    Fun fact: the reason why it doesn't have a tail as opposed to a dinosaur is because of weight distribution. Dinosaurs had much larger heads and if they didn't have a humongous heavy tail they'd topple over head first trying to walk forward.

      Interesting.

    • @tessabakker662
      @tessabakker662 8 ปีที่แล้ว +138

      That's fascinating! I know that dinosaurs used their tails as counterbalance, but i'd completely forgotten to think why modern birds had _lost_ their tails. No teeth or super-powerful jaw muscles around a heavy skull (since a sharp beak and a good set of claws is all a modern raptor needs), and as such no need for a tail.

    • @dilo19000
      @dilo19000 8 ปีที่แล้ว +72

      I think the tail itself was also lost because of weight loss for flying as well

    Living in Australia we see alot of these birds in zoo's and national parks. Im shocked to see one this calm and open around humans. I'm Papua New Guinean, this bird is native to my land. The ones in Australia are smaller compared to the ones we have here in our jungles. This is one bird you don't want to come across with in the forest especially when the young ones are around, they will pierce your chest with just one blow. They are quite fast for a bird in the thick jungles and mountains, they do KILL HUMANS. Our ancestors use traps to kill the bird for meat and the feathers for traditional attires, it is still a delicacy here. We are also a diverse nation so each tribe, clan, and people have different beliefs and cultural reverence to it. We have traditional dances depicting the bird and "bilas" (traditional costumes) that we wear and dance like the animal. In our main language which is Pidgin, we call it "MURUK". Most sporting teams have this name for their teams in different codes. Its a special bird to us. We have crocodiles and venomous snakes and huge reptiles and constrictors but none of these drive FEAR into us like this bird. DON'T MESS WITH A CASSOWARY.

    Cassowary, infamous for disemboweling humans and forcing Steve Irwin to make a leap up to a viewing platform, when one of them decided they didn't like him very much and this was a guy that wrestled giant salt water crocodiles and tangled with venomous snakes on a daily basis.
    Absolutely love them, but I think my knees would of gone weak to see a living breathing raptor.
    Even though a cassowary is distantly related to a bird of prey, these guys and my wicked little chicken Blondie were just like the raptors.
    Even though the raptors in Jurassic Park size wise were based on the Utah Raptor.

    Guys this doesn't even match to the video but I wrote this paragraph in online class and I want to share it: Businesses can help communities in different ways.Businesses can help others by giving money to charity. In the section about the Hard Rock Cafe, the author wrote in paragraph 8 line 2 "One way the company raises funds for charity is by selling a line of t shirts". Rock stars design the shirts and then their sold on the internet. Part of the money that is raised from the shirts is given to charity. Businesses can help people in need.

    Anyone who thinks feathered diosaurs are silly or not scary has obviously never met a cassowary. Or a rhea, for that matter. One of those haystacks with legs just about scared me right out of my skin when I got to close to her chicks. (There was a hole in the fence that the chicks were escaping through. I was just sitting on the people-side trying to make sure they didn't wander off. Mama rhea didn't see it that way and made this noise like a leaking gas pipe.)
    Heck, *Swans* are scary. Especially a whole flock of them trying to get at the bread bag I'm holding. Each bird could look me straight in the collar bone.
    Or how about Turkeys? Geese, too. Those birds are *mean.* I've even seen tiny little sparrows chase off large predators that got too close to their nests.

The sounds that this bird makes is what a T-Rex sounded like. Closed mouth vocalization for the same purposes. Thank you for the video. Dilophosaurus bird.

      Vangelis Karamela it depends on the kind of dinosaur we’re talking about. Birds are technically the direct descendants of Theropod Dinosaurs (think of Tyrannosaurus, Velociraptor, and most meat-eating dinosaurs), but another animal that is super closely related to dinosaurs are crocodilians.
