Yes, 1991 model year with the VIN for the win: 1FM for US made Ford MPV, D for driver's and passenger's airbags, U34 for Explorer XL four door 4x4, X for 4.0L V6 with MFI, 9 is a check digit, M for the 1991 model year, U for Louisville, KY assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Louisville KY plant still operates today. We got the tag, we can brag: RC for Medium Platinum exterior paint, 112 for the wheelbase of the truck in inches, U34X for Ford Explorer four door 4x4 with 112" wheelbase, DD for Canyon Red cloth bucket interior trim, T for four speed automatic overdrive transmission, 45 for 3.55:1 rear axle ratio, non-locking, D for Canyon Red tape stripe, and 14 for Pittsburgh, PA sales district.
Never wanted an early model Explorer like that one. They were top heavy & easy to flip over. Ofcourse they blamed the firestone tires. However it was the weight/ distribution ratio. Get em up to speed & you could feel em twitch on the roads! No thanks!
@@harrymiller8538 my brother and i were real hard on our 92 when we were young and dumb. It did well both off road and on. The only weakness we found was the auto trans.
967 pretty awesome. 👍
Almost to 1000 maybe by January?
Those were everywhere in the 90s. I liked them
We had one I liked our AMC Eagle better 😁
@NathansMoparGarage Eagle 🦅. Yes !!!

They ran until they rotted away.
10 likes! Another fun day in the junk yard! Great video! I enjoyed it!
Thanks for watching 😎
Not a bad looking Explorer 👍👍
It's got some hidden rust
Shaved handles are pretty sweet 👀 I'd like to have one with the 5 speed manual 😎👍
I have not seen one with a manual transmission.
Yes,....The five speed would be the icing on the cake.
What kinda cake?
@@NathansMoparGarage Chocolate...Are there any others?
Lots of different kinds 😋
Let's go muddin'

I miss our old square Exploder. I read a while back that it was the most traded in vehicle in the Cash for Clunkers program 😢
We had one I was not a fan of it.

@@googleusergpIt probably looked better in it's original paint and red stripes
@@NathansMoparGarage Looks good right where it is, where it belonged since 1991.

I remember that recall and replaced tires on a few of them with some Goodyear Wranglers
