  • So ever since I got my hands on the new AtGames Legends Ultimate Arcade I have been wondering what CPU is powering this arcade cab but the Heatsink is soldered onto the mainboard so in order to remove it we have to drill or desolder it! and in this video, I finally get the heatsink off the board and find out what Cpu and how much ram this cabinet is rocking! Is it RockChip, Allwinner Amlogic? Let's find out.

Generally, if you have the ability to cleanly drill out the studs, it is safer than desoldering (both can be done safely, yes - one is just lower risk to the board)

Very interesting that it's somewhat comparable to the Android TV. Yes, it has a custom PCB and you also have the license rights to play arcade games. The one thing I do like with this cabinet vs the Arcade1up that you mentioned before is the height of the cabinet.
Not a bad price however I'm looking forward to seeing you change parts out (if you plan on it). Thanks for the video!

My guess was pretty close. I was in the same market segment. I guessed it was one of the Amlogic S905 variants. The A53-based chips at about 1.5ghz are pretty capable for this sort of emulation and I don't recall seeing anything that would make me guess that it was something higher. I think there's still a good bit of time before we see a jump in power in the lower market segment.

I want to install Ultimarc mag stick plus joysticks on this because you can change to 4way and to 8way from the top with out opening the back up and moving the gates. I also was thinking of changing to Servostick that Ultimarc makes that changes the state 4way to 8 way of a press of a button but gets a little more complicating and have to use outside pc to program them. I don't know if you can do this to wiring one up. What are your thoughts?

Hello, love your videos! Have you heard, or had any experience with, the freezing issues many seem to have on these? I just bought a generation 1.0 machine last weekend and it freezes constantly. Says "security chip: NG" on the health page. Most say that it's a board issue. Sounds like a memory bleed or bad RAM to me. Can't believe there's not a fix for this.

Thanks for showing this. I was really wanting one but was balking at the $500-600 dollar price tag. I dont really think the CPU used justifies the price tag to buy one honestly. I think I'm going with my original plan to buy a gutted arcade machine for $100 and use my own computer to build a mame machine for emulation. Why can’t we get a console or product that can play Dreamcast and above.

I think part of that is due to DC emulation still needing some work. With products like this, manufacturers don't have much incentive to go with higher-end CPUs when their cost is a big concern. TV box chips like the 3328 are very inexpensive and can emulate a lot of things so it's a good trade off. But there are ways to do Dreamcast with some products or boards.

Well you can buy a $400 1up that has a pcb that plays a total of 4 games if that floats your boat with controls that only fit those games and that you have to mod to do anything with

I 100% agree.... I scratch build one of my Bartops for less than $100... if this was sold for $300ish it might be worth not sourcing all the parts.... but noway at $499 .... well unless someone wants to gift it to me.... ;)

Pretty sure AtGames doesn't want anyone to develop for their arcade systems....
but whatever. Thanks for potentially destroying your stuff so we could see whats inside!. It is very interesting see how hardware is used in these devices.

So at Games build it with cheap trash chip and ram thats why they made it none removable then charger Canadians 899.00 plus taxes over a thousand for 4years extended warenty and with pin ball buttons for the 1.1. The price i paid for this is embarrassing to find this out have you seen how cheap these parts are at games has along way to go extremely disappointed is a understatement. I just hope it lasts and well aware moving parts fail but these cheap chip and ram is so lame
