Back with another Lanky's Gear Guide video! Today, I'm doing a long-term review of my gravel specific cycling shoes--the Quoc Gran Tourer gravel bike shoes. I've owned these shoes for two years, and I have used them for a combination of road, gravel, and mountain biking. Since selling my road bike a year ago, these are my primary cycling shoe.
In terms of sizing and fit, Quoc only sells in half European sizes which can make finding the right fit a bit tough. They also tend to fit a bit smaller than other shoes, but I have found my 42.5s tight but very comfortable. They can be a bit difficult to put on, but I really like the double-lock lacing setup which allows me to cinch the shoe tightly around my relatively narrow feet.
In terms of positives, the Quoc Gran Tourers are classy looking, super comfortable, stiff enough for the majority of riders, and extraordinarily durable. I can't stress enough the comfort of these shoes. For tourers, explorers, and commuters, you will greatly appreciate the comfort these shoes provide while walking. Fortunately, this comfort does not come at the expense of performance.
On the negative side, these shoes retain water. The shoe deflects light road spray very well and the cleat area is sealed against the elements. However, if water can't get in, it also can't get out. Once water gets in the top of the shoe, it's hard for the shoe to dry out during your ride. These shoes are also quite expensive, coming in at 219 GDP or $300 USD. I haven't had any issues with breathability, but I could see individuals who run hot possibly having some issues with shoe temperature on a hot day.
Overall, I really like these shoes. They've held up well through two years of abuse. While I don't think gravel specific cycling shoes are necessary, these will make your gravel adventures significantly more enjoyable. Enjoy Your Ride!

I was looking for an extensive review of this shoe and after a couple of videos that were more product specification overview videos, I was so happy to find your video. Exactly what I was looking for, informative and really helped me making a decision for my first gravel shoe. Ordered them (also in pink/sand color) and we'll see how they ride!

This is definitely the kind of shoe I would want if I do ever end up going clipless. Being able to walk is huge for gravel and touring. $300 doesn’t sound as bad when you are going to get that much use and longevity out of them. Great review.

In your personal opinion with QUOCS GT ii do you think since I normally get away with a 45.5 Wide in Specialized / SIDI I need to size up to 46 since they ONLY do full sizing?
I have the old quocs, so not sure if they changed sizing, but unless they tell you differently on their website, I'd probably size up the half size.
Wear these on my road bike, way easier being able to comfortably walk when you get off

They’ve redesigned it, and I haven’t used the latest version. The old version was not especially wide. If you need wide cycling shoes, look at Lake.
which pedals did you use?
In this video, I used TIME ATAC8 pedals, but I have also used with Shimano SPD mountain bike pedals. Sometimes I get some squeaking when climbing using the TIME pedals.
I like the pink funkiness.
They just released some new pink ones with boa dials. Funky is good.
