    Thank you so much for the removal of bass tip. I always felt like the bass on the scratch record caused problems, but I never thought to lower it that much. I'll try later today. Thanks Shortee! I have one of your DVDs from back in the day. Thanks for still teaching us.

      No probs! Check out my FREE Scratch DJ Workouts on TH-cam for the Chirp & the Skribble. 😊 You can learn both of those techniques, how to combine them & more importantly, how to practice your scratches effectively to maximize your results (+ WAAAAAAAY more ;o)
      SCRATCH DJ WORKOUTS: th-cam.com/play/PLEOmkjNrgqU01H8IANoQSIeG0slzok.html 👈 Start with ep 1 - both the skribble & the chirp are in there + loads of extra chirp combo drills in the latter half!
      Those are long videos though -- they're called "Scratch DJ Workouts" for a reason. 😉
      So, if you're short on time, peep my Instagram @DJShortee to learn a the Chirp scratch in under a minute: instagram.com/p/CAYjcr6AQrY/ 👈There's a few other dope cuts on there that you might dig too -- all taught in a minute or less.
      Hope this helps and let me know how it goes! 😀

    Serato has scratch detection that automatically disables keylock when it detects you're scratching and I find it works really well. Has that not been your experience?

    • @djshortee
      @djshortee  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's awesome that you've gotten it to work for you! Unfortunately that has never worked properly for me, or any of my scratch students, or even any of my turntablist peers (including other established DJ educators) that I've discussed this with. I've also been endorsed by Serato since 2005 so I have a lot of experience with the software in general ---> needless to say, this has been a long-term, frustrating issue for me and other turntablists that I know.
      That said, the Serato website clearly says it's supposed to function like that here: support.serato.com/hc/en-us/articles/234962528-Keylock#:~:text=Key%20Lock%20has%20scratch%20detection,left%20and%20right%20decks%20r ...but for whatever reason keylock still always remains on while scratching, which is a bit maddening.
      Maybe it's because most of us typically use the Pitch n' Time Keylock extension rather than the basic default keylock function that looks like a music note which is what's shown in the help doc I linked you to above. But that Pn'T extension is much more advanced so it doesn't make sense that it wouldn't include that essential feature.
      Either way, thanks for the reminder for me to bring it up to Serato HQ to figure out why it's never worked properly with Pitch n' Time! It would be so dope if they fixed the issue and long overdue!! 😊😊😊
