I think the xpedition its basically a more robust, heavier and wider version of the general with HVAC and more bed and roof configuration capability. Its basically the same engine, squeaks and rattles just like a general does from day 1
If Polaris wants to build a Jeep, why not build a Jeep? But there’s no way it’s a 3/4 ton vehicle. Plus there’s no way in hell a lot of people can justify spending that kind of money on a (toy) side x side.
You cannot do the same things with your average 30% off road major manufacture truck that you can with a dedicated 100% off road purpose built sxs. It still the silliest thing to keep claiming.
I’ll just stick with my Honda 1000-5. I’m 52 and Honda is all I’ve had growing up till now. They just work! They’re tough and reliable. And the automatic duel clutch is a beast.
The most important thing to talk about is the suspension. The xpedition has so much more travel and more trail capable compared to the XD. The XD is the ultimate work horse
Expedition 4 door ADV, one thing i noticed right away when driving one 2 days ago, was the roll was heavy. It waddels around, an the brakes were right from the show room floor. Not the best with such a large vehicle. I hope that is just bedding needed. The sway an waddle was concerning to me. Never had a sxs that did that so evident. An my passenger did say it was louder.
I am around 5 ft 8 tall and in the regular Polaris ranger crew my legs were just too short to be comfortable. The seat base was just to high. Is the XD ranger seat any lower for us short leg people.obviously I could sit in one and find out for myself but the dealers in my area haven’t had any for me to try out. Thanks for the video.
7600 RPM @ 30MPH, 115 dB, $40k?? Really just a 10 minute POLARIS Commercial. Why not use the smooth, quiet and torquey 1500 engine and "beautiful" steel belt transmission in both? Makes no sense to me, but I'm not a POLARIS customer either.
I call bs when he said there was water up to the fenders and didn’t get wet, maybe he splashed water up to the fenders but was definitely not going threw water that deep
these guys are not very smart at 3:20 they say the XD holds 3/4 ton in its bed like a 3/4 ton pickup newsflash geniuses my 3/4 to gas pickup has a payload of 3800 lbs. fords tiniest pickup the Maverick can carry 3/4 of a ton and can do it for $23K
I had a 2024 Polaris Xpedition 5 - could not stand it anymore and traded it in on the 1500 XD NO COMPARISON- Fit finish, trim noise levels are far superior - The xpedition needs A LOT OF refinement - I feel they rushed this into production without doing their home work-- Just take a look at the warped roof panels and the crappy trim around the windows - they use a "u" channel and just cut it off leaving bare metal exposed - AND THE NOISE - why I ever bought one I will never know - stay away from this and get the XD- (and that is just a few of the deficiencies!!!!!!!!!!
To be honest, I think it was asinine for Polaris to release two vehicles that are too damn similar!. Should have stuck with ranger HD , corporate the three cylinder with the steel belted CVT and NOT make the suspension so heavy duty but MORE robust, sporty like the expedition then you have best of both worlds. And yes, the expedition is ridiculously loud inside It has to be, You have a twin cylinder pushing all that weight of course you have to belt it to scream all the time this affects your eardrums as well as longevity of the powertrain. Discard the twin, utilize the triple. hell, works for Can-Am it'll work for Polaris. Polaris research and development needs a clean slate!
@@wraith511802003 very very good. Yes Polaris makes a four-cylinder however that platform is too large it will not fit in a chassis of the ranger, expedition series lol. Educate yourself for spouting shit, or you sound like a Democrat!
@@howarddavis8748 AN know it won't fit how? You keyboard engineers are a really queer group. 2 completely different models for different use. Can you use them for each, sure. not the same though
@@wraith511802003 okay smart ass You're saying the four-cylinder Polaris 2 l is going to fit transversely in a expedition ranger chassis? Is this your thinking? Try it out be a first be a hero let us know how it turned ! Lol
U guys are funny in completely enclosed cabs and Wearing Helmets 🤣 Your in an area where most people 80% won't be riding so Not A Good Comparison I own a general and I'm not paying 30,000 for a sxs
I’ve had many Polaris ATV’s (5 to be exact). I would NEVER BUY one of these overpriced things. They offer nothing over a Polaris General and I thought that was overpriced! I will buy a 2 dr jeep that I can use on the road first! They weigh just about the same! You are very limited in road use with these at 45mph laws. I own a new Chevy 2500 HD crew cab with the 6.6 gas and now Chevy uses 1 ton drivetrain in their 2500’s. These little things don’t even come close!!!
Another Polaris commercial. Unless you are or have a awesome good friend that is a Polaris mechanic with the capability of rebuilding every component on that machine. I will take this opportunity to highly recommend the Japanese competition. Yes, I’ve heard the story about the guy that had a friend that had a very reliable Polaris that he rode 8 miles an hour three times a year. So I’m good.
I would add that your buddy would need to have plenty of free time and would need to work for free as well! I have bought OEM POLARIS Parts and they are OFF THE CHAIN Expen$ive. I recently worked on friends POLARIS Ranger, if you cannot find your parts from the aftermarket, get ready to bend over at the "stealership". I had to buy a woodruff key for a balance shaft to replace one that had been left out by a so called "POLARIS Technician". That tiny woodruff key cost me $24.99 at the local "stealership". All the other OEM parts I bought were equally ridiculous in price, like $22.50 for what appears to be a Briggs & Stratton oil filter, it is insane! I have to agree, the Japanese brands offer a better product for the money.
Xpedition is a pricey pig! These are utility vehicles "UTV", not sport side-by-sides "SSS" for technical offroad trails. For someone with a farm or ranch who needs it for property work and occasional offroad trails (70/30 split) and can get a tax deduction, it's worth considering. However, for someone who primarily uses it for offroad trail rides, fishing, and hunting with an enclosed cabin, there are better options at a much lower price. For real offroad trails, I would rate both 5 out of 10. It's tippy due to high C.G., too heavy, not enough suspension travel, horrible suspension flex, and pricey! I would never in my healthy state of mind pay $40k for an OHV for real offroad trails that does not perform as it should, unless I had a farm/ranch and can write it off.
I wish the XD Powertrain came in the expedition. That would be the Goldilocks machine for me.

People are buying them, towing them with their over priced trucks.
my 5.0 4x4 Ford was $42k. Those units are far overpriced.
You cannot do the same things with your average 30% off road major manufacture truck that you can with a dedicated 100% off road purpose built sxs. It still the silliest thing to keep claiming.
So the simple solution is put the 1500 motor in the expedition and then you have something Polaris you should get on that
I’ll just stick with my Honda 1000-5. I’m 52 and Honda is all I’ve had growing up till now. They just work! They’re tough and reliable. And the automatic duel clutch is a beast.
Honestly, feels like Polaris sponsored this video.
You don’t think they did?
Well they did…
Ya that’s how it works
Have the xd best one I’ve owned had lots of razors ,rangers Etc so far solid awesome ride comfort and quite to drive
One thing that was not covered, due to the weight of both machines, neither can be legally registered as a class 2 in the state of Minnesota.
Is see that changing but yes it’s an issue.
That is a problem in that state. Not all states. Most states we can ride with tag no worries an some light education of the local police.
Yeah wow. These vehicles are heavy!
40k and still no mirrors . What a joke.
the xpedtion is the closest thing to rzr handling and performance you can buy and get HVAC.
Except you can't hold a conversation inside the cab because its so loud
@@bryce8174 incorrect. I own one and have over 300 miles on it and we love it. Have a 1 year old that rides in the back also.

I don't think the pickup was really stuck in the sand
How tight is that Tin hat?

Is it true the expedition very noisy and will the 2025's be quieter????
Im definetly wanting a 2 door xd 1500.
Pick the one the brakes work on..
Wish they would bring back victory motorcycles
Too expensive
I have no reason to own one but I still want it.
take the doors/windows/windshields off and the noise isn't that BAD
XD all the way
these are both for 50k buy truck or jeep instead
The only problem I have with them is they are about 20k over priced.
