Owned a quad/utv shop for 5 years..we worked on all brands , fixing and modifying them......fixing polaris machines (atv and utv) was the bulk of our business...they look great...go like snot (when they run)...but they suck for reliability, and are a complete nightmare to work on...and parts are crazy expensive...that said ..if i won one today...i would sell it tomorrow.
Had a 570 that I obsessively took care of. Thought it was a lemon because I was fixing something every time I took it out- which was only casual, dry trails. Super plush ride. Great handling. Loved riding it when it worked. Traded for an 850 XT and don’t see myself going back to Polaris. They have really taken a crap since the days of the old sportsman 500. Sad to see.
I've heard that about them. I bought a 21 850 new and went 3000 miles without a repair. Traded it in for a 23 1000s and have nearly 2k on it without a trip to repair shop. Coming from a Yamaha grizzly in which I beat the snot out of for 4 years I was worried about reliability. Polaris does need to be cleaned and well maintained but I love them. Perhaps they are the bulk of your work because they sell so many units. 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Always loved sportsman's after owning yamaha for years.. the comfort , the performance, the versatility is un matched .. Best atv ever . I love all polaris products but I'm being genuine.. Great video guys 👍
it pains me that the biggest innovation in ATVs in the past 10 years is some wide A-Arms and some plastic updates. and yet the prices have more than doubled. the Scrambler the Renegade and the sportsman 850 and 1000 haven't changed in 10 years even longer for the Renegade.
I appreciate your input above most given your work and experience with atv’s, but I’m curious if these “S” models are any better since they’re built on a different platform than the other sportsman’s…? Different frame, driveline, etc. just a thought.
I’m glad that the OEM’s are still developing and producing new and updated ATV’s. I do own two side by sides, but if we’re going for a group ride it’s usually my wife and daughter in a SxS. I really do still prefer to ride one of my quads, even if it’s my old 05 Suzuki King Quad, the oldest machine in my fleet!
I was a Polaris guy but kept having problems with my 18 570 so went with can-am and would never go back.. I'll line my 23 outlander xxc 1000 up beside the sportsman and smoke that thing lol
This IS the best quad I've ever ridden. I LOVE this thing and it will go just about anywhere!! Can't get enough riding it! No whining about the WE shocks. It is just fine.
Not my cup of tea, but I think if your gonna build an ATV this big might as well bump the power up to be the first 100 hp ATV in the industry. Be pretty wild.
It will run 82 mph now how much faster do you want to go? I have Sportsman XP1000 90 hp and Scrambler XP1000 S 89 hp They have plenty of power I can hit 40 mph on the trails in a blink of an eye and lose control and hit a tree and be dead. 😢 And I have hit a tree with the Sportsman XP1000, just lucky enough that I miss the tree but the Sportsman XP1000 was done for the day.
@@crazyflyboy30 Sorry, but they are slow as hell. i have owned both and the suspension was good on the scrambler s with the walkers but the sportsman xp 1000 s with the cheap shocks is horrible. Top speed doesn't mean anything to me. i want acceleration and they are weak in that department.

I not racing anymore and set the Scrambler XP1000 S up for back trails so that means a lot of modifications and weigh 27x11x12 XTR on all 4 58" wide frame cut and added so wheelbase is 64" now full 3/16" steel skid plate welded on, battery relocated to the bottom frame and a long list of other modifications. I get a kick out of getting to hard point on trails and the SXS guys are turning around and I go by them and climb up like nothing. Priceless.
Like I said in the last one, I absolutely love mine and yes they did upset me with the WE change after I ordered in Sept. Of 21. I definitely have pushed the Towing a little pulling our camper at 24-2500 pounds, it did the job and some. You don't need a 100hp on this thing but, it would be cool.
Really I’m a big sportman fan but for them to come out with this and charge what they charge for this without the walker evans suspension is a let down
You are right I pulled up at 5 hills And a guy asked me about the price of my Scrambler XP1000 S and it's about $17,600 and he said that was way more than his Can Am SXS and it was nice.
No thank you I'll buy a Can-Am renegade xcc r and do circles around and two circles around this. If I wanted a little more utility I'll get the outlander I personally think you were paid for your opinion. You can watch 100 TH-cam. Videos with the comparison between the Polaris and the can ams. And now they took away The Walker Evans suspension when you get top-of-the-line Fox shocks on the competitors ATV.
My Last 2 rides i saw one both times broken down on the side of the trail after they passed me. They are definitely fast but they seem to have what looked to me like belt issues. They are huge atv.
Love to see the sales numbers for this beast. First thought was wow it has more displacement than my first car! Second thought was but it has less HP?? I miss my Raptor 😢
I wish you do a new review of the Scrambler XP1000 S because that's what I have. My Scrambler XP1000 S is modified for hill climbing and Black Trail. So it is 64" WHEELBASE and 58" wide with 27x11x12 XTR on all 4. A full 3/16 " steel skid plate welded on . Battery relocated to the lower frame to lower CG and other modifications.
After reading some of the comments. I would have to say just like Dirt ObseXXion said about the Scrambler XP1000 S you have to try it out to Believe it. After getting my Scrambler XP1000 S I don't even ride my Sportsman XP1000 anymore. Because the fun and capable level of the Scrambler is off the chart. I can't forsee ever getting anything else.
@dirttrax the truth, whats more fun, an ATV or a sxs in your opinion. Personally, i enjoy the ATV better. And ive tried a Maverick XMR with trail tires and a maverick trail. Both fast and plush. But the trail in the snow was white knuckle keeping it straight in 6-8" of snow. Where i swapped turns to an old outlander 570 2-up, then a sportsman 450, and zero issues in front or behind the maverick trail.
I still love ATVs. Still a huge fan of the Raptor. So much fun and still fairly affordable even with inflation. I've actually ridden more ATVs this season than I have in years.
Disappointed with my Polaris sportsman, while comfortable, it was no comparison to the Can Am I replaced it with. Can ams are built so much better and more capable!
@@dirttraxtv I miss worded that! I replaced the Polaris with a Can Am! And I couldn’t be happier with it. The Polaris was a nice machine, super smooth for trails, but I had a ton of mechanical issues with it constantly for the first 2 years. My Can Am I have now has been a beast and had zero issues
Depends on your budget. Canam just introduced a whole bunch of really nice ATVs priced right. Plus, the Raptor 700 is right around 10 grand. Great deal.
Why dont they make a new yamaha raptor with the mt07 motorcycle engine or the mt09 engine that would be sick with a wider srance and better shocks with manual and a clutch that would just be a sick quad
You can get over 100 HP no problem with Polaris or Can Am. I have Sportsman XP1000 and Scrambler xp1000 S and I can safely say that it's not necessary the Sportsman XP1000 will run 82 mph Stock and over 90 mph with just a tune that bumps up the rev limiter .
Do you think the scrambler 850 is as good as the 1000. I’m looking at getting a new 4x4 sport atv. But I don’t really want to spent 17,000 on scrambler 1000 or can am renegade 1000xxc.
My only complaint with the Scrambler 850 is the lack of Power Steering or EPS if you don't mind that them very fast ATV it's Faster than the Sportsman XP1000 because of the Scrambler 850 weight is so much less . I have saw a drag race.
You guys should do a tire review of the Interco Swamp Lite atv tires. They are biased ply, but the grip and tread depth that you get on such a wide variety of conditions is hard to match.
@dirttraxtv My concern is reliability and ease of maintenance between the polaris and canam. So 2023 Arctic Cat Alterra TRV limited I got in January has been flawless. I may just bite the bullet and just get a Black Hills Edition for trail riding. Everything is easily accessible on the AC.
I live in Peru. Polaris have a well establish guarantee. It is reliable I had a sportsman 570 and a 850. Both are nice… I still regret the sold of the 570. I wan the scrambler 850

@@rzl07375 mine uses fuel like it's going out of style I ride it hard so live had to replace the shocks and struts and the Ball joints but all in all it's been a pretty reliable machine as long as you don't need breaks mine never worked but I'm in Florida so there not as important but if I was riding up North I would have to fix them. What is it with Polaris and brakes not working

that's not a sport quad in my eyes. huge weight, auto transmission, shaft driven, 4wd.. the kfx700 was more of a sport quad than this behemoth. yes, it was shaft drive and auto, but it was half the weight of this thing (and still heavy by sport quad standards still) and 2wd. their is just too many things going against this being a sport quad. as far as im concerned its borderline as to whether a REAL sport 4x4 was ever made as most were just sporty versions of tradition sport/utes. a traditional sport quad is chain driven with a manual clutch transmission and light weight. too bad beer buggies took over, nothing in the 4 wheeled world is as thrilling as a sport quad in the right environment

Pricing for the highest end models is outside the budget for many consumers. Let's remember though, there's a vehicle available for just about every budget and you don't have to buy this one. For example, the Sportsman 450 HO is less than 7 grand US. That said, if you want an XP 1000 S, it is there waiting for you.

I wish they spent more effort improving their standard width machine. Those of us still loving atvs dont want a damn SXS sized machine for a reason.

I had the 850 XP and I sold it very quickly, trail rides were limited to 50 miles or risk walking because you ran out of gas. Nope, not for me.

Polaris is still stuck at 89hp. Same since the 2013 Scrambler came out. Machine keeps getting heavier with no hp increases. LAME!!!

On the terrain they are demonstrating this with, I would still choose my '05 Honda 350, best trail bike ever. This is way too wide.

Very wide and very stable. For the record, flip over anything and you could get seriously hurt.
