I like this and even in my small bedroom, I should be able to do this:) I really like how moving the light back not only gave a shadow but I think it made the leaf look more interesting.
Excellent, thank you very much. Your videos are giving me so much inspiration. Looking forward to having the time to put ideas into practice. More importantly it is a joy to see videos that are executed properly, so easy to watch and take in the information. Many youtubers could learn a lot from you. Thanks again. Mark
a great digital class on how to do a selective focus, but what if you want to add movements?, like a tilt on a tilt\shift lens, or use a view camera, with tilt and swing?, how does this analogue technique vary how you shoot. the digital is a great starting point and some 'practice' for the real thing, but if you use film how would you get it in camera using the light and exposure you have found from this exercise, now we know what effects can be added, using the sinar, even with a digital back, or something like a cambo actus with a fuji GFX body, still digital output, but with analogue controls at the front.
I think the focus is too much up front of the leaf, I think I' d have focused a wee bit further, and also, -1/3rd stop less exposure is more to my liking too. But hey, there's no right or wrong, there's only preferences. Thanks for posting your view!
Something I notice a lot from your excellent videos is that you appear to always focus manually. Is this because you trust your eye more than an arbitrary focus point, or is it from experience/tradition of doing it that way?
Hello, You make very good videos. I really enjoy watching it. But I think mentioning your camera and the brand of your lights is a bit nonsense. It has no purpose at all. Now it's like saying "look what a nice camera I have and my lighting is of the most expensive brand". And that disappoints me.
Thank you very much, I love watching your videos, alot to learn, and ideas, thank you once again and many greetings from Germany. Michael

Thanks for watching.
Do I need a macro lens in order to take a photo with so much details on the subject (leaf)?
No, I did this picture with a standard 24-70 2.8 zoom. If you want to focus closer then use an extension tube.
Thanks for watching.

I find that manual focus for still life subjects is more controllable. Thanks for watching.
@@CameraClubLive Thank you for responding, much appreciated.
