Let’s all take a moment to appreciate the decades of work Honda has spent making FWD cars handle like true sports cars. The way the Civics move is seemingly effortless. And even though the Civic is a larger four door, it’s still about the same weight as the RWD S.
Dori Dori is such an aggressive and good driver. He wins a lot.
When N. Hattori said "the difference to the other Civic Type R is that I got two R's. it's RR". Fucking epic. I really enjoy watching these. Lol
It's amazing how the 4 door, FWD Civic is outrunning the 2 seater, 50/50 S2000 on the track-even the stock FD2 is quicker.
FWD suffers less drivetrain power loss than RWD. So technically, the Civic weighs about the same as the S2000 with more HP.
Plus stock tire composition may play a factor as well.
@Louis Louis What do you mean? It's either RWD or it's not RWD. It has a helical limited slip, the same as the Type Rs, doesn't it?
@@TassieLorenzo fwd has less drivetrain loss than rwd. Engine is right there, no long driveshaft. Awd has the worst drivetrain loss of all drivetrain layouts.

I have mugen suspension on my 2nd gen Acura el (Canada) it has a D17A swap from a 7th gen Japanese civic got to love that vtec too

Ive driven the Mugen Si,Mugen really does get the suspension and aero right!Even without any extra HP the Mugen tromps a standard Si on windy roads,would love to see what the RR can do with the better brakes and engine
I love the cars shown here. I wonder if it would’ve been feasible for Mugen to help make a Honda North America Spec USDM Honda Civic FA5 Type R instead of just the Mugen Si.

remember guys, rwd has higher drivetrain loss due to rwd so 240 crank hp on the s2k translates to about what the type r actually makes at the wheels too. imagine a fwd F20/f22. its basically the same as the type r.
How much hp loss we talking about here?

Yes stock for stock the civic type r is faster but when it comes to upgrading both cars u can make the s2k alot faster than the civic
it depends more on the builders which one would be faster.

Honda should really start delivering the same Civic Type Rs or just cars in general across the world. It makes absolutely no sense and is probably way more expensive in development costs to have different platforms and versions in different sales areas. It's also frustrating for customers who would've liked to get that car.

i dont understand how the S2Ks lost. they have a much more powerful engine, higher rev limit, and weigh a shit ton less. the power to weight is much more in their favor than a big ass 4 door with barely over 200hp. i don't understand...

Devon Felix the mugen RR has about the same power as the s2000 and the mugen RR weights less than the s2000, and mugen being mugen they know how to set a car to be precise around th corners and what not.

Actually the Mugen RR and the Modulo have more power than the S2k and all 3 Civic's have more torque. And they all weigh around the same
Its called technology, progression. Everything from tyres, brakes, chassis, transmission, engine(torque curve) has moved on from when the s2000 came out! Its only natural and it doesn't mean its better to drive! just faster
FD2R weights around 1,260 kg and S2000 weights around 1,250 kg so the weight difference is way too minor to even compare.. FD2R has 220 HP and S2000 has 240 HP, K series engine are better than F series engine because of technology advancement.. FD2R has aluminium bonded chassis, bigger brakes and better suspension.. For an FF, it handles so damn well.. Perhaps u should test drive one and see for yourself..
Hattori is the worst driver
