Yeah, an indoor antenna is not the best unless you live in an area real close to all the stations, but you can get it to work best the way I explain in the video.
An ungrounded antenna is for sure an issue, but less of a problem if you have other things that are grounded which are higher up than the antenna, or if you have the antenna touching another grounded object to get better reception such as I do in this video, then it will be less of a problem as well. Thank you for bringing up this important issue since I forgot to mention it in the video.
@@PC4USE1 it's also important to remember that antennas like the one used in this video are usually labeled as indoor/outdoor so they are made to be used either way since they are not strictly just indoor antennas.
They make flat coaxial cables to fit through windows or doors. They are not to expensive to get. Its a simple way not to have your cable to be damaged or cut.
@@ThriftyinfoMix , is there a device that is made for televisions and digital antennas that can make a separate pair of cables go from the digital antenna to the television and from the television to the cable? I think that having a splitter, as well as having a pair of typical width, as well as strength, cables might help fix that problem that you described in the video.
@@paxhumana2015 it all depends on how close the electronics are to your antenna cable. If you can keep the electronics away from the cable then the interference would be a lot lower.
@@paxhumana2015 I'm not sure that I understand the question, but it seems like you are wanting to have cable TV and OTA antenna television at the same time. The answer is yes this is possible and there are several ways to accomplish this depending on your situation. One way to do it is to just use the device that comes with your cable or satellite provider which is the box that you use with their service. This box sometimes has an antenna input where you can plug in your digital TV antenna. Another easy way is to subscribe to an Internet satellite service or some other cable TV streaming service such as Sling TV so you can free up the cable line to use it for the antenna. If your cable or satellite service does not come with the box, then you can use an old VCR to run your antenna to the antenna input and then run your cable or satellite into the inputs on the VCR and use AV cables to run the signal from the VCR to the TV. Lastly, you could run both the antenna cable and the cable TV cable into an RF switch box splitter and then run the switch box into the TV, but you would have to manually switch back and forth between cable TV and digital antenna TV.
Thanks. I did install the hooks upside down intentionally so the cable would not slip out. Not only can I live with this install, but since I used removable hooks and no tools, I can easily uninstall the whole setup but hand without damaging anything install it somewhere else since it isn't permanent, but it's still secure...
i am on a 1st floor in a block apt of 8 apt attached to rows of other block apts on my street when i put the rg 6 coaxial cable attnana outside the window its till 7 chananls which is what i get inside; should i make the wire touch the metal balcony? Lisa thank you
Wow that's strange. You should not get as many channels with your antenna inside, but yes the metal on the balcony might help, but I suspect you are in an urban area where the TV stations are all close by and it won't matter that much. If you want to try to pull channels outside your area you might have to start looking at getting a long range outdoor antenna...
i love your detail; dont even listen to those who say get to the point; its all about the detail , and precision amd background , and homework again the best lisa
when you use a 15 in TV the picture will always be better then a 56 in mostly mr. salesman buy some Tube traps then worry about a TV quit begging for a thumbs up
I doubt a15" will *always* be better "then" a 56", but sometimes it might be better "than"one, depending on the situation. It's a common practice for video creators to ask for likes, and many influencers even suggest that you should do it because it's better to ask "than"not to ask, and the best way to get them is ask for them in case the viewer might not know about them.
Yeah, the time kinda got away from me on this one. I thought it was going to turn out to be a whole lot shorter, but I did this video in short clips of 1 to 2 minutes each and when I stitched them all together it turned out to be way longer than I expected. I think I should have cut some parts out like the TV antenna reception tips at the end because other people have those tips in other videos. It was actually a 25 minute video before I did the editing to it!
@@ThriftyinfoMix Well, you should have done it over. You reviewed what you recorded and didn't notice you were not getting to the point? You must love to hear yourself talk.
I guess I kinda am partial to myself. Lol. Maybe you are right though, but it seemed like a lot of work to do over since it took me two days to take the clips, put them together, and do the editing. Making videos is not as easy as it looks, but thanks for the feedback. It helps me improve and get better at making them. I appreciate it since it helps me understand what viewers like and don't like. Aside from the video being too long, did you think it had good content in it?
This fella is a genius.
Thank you sir.
Love all these channels
Thanks very much!
Your welcome
Well, at least your tip helped me confirm that this thing ain't gonna work unless it's set up outside or at least at the window. Thanks
Indoor antenna outdoors,I also would worry about grounding.

What is an amplifier?
It's kind of like a signal booster for weak signals.

This video is 18 minutes too long.
That comment was 7 words too long as well... 😛
@Losttoanyreason, and your existence would probably seem way too long for the liking of anyone else.
It takes 10 minutes to get to the tip: Put it outside to get better reception. Way too much babble.

Good tips, but not so good on production values. Plus this video could have been as effective but about 1/4 the length.
