Across all sciences there are two fundamental assumptions: That the universe is real, and that we can learn about it. Those two assumptions has brought us a lot. Our knowledge about evolution for example has brought us many advances in medicine, and other forms of public health. Our knowledge about gravity has given us travel around the earth as well as out of Earth's own gravity well, and it has enabled worldwide communication. Those two assumptions are no stretch, and the results works.

Ah, don't pay attention to people who say there are no missing links found etc. "Missing link" is a very out-dated term from the quaint old days when we thought that there would be one ancestor who was exactly half-ape and half-man or something like that. The only people I've seen saying we descended from chimps are actually Creationists and the like. We didn't. We have a close common ancestor with chimps. If you by slight changes mean that we can show how animals become very different over millions of years (Such as whales and land-mammals), then you're right. I don't think I've yet misunderstood the OT. As I said before, I've had a bible study group that included a priest, a philosopher, historian and physicist. Where I live, priests are required to be educated in theology. The wars in OT aren't genocide in the current legal definition. That still makes them horrible slaughters of innocents and make Yahweh the most heinously evil character in cultural fiction. Numbers 31 would be an example that comes directly to mind.
I personally think the most important thing about Charles Darwins story that everyone leaves out is that he was Christian himself. This song iteself says the church of England questioned his Christianity. That doesn't mean he was Athiest, it means some Christians were offended. Huge HUGE difference. I believe that God made some species, with man being created separately, then let animals to evolve and new species be created and changed through their comparability to survive in their environments, which is, Natural Selection.

The current most popular belief is that animals evolved from the first simple multi-cellular organisms which were like hive-minds of cells. These in turn evolved from the close association of single-celled organisms. Single-celled organisms are believed to have arisen from proto-cells, or coacervate associations of molecules which could divide. Organic compounds for these formed as per the Miller-Urey experiment.
With today's knowledge and understanding of how most things work. It's impossible to say anything other than evolution is the cause. There wouldn't be one sane, science minded person that would think otherwise. Surely.

Science does back evolution. It shows through DNA and genetics that evolution took place- through carbon dating and studying DNA evolution. This is something I have studied in detail. Feel free to have faith yourself, but I am sticking with what has been proven by SCIENCE and FACT. Lovely simple empirical fact. Thank you.
If QI is believed, Darwin's theory didn't meet with much opposition from the Church at first. Someone said: 'Not only does god create the world, he can make it so that it changes itself.' or something similar. That is paraphrasing very heavily.
This question is fairly relevant. I see multiple Christian groups who believe that since their god is omnipotent, he'd not have any problems with "setting the stage" and then just light the massive expansion of the universe. Curiously to me at least, I find that those groups are not in opposition to scientific progress, but they believe that they should devote much to it in order to see if they can find their god there.
If any Protestant or non Catholic says that the two conflict, he does not represent Catholicism. If a Catholic says so, he REALLY needs to look at some of our teachings. If priest says so, well he's probably either very old or didn't work very hard in seminary.
It is not known how abiogenesis/biopoiesis occurred, or if it was how life began. However it is the main theory - life arising from simple organic compounds, either on Earth, or on another planet (the another planet theory is known as weak Panspermia.)
I'm a christian and I agree with evolution. Neither Charles Darwin's theory or this song go against christianity. If you believe that God created the world why not believe that he created the big bang and evolution? :) Most of the people I know think Adam and Eve is a symbolic story but not to be taken literally.
We know that light have reached us in more than 10.000 years. They are not contradictions, they are simply wrong. It's not about honesty either, since they did not know they were wrong back then. They pulled a story out of their imagination and then said "god did it!". It's really that simple. The advances in our knowledge the last 300 years have shown so many errors in old myths such as this one, so people stop believing it and start looking at what works. Science works.

I don't get why Unintelligent Designers are so obsessed with Darwin. After all, his influence on the current theory of evolution is mostly historical. Since Darwin, a number of radical inventions has improved and corrected and further explained his original theory, and even if Darwin had made it up it wouldn't change a single letter in the Theory of Evolution. Science does back evolution. It shows through DNA and genetics that evolution took place- through carbon dating and studying DNA evolution. This is something I have studied in detail.

If QI is believed, Darwin's theory didn't meet with much opposition from the Church at first. Someone said: 'Not only does god create the world, he can make it so that it changes itself.' or something similar. That is paraphrasing very heavily.
This question is fairly relevant. I see multiple Christian groups who believe that since their god is omnipotent, he'd not have any problems with "setting the stage" and then just light the massive expansion of the universe. Curiously to me at least, I find that those groups are not in opposition to scientific progress, but they believe that they should devote much to it in order to see if they can find their god there.
If any Protestant or non Catholic says that the two conflict, he does not represent Catholicism. If a Catholic says so, he REALLY needs to look at some of our teachings. If priest says so, well he's probably either very old or didn't work very hard in seminary.
It is not known how abiogenesis/biopoiesis occurred, or if it was how life began. However it is the main theory - life arising from simple organic compounds, either on Earth, or on another planet (the another planet theory is known as weak Panspermia.)

I'm a christian and I agree with evolution. Neither Charles Darwin's theory or this song go against christianity. If you believe that God created the world why not believe that he created the big bang and evolution? :)

They are not contradictions, they are simply wrong. It's not about honesty either, since they did not know they were wrong back then. They pulled a story out of their imagination and then said "god did it!".
It's really that simple. The advances in our knowledge the last 300 years have shown so many errors in old myths such as this one, so people stop believing it and start looking at what works. Science works.

Yo guys, this is no place to argue. While some may be right and some may be wrong, we have to entitle everybody to their beliefs. And if you do insist on disagreeing, at least provide some actual evidence rather than simply insulting each other.

I don't get why Unintelligent Designers are so obsessed with Darwin. After all, his influence on the current theory of evolution is mostly historical.
Since Darwin, a number of radical inventions has improved and corrected and further explained his original theory, and even if Darwin had made it up it wouldn't change a single letter in the Theory of Evolution.
At last, I do understand your need to believe or not believe in something. After all, no fundamentalist Christian can anything else.
