    HOW TO PAINT SEPULCHRAL GUARD
    ------------------------------------------
    The seventh episode in an ongoing series where I paint all the warbands for Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire.
    In this episode I paint the Sepulchral Guard warband using a combination of drybrushing, wet blending and glazes. Not an airbrush in sight!

    WHAT IS ARMOUR WASH?
    ------------------------------------------
    I reference "Armour Wash" a lot in this series of videos. This is just a mix of GW washes that I have mixed up in a spare pot. the recipe for making your own is below. You can if you want just use Nuln Oil and I won't judge.
    3xNuln Oil
    2xAgrax Earthshade
    1xDrakenhoff Nightshade

    That cloak on the warden is one of the prettiest things I've seen model wise in a long time. Amazing!

    Wow! Very nice and thorough guide and what a gorgeous end result. I really like that you switch between wetblending, wash, and drybrushing. and I Iiked that you didn't use the Nihilakh Oxide on the metal which you see ALOT of guys (even those from Warhammer TV) do when painting ancient Iron stuff... Copper turns that turqoise green of Nihilakh Oxide where as Iron rusts to that redish brown on your model.

    Holy crud, that glowing eyes technique just blew my mind...I have an entire fleet worth of Stormcast Eternals with nothing in their eyes purely because I had no idea what to do with them...you my friend just helped my complete my project, thank you, you are a legend.

    • @RobPaintsModels
      @RobPaintsModels  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I should probably point out that this technique will only work on the empty eye sockets of Skeletons. For models that actually have eyes in their sockets you should carefully paint the eye with some white then use a little glaze of the colour you want them to glow and paint it over the eye. Once the glaze is dry go back and repaint the eye itself white.

      Tommy Toranger I already have colour schemes planned for my Goliath's and Escher's but I don't want to rush them and with them having more models than a Shadespire warband they are going to take me a bit longer. Doesn't mean there won't be any videos though just that I'm not going to force it 😁

    Fantastic tutorial!! anyway i am curious to know if this trick of putting a coat of Lahmian Medium after the shade actually turned the other way and made it super glossy and shinny afterwards to anybody else. I figured it was a matter of shaking more the bottle, but it does not make any difference..

    I know this is an old video in the grand scheme of things, but I was wondering how your Screamer Pink is so much brighter than the one I picked up this year. Have GW changed the formula? Mine is really dark in comparison to the first few brushes you put on; yours seems almost fluorescent in places.

    Pretty new so this may be a dumb question - why not prime/base it white to start instead of black considering it's bone? I had someone at a shop recently tell me to almost never prime white (always do black) but didnt really expand on that... is that a common practice? If so, why? thanks much!!

    • @RobPaintsModels
      @RobPaintsModels  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most of the time you prime black because you are painting dark colours and highlighting up through lighter ones. This is easier to do over black as it gives you natural shadows and the dark colours cover better over black than white. You normally prime white (or preferably light grey) if you are going to be painting very bright highly saturated colours as your base colour such as a bright red or yellow.

    The heavy rust technique was good, but a lot of the other stuff was just working around the failings of overpriced GW paint.
