For me it was not catching the bars that made me really learn the timing. Like just let it drop and ride it no handed for a second. Feels spooky but you will really learn the minimal amount of force and speed needed to spin the bars
Bro, Your videos are AMAZING!!! Best of TH-cam and trust me I’ve seen the ALL. Please keep them coming. Basic grinding would be great. 50/50’s, freebles, etc.
The trick to catching the bars every time is NOT trying to catch them early. Simply lift your catching hand and let the bars come around the full 360. This will eliminate the throwing hand missing. These were easier on mid school bikes with tall seat posts and adjustable seat position. No pegs required just balance. I still have the scars on my legs from pinching the seat 😂.
I have been practicing this the last few weeks and currently able to land it but with my opposite hand on the seat which I pickup seeing a flatlander clip. After watching this video I understand that only works for me because of my weight distribution. I have been trying to work on not holding the seat but unable to complete the rotation and this video made me realize that I am to front heavy when not holding the seat. Going to work on weight distribution, awesome video thanks!
Thanks for the lessons and inspiration. I spotted riding bmx and went to Mtb mid highschool. But at 43 I am going to look at late 90’s Gt show tonight to get back to bmx. Be well,
I really hope u plan to keep posting, your explanations are really good compared to so many other tutorials on youtube. Like it's shockingly hard to find good tuts on some of the more basic stuff but both this and your bunny hop vid are great!
Thanks! I have hop bar and manual videos in the works. The weather is getting a lot better so hopefully I can get everything filmed and edited within the next month or two
Good golly, I feel like I need to learn these, but there is SO much to it! I do remember trying a while back but I couldn't deal with the pain of my knees on the seat. Thanks for the vid, I'll give it another crack. That way, when the kids say, do a bar-spin! I don't have to say that I can't actually do them, haha. Nice one! 🤙
Great tutorial as always. I Was just wondering what height you are and what your bike geometry is? As I’m currently deciding on which BMX to upgrade to and need all the advice I can get before committing. I’m 5,11 and 3 quarters (basically 6 foot) and I’m looking to ride mostly street and some park. Currently looking at a bike with 21 inch top tube, a 12.75 chain stay and 26mm fork offset.
It’s all preference. If you can get to a bmx shop or the park to see what different geometries feel like it will be a big help. I am 6’3 and have a 21.6 with 13.5-14 cs and 25mm offset forks. I’d stay around 21-21.25 at your height. Bars and stems make a huge difference in how much space you have so if you feel really scrunched, you can grab different bars or stem to open up.
Every time I throw my bars or spin them they get caught in my sweatshirt or hit my stomach. I’m guessing this means there to long but what length should the bars be?
There’s no perfect width. I had 30” bars that I could barspin with. Is your sweatshirt getting caught when you are doing them against a wall or when you are actually riding? If you are doing them on the wall, you might need to tuck your shirt in the front

Definitely try playing with the height of your seat a bit! If the edge of the seat is pressing into your bones, these can be really uncomfortable
great channel, thanks for the videos, really good for me as I'm just starting out
where was this guy 3 years ago it took me so long to learn this

@@SlowGrindBMX like let’s say I’m standing on the pedals and just try to rotate the bars 360 they hit me.
@@SlowGrindBMX I just took a tape measure from one side to the other and they were like 27.5 I think
@@SlowGrindBMX I just bought this bike like 3 days ago so idk
