    Greatest coach ever. Greatest football commentator ever. Greatest video game creator ever. Some people only get to do one thing - he did 1M things, did them so well and loved every minute of it. RIP Coach.

      For all of Mr. Madden's success in football both on and off the field-what, I will always remember most about him was his humanity. In 1978 during an exhibition game between the Raiders and Patriots-Patriots WR Darryl Stingley was paralyzed following a hit by Raider Jack Tatum. Mr. Madden rushed to the hospital after the game to be with Mr. Stingley. When he discovered that no one from the Patriot organization had come to be with Mr. Stingley-Mr. Madden called the airport and demanded that then Patriot coach Chuck Fairbanks come off the plane and be with Mr. Stingley's family. Mr. Madden went on to provide the Stingley family his home and car for as long as then needed and the story goes he helped pay Mr. Stingley's medical bills when the Patriots insurance company balked at paying the whole bill. Mr. Madden remained friends with Mr. Stingley right up until the time of his passing.

      Did Heidi's pet dog return back to the village?...😆...just jiving (jk), just making laugther!. That 68' season year game finally was our 'OTHER' last play error that kept us from appearing in the SB...77' F'n Lytle Fumble season year finally playoff was the other. WOW ---we were truly Baddass.

    The weather conditions in Shea Stadium for the 1968 AFL championship was described as a "violent wind" with gusts up to 30 mph. Interesting in 1969 when the Chiefs came to Shea Stadium for a playoff game against the Jets-the weather conditions where almost identical and played a major factor in how the game was played

    Watts Raider ---Thanks! This one is a keeper!. I knew that our 77' game playoff game against Broncos SHOULD had been our 'other' SB appearance due to one play ----but this 68' game playoff of that lateral (that costed us) would had been our OTHER SB year too missed.

    Growing up from when I would play tackle football no pads all day long with/against neighborhood kids all 2 to 8+ years older than me on the field around the corner = earning respect from taking my lumps from 5 to 14 years of age, watching the Raiders dominate winning 2 Superbowls and and then playing Pop Warner from age 9 to 14 through junior high and then playing high school football(all-the-while being known to able to throw and punt a football way farther than anyone else), we still had the highest winning percentage for any team in all of professional sports and had the most wins on Monday Night Football. Then, we went through some QBs Schroeder, Marinovich, Hostettler... and finally got Rich Gannon and a young Jon Gruden and within 1 season looked like we were one of the best, if not the best in football, but then we got screwed in the playoffs, and for whatever reason, probably the same reasons that our beloved Al Davis had for limiting our "Secret Weapon" Marcus Allen's play time,
    arrogance, pride, overconfidence, etc, he traded our young hot tempered Head Coach that would get into screaming matches with our hot-headed QB on the sidelines of games, to the Buccs for a 1st round draft pick and $1M... then, promoted Bill Callahan which started well 4-0, then 0-4 = 4-4 then got hot to finish the regular season 12-4, and then our playoff games started close, but we dominated the 2nd halfs of those games... Superbowl vs the team we'd demolished with Gruden at the helm a year before in Tampa 48-10, but Callahan changed the gameplan Robbins had a nervous breakdown and Gruden taught his defense everything that we did on offense and it was as if they knew every play... they did as confirmed by John Lynch. And that was the beginning of the end of our short-lived run for a long time, then despite having a difficult time getting competent coaches and then, GMs after Davis passed that traded away our draft picks and stars for players that were not any good with the exception of Richard Seymour, we finally had a draft that we picked the guys that I wanted us to pick, at least the 1st two, Mack and Carr!!! AND we looked like things were starting to turn around. But it took a couple of years, then we had finally built a quality team that won because our young amazing QB was clutch, but we all know how that season ended, and then bonehead Del Rio fired Bill Musgrave, and his wife made her political beliefs known and caused a rift in our locker room after starting the season hot, we went to shit, and Gruden came in and instead of keeping Mack, whom didn't like him for what he said about him draft night, and went on to gut the team that was so close to being Superbowl Champions a couple seasons before and season after season of rebuilding we finally had the team, but the corrupt NFL front office blew it up, then our explosive young star receiver blew up a woman and her dog, RIP, and we lost a bunch of games because of the emotional toll, but still managed to pull out 4 in a row to finish the season to make the playoffs despite not having a true number 1 XWR, only to have some questionable calls in the loss by a touchdown to the eventual AFC Superbowl representative that almost won if not for corrupt refs calling bogus penalties, like what had happened a lot since Goodell became the NFL gatekeeper... but now we have the best team we've had in 20 years with the most competent and actually brilliant management, genius coaching staff and most talented players with trading for the best XWR in the game and best friend of my all-time favorite QB, Top2 slot receiver, Top3 TE, great RB room, best O Line coach in recent history, possibly the best edge rusher duo in the league, possibly a bunch of really good DTs, a stud MLB and underrated OLBs, and an up-and-coming DB room... with possibly the best OC & DC duo in the league... and I am loving every moment of this offseason and I have been thinking and feeling the 2022 Las Vegas Raiders Superbowl Champions!!!
    Let's EFFIN GO Raider Nation!!!
    Just Win Baby... Just Win, the Superbowl, Baby!!!

    John Rauch was the Raider coach in 1968. Madden succeeded him the following season.

    • @bufnyfan1
      @bufnyfan1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rauch went to Buffalo-and totally flopped--I don't know what his motivation would have been to go there as their owner (Ralph Wilson) was a meddling idiot who surrounded himself with "Yes" men. In fact the current success of the Bills has a lot to do with the new ownership (Terry/KIm Pegula)

    • @balrog322
      @balrog322 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bufnyfan1 My recollection is Rauch felt unappreciated and\or wanted more autonomy than Al Davis would tolerate. Coaching Buffalo turned out to be a bad career move, as they say. He didn’t show much acumen, taking the reins of a team what had won five games the preceding two seasons, trying to install the vertical game he loved with waffle-armed passers and employing their notorious running back from USC as a decoy.

    It's just tragic that the Raiders couldn't have put together a similar game plan in the 1969 AFL Championship than they did in the 1968 sudden-death playoff game against the Chiefs. They would have beaten the Vikings probably easier than the Chiefs did in Super Bowl 4

    15:25 A "piling on" penalty. Sounds funny. It's been a long time since I've heard of a piling on penalty. Doesn't happen much anymore I guess anyway.
    It was a "late hit" actually as only one player was involved. But no matter. I love these old films and the announcing.

    I was just a kid, but I do remember Lamonica had a knack of screwing up at the most inopportune time. Lamonica finally lost his OB job to Stabler in the Immaculate Reception game in the 4th quarter. With Stabler at QB the NFL had to find other ways to screw over the Raiders. ***Thanks for video, brought back memories of watching the Raiders with my dad😊
