syringe like attachment squirting the ink into the dermis.

      Tattoos are strange thing when it come to pain. There are a couple things that happen. Severe pain (usilly in places that do not have allot of contact with things other than cloths or skin) Pain displacement ( you know they are tattooing in one place but the pain is in a area that isn't being touched at all). No pain at all and reverse of pain but tickles. It is funny when you have to tell a person to stop laughing because it tickles. Also having people with a light hand help with the pain.

      All of the information in this video is about 40 years out of date for starters, modern tattoo artists don't have to make their needles they are available to buy from reputable suppliers and the equipment he was using is filthy (look at all the encrusted old ink on the tube eewwww) there are numerous other stuff wrong but as a tattoo artist of 11 years it would take too long to explain all that was wrong lol

    The artist should not have put plastic wrap over the tattoo.. Tattoos need to be covered with a (preferrably sterilized) bandage until the skin has completely healed to prevent unwanted infections.

    • @MsWannabeGamer
      @MsWannabeGamer 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tattoo artist should apply a bandage over the tattoo, but it should not stay on. That's the worst thing you can do. Take off the bandage when you come home and don't cover it again. You will get an infection if you keep it covered. Also, plastic wrap increases the chances of an infection, since it doesn't soak up plasma, blood and ink like a bandage does. It keeps them on the surface of the skin which is an ideal breeding ground for bacteria.

    • @joelkennedy3063
      @joelkennedy3063 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you both for providing the correct information :)

    • @MsWannabeGamer
      @MsWannabeGamer 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** You can always wet the bandage a bit and then gently pull it off once it comes off easily. If it's wet, then the only part that comes off is the part that you would have removed whilst cleaning it anyway. That shouldn't be a problem, right?

    • @edalvarado3141
      @edalvarado3141 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We stopped using bandages in the early 2000's. Saran Wrap is clean enough to wrap food that goes inside your body good enough for the outside.

    • @anthonyperez6344
      @anthonyperez6344 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joel Kennedy the plastic wrap is only for you to get home and wash it.... not intended to stay on for hours. I have found that if I got.home immediately after my tattoo, shower with very hot water and once I can stand it let the water run over the new tattoo for about 7-10 minutes. This helps pores open causing blood and plasma to rush the surface. I notice recovery times are faster if I do this. Usually a week after I'm fully healed.
