How to reset the Electronic Parking Brake on your Renault Grand Scenic 3. A very simple job if you know where to look. My car is a 2009 Renault Grand Scenic.

I hope this comment helps, the clutch pedal position sensor as shown in this video is reset in this way and the video is correct. But what the video doesn't show is that the clutch pedal position sensor should have a plastic arm that attaches to the clutch pedal. This allows it to know where the clutch pedal is to allow the parking brake to release automatically when moving away. So in short a new clutch pedal position sensor (£100 approximately) is required to keep the warning light off and resume normal operation. Hope that helps .
It really does help, mine was completely broken. Once I'd purchased a new from from Renault (it's a Renault only part apparently) I compared the old & the new,the new looked much different.

An aging stop start battery was the cause of the message on my 2016 1.5 dci. Scenic. New battery and an O B D reset now all good.
That's good to hear, there's simply too many computers & gizmos on modern cars, a real pain in the neck.

I had to press down the clutch and kind of push the stick back in under the clutch pedal lever thing. Legend thanks a million, saved me €€€ in mechanic .

£100 easily mate, glad it helped.
Thats far more advanced then the 2004 grand scenic that I used to have. The biggest issue that I used to have was the Ignition coils keep breaking..
The more bells & whistles it has the more can go wrong.
Bring back the ease of the Ford escort.. no complex electronics or on board computer...

What! I did not know that it auto released!!! I have been leaning forward all the time to push the parking brake switch down to release the brake. The problem I have is that when I pull the parking brake lever up after putting my foot on the brake the little light on the lever flashes and then I get the 'check parking brake' sign with the orange spanner light! It clears it's self after opening the door and turning the engine on and off and removing the key fob! It's such a faf!!!
These modern cars want to do too much thinking,that's the real problem.
Does the handbrake automatically come on when coming to a stop at lights for an example or does it only work when pulling off? I’m new to the mk3 scenic
Mine only comes on when I turn the engine off or apply it manually, the Mk3 Scenic is a fantastic car, I'm sure you won't be disaapointed.
Is this similar to dtc41200 Renault master check hill start assist. Can't get to the bottom of it

I don't know I'm afraid,if I recall I had to do it a couple of times to clear the ghastly orange spanner. My next job on my Scenic is link arms & anti roll bar bushes,she's going to a garage for that though.
do you have any idea if this trick also works for a Renault Megane 3 2011 .. I mention that my brake is locked because it is electronic or if there is something that releases the brake manually
I think you can unlock the brakes but it's a bit of pain as I understand it, maybe best to seek help from a mechanic or somebody with experience.

@@viewfromthecab8075 it would cost something, a platform where I paid 100 euros and the total was somewhere around 500 euros, discs changed ... I solved it. This is the reason why I love the Renault group.

It works for me briefly but then switches back to manual. Will have to look further into it.

I don't really know tbh. Maybe your entire switch needs to be replaced? There's not much inside them.

I don't know about the auto version I'm afraid,wasn't much help there was I.
I have done that at the beginning when I have the same issue and it worked a few times but now it doesn’t do it anymore and the light is on all the time now, I hate it, anymore ideas to get rid of that orange spanner light, I slide that lever down a few times but the light doesn’t go out. Grrrr.
You'll probably have to buy a new switch like I had to in the end. Mine cost around £80 from Renault.

@@viewfromthecab8075 Hi .. our car is Renault scenic .. not the Grand Scenic ... Sadly no switch to flip to reset the error 😣 such an annoying fault .. been to garage 3 times .. the say no issue with break .. just a sensor. They clear fault .. drive for a bit .. error comes back !
That really sucks,I had to send mine back to Renault for a new ECU (a parking brake/caliper issue) to the tune of £500. That really hurt.
Ours is sticking on on one side Thai switch on mine is connected to the clutch on that silver but that sticks out your switch hasn’t got the yellow part on like mine strange maybe yours needs sliding onto the silver part to stop it sticking in

I don't have any ideas apart from be careful,the plastic on those switches is very fragile/flimsy/weak.
I ve just had this problem after having a new clutch and slave cylinder I drove if from the garage then did about a thirty mile round trip parked up when I got in my car to drive away I rely on just pulling away and it was how do I discribe stuck in parking brake It eventually moved forward with rubber smell and was ok til I picked up the missus then a sign popped up as your discribing I took the car back to the garage there looking at it I wish I d seen this video before are you a mechanic or just keen on cars

Yeh clutch and slave cylinder just over a grand then I showed me your quick fix they didn't entertain it I wish I d seen your fix earlier
I always go for the cheapskate option first,spending money brings me out in a rash.

Strange thing I have a mate in the trade but he lives too far away to take it to him so I m stuck with a company who sold me it three years ago been buying cars from them twenty yet still not sure I have mates who ve bought from there too who don't trust them and I like the guys but I don't drive like a nutter and nearly two years of lockdown they put it on the computer to see what was up ten faults popped up I said you sold me the car with that he saidd that's cars for you

hi mark. i have 2010 scenic (big problems with parking brake). did you manage to do this manipulation ? on my car this looks slightly different, there is another yellow plastic element holding the front white bar. i cant find the lever as in the video.
@@mosfilo99 it's supposed to be attached to the clutch pedal but mine was broken then the switch itself failed. I ended up buying a new clutch pedal sensor switch from Renault.
I didn't manage to fix it myself, I had to take it to a garage that plugged it into a diagnostic machine....about 8 faults just on the parking break. Seems like a common problem.

Yeh I text a few weeks ago having this problem just after having a new clutch and slave cylinder on my scenic problem was I didn't see your video til after I retook my car to the sharks I mean garage anyhow I didn't manage to dO it myself due to it being at the garage so they would look at your video telling them how to suck eggs anyhow if anyone else is having this done my garage charged me £160 for this so called repair as I d only just had the clutch and slave cylinder done the day before

This isn’t exactly correct. Yours is actually broken. There is supposed to be a little black and yellow bracket attached to that. Mine broke and the parking brake message continuously popped up. I had to superglue this tiny piece back on as it’s a lot more important than it looks.
It's made from the thinnest,flimsiest,weakest plastic known to mankind,I had rulers at school that were stronger.

The switch fits to the roler bar and the slider, so when you put your clutch down it activates you automatic hand break.

Unfortunately, this gentleman literally has no idea what he is doing. Even he says he doesn't know what he's doing, but he does it that way and it supposedly worked. This is a broken clutch switch. Shit
