  • A little over a year ago, I insulated a sliding barn door and shared with the TH-cam community. However, my weather strip methods were less than par. This is just a quick video to share a success of mine. Jacor Brushseals to the rescue.

    Gonna have to share this with Rhiannas dad, his issue is his door is on the outside of the barn and hovers 3/4in over just dirt rather than having concrete underneath but sealing around the sides and top sure would help keep some warmth on the inside. Good find joe yb👍

      The straight brushes I got are 1” long, but they make them much longer, there is some on Amazon, but if you go to the JaCor site, there is a lot more options.

    I think this is the route I will be taking with my large 12x12 door but I would like my door to slide on the inside of my structure. It looks like I would be able to install the brush seals on the outside jamb and take some door jamb metal and slide it over the top of the flat on the seal if I use a panhead type screw. Then my latches would have to be on the door and the eyes on the wall. Thanks for the visual. Very helpful!

      How'd you end up sealing it.
      I'm going to build a 12 wideby 10 tall sliding door on the inside of my barn too, looking for ideas.

    I like it. question would that take the finish on stain door

    • @YoungbloodFamilyFarm
      @YoungbloodFamilyFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what you mean by “taking the finish”? The metal is aluminum and I’m sure you could spray paint it

      Sorry didn't explain myself right. I want to give it a try, but my concern is would the brushes scratche the door and take the finish off, Cause i got a project going on that the door is between a cold garage and a trophy room, and the door is going to be a dark color. " Thanks for replying back"

      @@rodriguez657 the actual brushes are pretty soft. I do not think that they would scratch or wear away any finish.

    my mother will be building in her back porch and make it into a bedroom. She has a storm door and a small cube foyer has been made. She wanted a sliding barn door going into the bedroom, to keep from it opening into the bedroom, she wanted sliding barn door to keep from taking up space. I am looking for a way to insulate the barn door, to keep the cold out. Because she will only have the storm door leading outside. Do you have any pointers to maybe help with insualting the barn door to keep it air tight and to keep the cold from coming around it? thanks

      I used Brush Seals on all 4 edges. The Best Way to Seal an Insulated Sliding Barn Door
      th-cam.com/video/tfs3AGFFBno/w-d-xo.html. There is some links in the video description, sorry for the self promotion but this was the best solution and over a year later I’m glad I used this method to seal the edges

    Think a mouse could get through the brushes or are they too ridgid?

    • @YoungbloodFamilyFarm
      @YoungbloodFamilyFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The brushes I have on the bottom and sides are 1 inch long and very rigid, I have seen zero evidence of mouse chew. The longer brush versions may be different
