What an honor to be chosen for this marching band. These students work so hard, with band practice and not to forget, their studies. Parents gotta be so proud.
Same for me. I hate team sports - especially football. But I’m so impressed with this band. I’ve watched a few other college marching bands and none of them can hold a candle to Ohio State.
You should go down and attend Skull Session at St John's Arena before each home game. Band plays to a full house and the team walks thru, coach says a few words but it's mostly band show. You'd enjoy that alone. Don't even need a ticket.
3:08 that bass drummer that hits the stadium 3:17 This band and try e football squad and the pageantry is what college football is all about. If you can’t get up for this band then you’re in the wrong stadium.
We miss seeing amazing bands, which are far more in number and talent than those who blabber during halftime about nonsense. Studios hire bores to regurgitate crap computers spit out. Thus, we miss the great American tradition of marching bands. They would hear not one complaint if the entire halftime was televised. In many cases, it would be much preferred to the game itself.
I've been watching college football a long, long time and they used to show a lot of bands at halftime. It wasn't quite the whole halftime show but we at least got a feel for the pageantry and traditions and color they added to the game. I miss that.
Excellent!! Snare Drums that sound like Snare Drums, not that idiotic clicking of some of them that sounds like they're playing on a sheet of plywood!!
It's part of the stadium replacement plan. The stadium just turned 100 and we're afraid that it might last too long and become outdated so we have the bass drummer hit it once per home game so we'll eventually have to modernize the stadium. You know, tradition!
Oh who cares about the cheerleaders other than their parents. Let's get to the band, and this is coming from the parent of a former football cheerleader.
I do not know what black rod is, but it’s a tradition dating back to woody Hayes I believe where a bass drummer would bang on the team door to let Woody know the band was ready and the game will be starting soon
@@carebear128 228 not 248, thank you for that info. I think the intricacies of your performances is what makes the band seem bigger than it is, member-wise. What an honor to be a member of The Ohio State Marching Band, truly!
So weird how humans love traditions and fear change. Seeing the same thing over and over, year after year makes time stand still, while change reminds us all that time and change will surely show....
I asked ChatGPT to find a better name for "american football" and it didn't like the original term since It isn't played with the feet. It gave it a new name: PURSE BALL since it looks like women running away from robbers with their purses.
Nothing against the Ohio State Marching Band, they are great. However they show more security than our Congressional Leaders have recently. JustSaying.
Perhaps it would be more pertinent to know how many black people tried out before making any possibly unwarranted assumptions? Maybe 5 and they all made it. But congrats on your eyesight. Seriously, I can’t see that level of detail in this video.

I’d have been a straight D student if I had to maintain this level of performance and try to learn linear algebra at the same time.
:)
I don't particularly care about football, but I would go to an Ohio game just to see these guys play.
Same
Me too. They're awesome!

There is something about that sound of drums that peaks the ears in anticipation. I really like the Ohio State Marching Band, they are AWSOME!!!

One of the best marching bands in the land.
It is not one of the best of in bands in the land, it is TBDBITL
Gosh I love that band
Wonderful, the band has very militaristic look and sound for sure, add to that the guys in fatigues and it’s go time!
They give me goosebumps every time I see them!
The Greatest Band in the Land!

Amazing band.
I fucking love that drum cadence towards the end. Every day I'm working It's in my head
They look very sharp, some bands will do entirely too much, and end up looking like clowns. Ohio State has it going on!!
Tried & true method of excellence.
Growing up in SAcramento we would go to Berkely to watch the Cal Bears band. These are so much fun.
Look forward to you and your Cal band joining the B10 conference soon, along with USC UCLA, Stanford, Oregon and Washington.
Amazing band
The best.
Nothing like the OSU band ❤
That is old school marching band precision!
Goooo blueeee
Well that was cool.
They practice so much. That's what sets them off from the rest.
there are a lot of good college marching bands, but OSU can take it to another level
That's quite a drum section.
Excellent!! Snare Drums that sound like Snare Drums, not that idiotic clicking of some of them that sounds like they're playing on a sheet of plywood!!
First off, I love the Ohio Marching Band even tho I am not from Ohio lol! But also why did that bass drummer hit the wall?
It’s a tradition, a bass drummer bangs on the sign three times to signal the band is entering the stadium.
@@jack_snare4 Many many thanks my friend!

So this is Ohio University Marching Band is what you are saying then, right?
TIGHT!!!!!
best view in the house, you get to see them march in and then you can run to your seat to see the pregame performance!
Hello:
love your video
May I use your video?
wow, 1st part of the Connecticut halftime...via the drumline!@
close, 3 camps
damm i hate you !! lol
at least we have the drift, thanks
Connecticut Halftime is a pretty old drum solo, but The Three Camps dates back to the Revolution. Originally a fife and drum piece!
Oh who cares about the cheerleaders other than their parents. Let's get to the band, and this is coming from the parent of a former football cheerleader.
What's with the bass drummer running up to pound on the building (door?)? OSU's version of Black Rod?
That was my thought too, but If so, they should slam the stadium doors in his face as he approaches 😄
I do not know what black rod is, but it’s a tradition dating back to woody Hayes I believe where a bass drummer would bang on the team door to let Woody know the band was ready and the game will be starting soon
I know the band is traditionally 248 members but it looks like more than that.
Funny enough the band is traditionally and currently 228 members, but when you have a ton of people in the same uniform we tend to look a lot bigger

So there not carrying the drum😮
Who is the drum major?
Should have much more of an accompanying police presence though.

Why does one drum major have on a normal marching uniform?
The drum major understudy and heir apparent

This is the Ohio STATE Marching band
I like the marching illini as good a bandit not better but both are fantastic
TBDBITL???? Not even close. Takes a LOT to beat Texas A&M Marching band !!!!
Stupid comment - the two bands are completely different in style and form. Only an idiot would make such a direct comparison.

Whaaat?
Probably its that they get to watch the game - for free.
Awsome Band but didn't like how they ran onto the field

Dude why do the drummers with a snare have to carry a drum so dumb

A seemingly ridiculously large number of basses... Lot of show and little blow??
