He gives black actors work, he should hire some black WRITERS too!😂👀
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I mean the "I'll slap your nose off" line alone. 🤦🏾♀️
Weird Fact. In the past he's refused to pay "Writers Guild" Writers their fair rate. Insane considering he was a Writer that slept in his car.
@@morganst.claire6944
People forget when they "make it"
Well, Tyler Perry is a self made billionaire. Nothing is perfect but if he can get billionaires results why change. there is a lot of bs on cable tv and lifetime movies why is this any different 🍿 it’s cheaper to write your own scripts
I cannot understand for the life of me why so many folks in the community act like Tyler Perry is beyond reproach or criticism simply because he's Black. If we're spending our hard earned Black Dollars to support him then we have every right to criticize and call him out on his b.s.
It's the same ole formula with him: Overload you with trauma porn, low down overly abusive Black Man, Good Man McGee shows up to rescue the bitter broken abused Black Woman from despair and they live happily ever after.
Right? There's nver a movie where a woman moves on from a toxic marriage and become stronger by herself. She always has to be damn near rescued by a rebound.
He continually get a pass bc of his charitable works. Thats no small thing. I appreciate that God has used him to bless others but his works are too rushed. The thought seems to be content over quality.
Also: why she just let Dallas upstairs when ole buddy was asleep in the house and yelled NOTHING?
Yea i aint get that she foul for that shit knowin henwas sleep atleast let him be awake
Walked up there right behind him...into the room and everything, ain't said nothing until Dallas was already snatching him up 😒🤦🏾♀️ this movie was so bad
I was screaming the whole time. She risked that man's life!! She was supposed to hit that panic button on that alarm and run right upstairs and let dude know they're in danger!!! That part pissed me off.
I was screaming the whole time. She risked that man's life!! She was supposed to hit that panic button on that alarm and run right upstairs and let dude know they're in danger!!! That part pissed me off.
Yea... that was just... dumb.
I appreciate someone giving me the review of Tyler Perry being Tyler Perry. Diary of a black woman part 27
😂😂😂😂
😅😅😅😅😅😂😂😂
Only 27? 😂
Part 27 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😅😅😅😅 hell yea lmao
That picture of you being megan good from the side and you again in the background as Corey Hardwick is HILARIOUS 😂
I know right 💀💀😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Exactly why I'm here 😂😂
That damn two finger point that Dallas kept doing in the movie🙄
Best non-Madea movies
-Family That Preys
-Why did I get married 9both of them)
-Daddy's Little Girl
-his role in Gone Girl 😂
Yeah I fully agree. I love those movies. But only those lol
Edit: lol just noticed your pfp.
I literally just gave my mom the same list of the only TP movies I like
Acrimony
Maaaaaan Daddy’s little girls is my shit!🤣🤣
I Can Do Bad All by Myself
with Taraji was also good 😊
Corey was giving his best blaxploitation performance in this movie
Corey deserved better and I hope he gets something better that'll keep him working
He’s the reason I watched because people were saying how great of a job he did. I thought his acting was bad.
@@fn4086…yeah his acting wasn’t good @ all!!
CH’s unintentional comedy made the movie watchable…he was campy, hammy and wayyy over the top.
It was like he read the script and said I’m gon’ have a ball with this trash.
What else could he do with all that ridiculous writing?
I can’t front, I was literally bussin out laughing every time he was on-screen wylin’ out pointing those two fingers at everybody.🤣😂🤣
😂😂😂
Tony I agree 💯. The evil characters show no redeeming features.........Why would you marry this person OR be in this family 🤔 🤦🏾♂️🚩🚩🚩🚩.
Sloppy work everytime!
But it's people and relationships like that in real life
Why not just look at this more as a comedy drama than a serious drama? Yea the other commenter is correct - people get wrapped up into men like this ALL the time! However still - this movie shouldn’t be taken seriously as you’re WANTING to be!
@@Mimi-ht6xr stfu and take the cape off, it sucks.
My favorite non Madea TP movie is everyone’s… “A Family that Preys.” I feel like Alfre Woodard and Kathy Bates read the script and said, “naw, this is stupid. Let’s read it like this.” That movie was too good for him to do without help from those seasoned legends.
That’s what I’ve said! Those were 2 legends that gave great performances! Everyone did!!
🎯
My fave of his is Daddy’s Little Girls
@@GEMINIVice1 yeah for me though I was say it’s his second best non Madea movie. After that, it just went downhill with rushed Lifetime-eqse movies with more plot holes.
I'm so glad a black person is being HONEST about the quality of this film lol we gotta stop giving TP a pass man 🤦🏽♀️
Exactly! I got tired and decided a long time ago that I was not gonna continue to patronize garbage just because he’s Black. Tyler needs to do better…much better!
@@CinemaSensei-ki7bv We're not his audience and that's ok. He understands his true audience loves this material and he pumps it out to them.
I’ve been hearing us tell the truth about TP and his movies for YEARS now.
I agree...when I watch a Tyler Perry project I NEVER feel like I'm watching REAL people. I never get lost in it. Usually, I can't wait for it to end.
Right
Damn! Tell me how you really feel. 😂
Tyler was in the studio like "I see what caliber of Acting/Writing you dishing out Tubi....here hold my beer/Colt 45!" Perry was like..."If Tubi is setting the bar this low, let me go six feet deeper!"
*ONE SAXOPHONE IS CRAZY* 😂😂😂
With a chair spin...ah yeah!!! 😂😂😂😂
How?
Della Reese voice in Harlem nights “Uh Uh, no it ain’t!” 😅😅😅😅😅😅
that's being generous lol
@@korndudFacts, the movie was a hot mess
The Family That Preys. That's it. That's the list for me.
😂😂
Daddy's little girls is solid too...I'd actually be surprised if he wrote that one too...but there's an evil black man and scenes of child abuse so he probably wrote it.
I 100% agree!
The family that preys was typical Tyler Perry with the dark side, deceit, cheating, unhappy, miserable, hurting, dysfunctional family and the animosity and resentment between the two sisters. Always something destroying the family. Never happy unity
@@dawnwalton1099 You aren't wrong. I think timing, however, plays a part. At the time it came out, I wasn't exhausted by his portrayal of black families. If that movie came out today, I'd likely not feel the same.
“You wanna lose yo job bih?! ✌🏼” had me on tha flo 😂😂😂
She said she didn’t care about that job lol
In a whole dam bank I was wanting security to drag his ass out of there, but I guess that would've been too realistic for TP 😂
@@mrschris357 I said the same thing! Where tf was security??
@@dickersonr6172that had me cracking up! I was like “oh damn!” 😂
What I noticed was, this was the second Tyler Perry movie where the background actors, AGAIN, were fake eating with no food on their plates!😂😂😂 Tyler gotta do better, damn! Fake chewing and everything!
😂
“Good man McGee”🤣
Every Tyler Perry movie has one formula:
1- Strong Woman who is or has been done wrong.
2- Man who is evil or bad, and is somehow with the strong woman
3- Terrible friends or family members who never help anyone
4- ratchet black people
5- church
looooooool church killed me 😅😅😅
2. ...and is somehow with the strong woman😂😂😂
I can actually picture Tyler Perry at his MacBook writing his scripts smiling to himself, rubbing his hands like Birdman working on a script he wrote in two hours, high on all the drugs because, seriously no level headed person couldn’t even begin to imagine or think of the ideas for movies he comes up with 😅
Not all the drugs 😂
@@queensade1325 He’s definitely on at least 90% of them and on a cocktail of Red Bull, Monster and Mountain Dew 😅

The funeral scene was crazy😅
1. Why did I get Married
2. The Family That Preys
3. Good Deeds
Great list! I would add Meet the Browns movie to the list, Angela Bassett was in that one, overall that movie wasn’t bad.
I LOVE The Family That Preys!
Daddy's Little Girls was good too!!!
I agree with these. I also enjoyed I Can Do Bad All By Myself. ❤ Fortunately, Madea was reduced to a cameo in this one. 😂
For colored girls and temptation.
That scene meagan dragged him out the house, trying her best to put some black on it😂corey and his 2 fingers😂😂😂😂definitely had me laughing
No Tony you are absolutely right about his writing style. At this point I am convinced Tyler is telling his story growing up in an abusive household but using a black women pain to market it. The abusive man it every film is his father and the mistreated woman is his mother. Also, that good man that comes in and "saves the day" is maybe who he wished he had growing up.... maybe.
❤
I think you’re right too…it’s like the same thing with Walt Disney. It’s why all the princesses had no mothers and something tragic happen with the father. And the bad guy was typically and evil female character.
Tyler Perry is thee worst mainstream writer in history😂
He did not make a billion from his movies lol. Stop trying give him a pass…He’s a business man at this point making money moves behind the scenes. But his movies are most definitely not his money maker.
@@jamiethorpe5431Nah he made a lot from them but that don’t ran their good. It’s a lot of people who like trash.
I honestly think that improvements in the wig and hair department gaslighted and bamboozled me into thinking the movie was better than it actually was.
I was in shocked that he didn't have anyone wearing a wig, on top of a wig , on top of a toupee, attached to a hat.😂😂
I hate that Tony be dropping these like a thief in the night!! I need more fanfare!!
You are 100% correct.! There was absolutely no nuisance in the film whatsoever, I found myself asking the same exact question "why would she even marry this guy" and mind you the question truthfully was never even answered in the entire film and all in all after watching. It felt like wasted time. He could've kept this. I'm sorry and it was diabolical to use 2 actors who both have just went through troubling divorces as the leads to. Which could've gave way to a much more introspective story of what it is to go through and the ebbs and flows of emotions one goes trough or could possibly go through but instead we got.... TRASH LOL
Mmmm. I didn't even think of their own divorces.....
I don’t why she married him after talking about how mean he was to her at prom.
Tyler was hoping to bank on that fact and of course most people fell for the b.s.
There was plenty of nuisance in the movie. The word you're looking for is nuance.
Tyles did that movie for megan good , cause no one wanted to give her a shot ….but dude, put a little effort on the writing , we all know you can come up with a movie off the ripp
A family that prays together is hands down the best Tyler Perry movie.
Tyler is a play writer. Writing and producing movies is a different beast. No way is Tyler Perry a heterosexual man. No way!
100% agree with this whole comment
He writes his plays from his closet. 🤷🏾♀️
☕️
Yes, yes, and YES!
Black folks are ALWAYS complaining.. DAMN..SMH.
He should've made this a series, because I wanted to know the background on both families.
I would watch that 🤔
It should also be a comedy. It was funny as hell
Please NO!! 😂
He’s got enough poorly acted, poorly written series out there. Enough is enough
@dodidit5348 right
You are 100% correct. I kept asking myself why should I care about their marriage while watching this movie. Had to text my friend to ask that very question.

You are right about nuance. My sister who is a psychologist says that no one is ALL bad or ALL good; we all have some of both. Maybe one more than the other, but *most* people aren’t entirely one-dimensional.
Richard Lawson made me mad in this movie and not in a good way😂😂😂. Then Cory Hardrict was gaslighting the ENTIRE movie.
“Good man McGee” 💀😂 This entire movie was ridiculous.
And it pissed me off that his name was Benji 😂 idk why

One thing TP is a genius at is exploitation. Like Danielle Steele novels and "stories," consumers should feel free to consume whatever content they choose, no matter how horrendously bad they are.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 this review is hilarious!
If you heard his rant on Verbal Cardio, you must!😂
THIS is the review I was waiting on😂
That thumbnail, though!😆😂😁
It took me 10 minutes before I turned it off. His mom had their family dragged their dead bro out the casket. I was done. ⚰️ 💀 🤦🏾♂️
I hear you, but it got really good AFTER that.

I absolutely agree with you Tony 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 this movie was trash and yes I was waiting to see what led her to him. Never got that.
After the casket fiasco I was done. Evil Cora/Evilene taking off her borrowed Sunday best did it for me.
3:23 This was my exact thought! Why did she marry him to begin with? She grew up with 2 parents who had a loving relationship. This dude made her miserable back when they were dating in high school. They supposedly broke up for a brief moment, so what about him drew her back to marry him? He showed 0 redeeming qualities that would draw her in, so it didn’t make any sense.
This is the first time 1 sax was given
I woulda have given it a zero.
@@IcHamza well , I’ve seen worse movies than this one especially on lifetime tv . This movie was not different it did get an audience.
He did show a flashback of moments when things were ‘good’ but it was very brief 😭
I agree, the movie angered me, but in reality i think some women are in relationships like this and they may believe that about themselves.
Overall, I like the cast. They all worked well together in this movie.
Megan looks amazing 🤩
The thumbnail for this movie review video is the best thing associated with the movie lol
“He’s drinking, he’s beating, he’s probably cheating “ 😭😭😭
I didn’t understand when they were in the restaurant and then he went into a rant yeahing for a divorce. Then when she finally had enough of him he gets mad because she agrees to it finally. Then he gets mad and blames her for giving him what he wants. TP need to give someone else a go at writing his movie scripts
The restaurant scene didn’t make any sense. He was just at the house with her, he could have told her there instead of screaming it at the restaurant. Just a dumb movie .
@@tjenks7650 Exactly!!!! I forgot about that also
Right, that was terrible
That's how it is for real sometimes, though. These dudes can be crazy....
Women who been through this know. It's a control issue. Him not wanting to see her with no one else but him. Him losing power over her when he found out she moved on and didn't want him. He would stay in the marriage just to continue to abuse her.
You hit the nail on the head with this movie critique. We are in FULL agreement when it comes to Tyler Perry. One of my favorite movie where he is not playing Madea, was "Jazzman Blues." I was blown🤯 away that he put out such a quality piece.
I personally enjoyed the movie. But I'm also not the person that goes to McDonald's expecting a Chick Fil A sandwich. 🤷🏾♀️
I appreciate this comment
😂😂😂
What’s the difference 😅between the two
I respect this comment...
good man Mcgee over here 🤣🤣
EVERY👏🏾TIME👏🏾 He needs to change it up
I appreciate the pastor being honest about the deceased. Too many time we want to gloss over how terrible someone was when they pass. That was a plus for the film 😂😂😂
Facts
Nah.
Every human being has a right to some semblance of dignity. If not for them, at least for their loved ones. While I agree it can be annoying to praise some horrible excuse of a person just because they passed, I also think it's unnecessary to bad-mouth them as shown in the movie, especially coming from a preacher.
My favorites are Good Deeds (great love story)and For Colored Girls (beautiful artistic movie).
Jazzman blues was one of Tyler Perry better written movies. Actually one of the best in my opinion
Agreed 💯
Joshua Boone was EXCELLENT! His performance broke my heart. 💔😔❤️
My favorite part: Mother apology to daughter! Very touching! Very needed today!
Least favorite: Divorce scene and after divorce scenes ESPECIALLY the guy Benji being too aggressive about spending the night! They probably wanted it to come across as steamy and romantic but it just felt creepy!
Also least favorite, the friends' husband was such a punk & was scared of him so why his wife kept saying go talk to yo boy like she don't run him too, was crazy to me
The thumbnail is sending me 😂😂
3 saxs just because of how they picked that body up out the casket 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
My favorite Tyler movie was why did I get married (the first one) and the family that prays. After that the writing and build up went downhill for him.
That thumbnail is hilarious!😂😂😂😂
I completely agree with your review!!! He didn’t provide any backstory to why she was even with someone like that. I would have loved to see a flashback of what made her fall for him. Great review!!

When the mama told them to get the brother out the casket and Dallas says “GET THA LEGS” I was immediately done. Toooo dramatic and shock factor seeking which made it effing hilarious
I agree 100%. Tyler needs to also give black writers good paying opportunities, as well. And I don't think he should take these bad reviews as hating, but as constructive criticism. He has done AMAZING things that got him to where he is now, but it could be even GREATER if he simply let others do the writing, or at least some of it. Imagine the black writers POWERHOUSE he could build. I think his writing style works for plays and TV shows, but he struggles with movies. Tyler has a lot of trauma from his childhood... he mentioned how it led him to create these fantasy worlds he would go to in his mind and it feels like he still writes from that place and that's why things always seem fanatical and extreme and just over the top. Humbly I say, it's time to mature from that place alone.
Also, I know the actors and crew probably love shooting and wrapping in ~3 weeks, but it creates an underlying rushed/low budget feel to the movies. Everything feels like its the first and only take and the editing team has little to work with.
But this movie specifically... that opening scene was way over the top... Like REALLY? There was the ONE moment Dallas showed a peek into why he's the way he is... but then it was just dropped and never mentioned again. I was also ANNOYED by the best friend who wrote down everything Dallas did... Who does that? It's like he thought... "How can the mom find out about everything... Ooooo! I got it!" Also, the timing of that 1.5hr drive between hometown and ATL just wasn't mathing. How he had time to, chill in the cut and stalk outside the bank, kill all them animals and act a fool in the grocery store and it was still daylight? And I got sicka "WHAT THE HELL YALL LOOKING AT!!?!?!" coming out of Dallas mouth.
Outside of why she was with Dallas, and Dallas himself, the thing I wondered most about is that momma. Why in the hell is she so evil and proudly raised the town menaces and terrorists? Literally, make it make sense.

I can only think of 2 Tyler Perry movies without Madea that were really good.
1. Why Did I Get Married
2. The Family That Preys
Exposition at the start is the stage play format Perry can't grow beyond.
I checked out during the funeral scene. It was ridiculously over the top. I thought it was a spoof movie for a second.
Cory : You wanna lose this job, b****?
Meagan BFF : I don't care about this f***king job
Whatttttttttt? In this economy? 😊😅😅😅 that was the plot twist hahahaha
I rather watch the reviews of this movie than the actual movie. After Mea Culpo I swore off Tyler perry, that was my last straw. But I've enjoyed his work in the past. My favorite Tyler Perry movies would have to be the Why did I get married films and the family that preys
Can we talk about how it's damn near impossible how Dallas survived that damn long? In real life, he wouldn't have made it past twenty five.
The movie was fun. It’s been even more fun watching all these reviews about it! I’m actually looking forward to his next one! 😂
1. The Family that Preys
2. Why did I get married?
At the service in the beginning it looked like Corey was agreeing with the Pastor about the dead guy. So I was shocked when he wound up being his brother and being pissed. 🤦🏿♂️
Strange
Maybe a little character development or just one redeeming quality in Corey’s character would have helped a lot!!
The Family that Preys, Jazzman’s Blues and Daddy’s Little Girls
Tyler out here writing plays still..
First timer here, great commentary! My top 3 favorite TP movies (kinda tough bc Madea's in it) are: Diary of a Mad Black Woman, The Family that Preys and Madea's Family Reunion. Thanks!
I agree about TP's writing style, which is why I didn't watch it.
3 mins in and I'm already dying🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💀..Staahhhp!!!😂😂
Tyler Perry makes life time movies and soap operas for black women and they like it. It's made him very rich.
Your review is spot on, I agree 110%
The family that preys ❤️ is a great Tyler movie
I 💯% agree with you Tony , I am tired and also noticed more people are tired of him feeding on trauma .
My favorite non Medea movies were Good Deeds and Why Did I Get Married (only the first one, not the second one). Both films had great actors. One thing that drives me crazy is that Tyler often takes from blockbuster movies and incorporates scenes into his films. For instance, in Good Deeds I couldn’t help but think of Pursuit of Happiness. Remember, Thandie was the mom in Pursuit of Happiness, but now she’s homeless in Tyler’s film. And while she and her daughter didn’t sleep in the bathroom, they did toss in a scene with them in a super dirty bathroom! Then there was the scene on the motorcycle (cue Purple Rain and they are the new Prince and Apollonia heading to Lake Minnetonka).
You must purify yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka. 😅
Addressing the darker brown skin woman as “ghetto” was typical tyler madea perrywinkle
Naw getting put in the front seat after losing a fight is FUCKING HILARIOUS!!!!!!
100% agree. It was so typical Tyler Perry. I watch his movies in hopes that maybe, just maybe, it will be different. The last movie I liked from him was A Jazzman's Blues.
Tony, I do feel like you’re giving us some specifics on how Tyler Perry could make his scripts better. That’s good! ❤❤❤ #KathyKiddEntertainment!!
Your review was right on point. There is no depth, too many unexplained subplots, timeline was not valid, character were typical I can go on ...I would give it a extra sax for the opening scene very much over the top and ridiculous but at least a new expression of disdain.
There is no such thing as a good Tyler Perry movie, Madea included. Writing is horrible pandering and black women eat that shit up. Appreciate the opportunities he give folks but it's garbage
