I guess it's left to me to explain what he did not. For those of you that who have watched this video and are confused as to how he was able to recover data from an encrypted drive, here you go. The answer is pretty simple, he didn't, the first half of the video is explaining how to encrypt your drive and then once he starts the second half he decrypts the drive so it no longer is protected by a key. Generic recovery tools are not designed to deal with encrypted drives. If you're drive is encrypted you cannot get the data off of it without the key. That aside, if your drive is encrypted and you need the date off of it but don't have the key there is still a way to get the data off the drive. MIT did a, for lack of better term demonstration, where they took a clone of a drive and tried to brute Force the key. Once the drive was locked out for too many attempts they just made a new clone of the drive and picked up where they left off. Eventually finding the right key.
Valuable information! Thank you, Logan! I'm a Mac user since 2016 and discontinue to follow the newest things about Windows, and now I'm in process of finding a Real, Working, and Secure solution for file/disk encryption for Windows 11. If BitLocker can be hacked with brute force so easily, can you recommend some other solution? I'm a web programmer and for storing passwords, I use one hashing algorithm Bcrypt - the interesting thing about this algorithm is that has a slowdown mechanism that makes brute force super hard ( almost impossible for a reasonable amount of time and long passwords ) even on modern GPUs.

This is such a Disingenuous and Misinforming Video. You can't unlock or recover files from a locked/encrypted drive. We are a few years away from having that technology.

I'm running Win 11 Pro. I have Bitlocker enabled on my system. I'm trying to use BitLocker to Go to encrypt some flash drives. When I right click on the flash drives I don't get the same options he does in the video. Even if I click on "Show more options", I don't get "Turn on Bitlocker" as an option. The USB is formatted in NTFS. Any ideas?
Hi there, Thank you for your question. If you're not able to turn on BitLocker to Go for your flash drive, there are a couple of things you can check. First, make sure the USB drive is not already encrypted or BitLocker-protected. If it is, you won't be able to enable BitLocker to Go for that drive. Another possibility is that BitLocker to Go is not enabled on your system. To check this, go to the Control Panel and select "BitLocker Drive Encryption". Then, click on "Turn on BitLocker" and follow the prompts to enable BitLocker on your system.

You can't recover a disk that is encrypted, what are you on about 🤨 If you decrypt the disk before than yes. If you lose your Encryption Key... Good luck!
So programs like Recoverit or DiskDrill would not find any files on a Bitlocker encrypted drive? (Pardon my ignorance - I am not an IT pro by any means!)
Hi there, thank you for your question. Error code 0x80072f9a usually occurs when there is a problem with the security certificates or network connectivity when trying to connect to a server or update your Windows operating system. Here are some possible fixes to resolve this issue: 1. Check your date and time settings: Incorrect date and time settings can cause issues with security certificates. Ensure that your computer's date and time are set correctly. 2. Check your internet connection: Ensure that your computer is connected to the internet and has a stable connection. You may also want to restart your router or modem to refresh the connection. 3. Disable third-party security software: Some antivirus or firewall programs may interfere with the update process. Temporarily disable these programs and try the update again.
