Should of straight cut the existing tarmac would of looked a lot better with a flush line for a new job that’s my opinion but the wall looks good well done lads 🙏🏻
That’s what I call a true Professional wall and watching it being built gave me an insight to how it looked so great. Must give you some pride driving past work you have done. 10/10 👍👏👏
Doesn't get any better than Steve and Alex doing your building-work for you, guaranteed top-quality workmanship throughout. And, as an added bonus, they clear up afterwards! Not every builder does that, and that is why these two guys are a class act. Thanks for taking the time and trouble with all the editing Steve, great job. Keep safe both.
A top class upload of two top Bricklayers showing how much hard work goes in to digging out installing foundation to correct levels and the neat and tidy Brickwork and even the tar work finishes the walll beautifully! Well done guys fantastic wall 👌🏻
Beautiful work a customer is one lucky person when they hire Steve and Alex. I can’t see anyone more talented than you guys are at brickwork. Bravo 👏👏👏👏👏🙂
You're a natural on the camera Steve. I remember your first videos.. a bit like the early days of TV silent movies :-) Glad you kept these going and didn't give up.
Really nice job guys, knocked it out the park again... one criticism, I would of used the wizzer and made a straight joint between the new and old tarmac.
This was a good watch. Really enjoyed it and it makes me want to do our front wall (the last owner removed it). What I mean by that is I would get a brickie in and stand over them saying ‘Steve and Al wouldn’t have done it like that’. Top job again gents 👏
Alex everything comes to him who waits especially cement LOL nice to see you getting on with the job .and I would have the old cobble stones on view any day .thanks for the video
Great work and you sealed the seam between original path and new tarmac to stop water getting in , then freeze and thaw ruining the join. Wish the idiots who fill potholes would do the same. They used to have metal watering can full of hot liquid tar but not anymore and so the patched pothole soon becomes a pothole again.
I like the way you revert to the old 'bucket handle' rather than those plastic interchangeable multi-size option chrome pointing system jobs. Nice job as usual.
I have seen and repaired many freestanding walls, solid and cavity walls. Many were built in the 70s and 80s. Often there is frost damage in the form of peeled and cracked cell bricks with a lack of cover or cover without a water nose. One of the reasons for the damage is due to moisture and frost. Unlike external walls in heated homes, there is no heat source on free-standing walls, so the moisture can only evaporate with the help of the sun and wind. Salt from pavements and roads is also hard on masonry. We repair joints and replace peeled and cracked stones and, for example, provide roller changers with a moisture barrier and cover, e.g. zinc, copper or concrete with profile water nose underneath. We put valves with insect nets in the lower and upper row. Some freestanding walls were too bad to repair and were taken down. I can see from the foundation depth that You do not dig and pour to a frost-free depth, 900mm according to Danish standards, so without knowing your location, I do not suspect that you have so much frost damage to the masonry. Funny to see your different way of having mortar on a slab, on top of a stand and I'm a fan of your support of masonry with the angle/plate you can put on the support columns.
One word lads PERFECTION👍. I always say the last 5% on jobs is what makes the difference to the best trades and attention to detail. Love your work❤ Sorry to hear about your family loss. Regards Russ..
Now that's what I call a very tidy wall. Neat job, very clean & kudos on the tarmac, there's a couple i know that would've filled in with concrete. Until next time chaps, very well done .
Excellent job as always, it turned out lovely. At one point with the petrol I had visions of the tank going up and setting the street on fire 🔥😂...Sorry to hear about your beareavement.
Great video Steve, I wish they could find a slot for your hip cold weather and stretching is doing you no favors. Nice to see Alex is getting out with his mates. Take care both of you Best regards as ever Ken.
Chaps, Its an unequivocal 10 from Me... Sterling and meritorious work - exquisitely crafted. Or as we say, down south, "That`s the f**king -Dogs rear wheels." 🐶🐶 😁😆😆😆👌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍☑☑☑
I have access to over a million free solid bricks, my truck hauls 200 at a time, some have the makers stamp from the 1870's, many of these are in absolute perfect condition, many are wore down, some were used to construct buildings, most were laid on edge as paving (good-video)
Another brilliant piece of work lads. Just one question Steve ( not a criticism ,Im not a builder) but could that brick overhang have continued around the pillar ?
Very good work lads. Those bricks are great definitely think of getting a board with your details on advertising like that works well and brings in work. Take care now both of you Best regards Ken.
Use your wheelbarrow to set fire to your tarmac then you can pour as much fuel in as you want without it flowing out of control on the path way. Also, what helps is leaving the bags of tarmac in your van until its actually time to use them.
Yeah, the brick acid to remove salt marks, I had a few white streaks where the salt leached out so I sprayed it with the brick acid and now have a large white patch, washed it off a few times but still evident.
Your professionalism always amazes me. Most Brickies around here would of said that's job done without the cleanup and tarmac patching. Sounds weird but one day I wish I could have a wall like that 😂. When I bought my house I trusted someone who advised me to have a retaining wall from sleepers when I had my driveway done..it's half rotten already... I told my neighbour not to copy me. His driveway company used a right cowboy shoddy bricklayer...honestly it looks horrendous compared to your work 😮
I thought I’d added a comment about a particular brand of tar repair that I use at work, anyway it’s called viafix comes in 3mm or 6mm tubs, so easy to spread and compacts well, no need to break it up or set it on fire 😂
Nice jobs gents. One thing bothering me. Maybe it's the camera deceiving me, but when you a running in the BOE you had four bricks on the corner by the driveway. The one you were working to. It looks like by the time you get up there you are running into one brick with your pink cuppa on top. Then the camera shows you finishing up from the front angle. Back to four bricks and the pink cup has mysteriously disappeared. Not a criticism, just need to know should I book an appointment with spec savers.
Should of straight cut the existing tarmac would of looked a lot better with a flush line for a new job that’s my opinion but the wall looks good well done lads 🙏🏻

That’s a beautiful wall Steve and Alex. The oversailer detail is a great feature with the blue masonry. Your customers should be delighted.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cheers. They were chuffed to bits 😍🧱👍🏽
The wall is first class but you should of cut a straight line for the tarmac 100%

Drove past this today and looks very nice, the two drives are complete now. Top work lads.
Yes it the drives set it off nice 🙌🏽🙌🏽🧱👍🏽
The brick work is fantastic. I would have drawn a line in the tarmac to square it off so it would have looked even neater.
🧱👍🏽

Good evening, Alex
Hi 👋🏽
Thought u would have put some butterfly ties to tie front to back. As u didn't put any header courses in. Good job.!!
We did 🧱👍🏽
Another brilliant piece of work lads. Just one question Steve ( not a criticism ,Im not a builder) but could that brick overhang have continued around the pillar ?
No it would look rubbish plus it’s a drip to protect the wall . 🧱👍🏽
Well done both of you another brilliant job alex is it worth doing a Liverpool weekender for golden 60s oldies ? Love live 60s music cheers x
🤣🤣🧱👍🏽
Would have looked good with the top three layers of the columns in blue , but still a top-notch job .

Just had a thought. We are supposed to fear a guy with a knife in a dark alley but I think that guy should fear Steve with his trowel. Ha ha

Steve & Alex, lovely wall, how do you use the salt acid as I sprayed it on a patch of my wall and it went all white?
Salt acid 🤔? 🧱👍🏽

What did you use to tie the two skins together as didn’t see you do it.
Tie wires
Forget that, I hadnt got to the end of the video. In my head the bricks were lying flat not on the face
🤨🤔🤷🏼♂️
Have you had your hip op Steve?
No 😔🧱👍🏽
Nice job, but why don't you just cut a nice straight line for the new tarmac to go too. I think it would just finish it off.
To cut that straight would have taken twice as much to patch 🤯
obviously😂 but think it would of just finished it off, When we have to disturb tarmac we always cut straight lines.@@SteveAndAlexBuild
