I think the design philosophy of these kits is essentially as follows: 2.0 focuses on a highly detailed and mechanically complex inner frame, while retaining the outward appearance of the anime 3.0 focuses on greater detail on the armor and visible elements, in contrast to 2.0 where most of the design on the finished kit is hidden under the armor panels GTO focuses on simple, robust joints and range of motion What is wonderful is that these three distinct approaches provide master grade quality to each interest, and at the same time provide very different aesthetic design approaches. Of course aesthetically, 2.0 is based on the anime, 3.0 is based on the Yokohama Gundam, and GTO is based on The Origin manga. It's almost entirely up to personal preference which one you buy, and it's equally valid to collect all three. I built the 2.0 because that was exactly what I personally wanted from my RX-78.
this is by far the most detailed explanation on the difference of these 3 versions of RX-78! Good Job, I really enjoy it! Guess the Ver 3.0 will the the first one I'll eventually pick up.
Initially, when I saw the various Master Grade RX-78-2 Gundams, I thought "The version 2.0 is definitely the worst, even the 1.5 looks more detailed." However, I think the 2.0's best strength is its inner frame. The frame of the 2.0 is so good looking, I might get the kit just to paint and display the frame.
The 2.0 is my favorite, not only for it's detailed inner frame but also aesthetics. Next would be 1.5, OYW, and 3.0. Don't like Origin version or Ver Ka.
The 2.0 is less detailed on the exterior because it is intended to look like the anime/lineart. It compensates for this by having a very mechanically detailed and functional inner frame. It just depends on what you prefer aesthetically, the Yokohama "real grade" aesthetic, the more true to anime aesthetic, or The Origin manga aesthetic with the redesigns for the manga version and corresponding extra parts like the shoulder cannon, etc. For this reason it is justifiable to get all three, I think, or whichever ones you like best. We are spoiled for choice with the RX-78.
@@Johnnybomb1 same, honestly theres just something off about the origin grandaddy. For me its proportions are kinda weird I guess. Deffo getting the 2.0 soon, if I find one that is
One of the best comparisons you can find on YT. I have the 3.0 but am watching this video For the 2.0. Thinking of buying 2.0 because I have a feelings its fits in better with al the other UC models than 3.0.
Ordering MG 3.0 today. Just finished origin HG and wished I would have started on MG 3.0 but they say crawl before you walk and now that I know what I’m getting into I’m going for MG 3.0 then PG unleashed RX 78-2. Thanks for the video.
Excellent video. I'm currently building the V2.0 of the Zaku of Char. I'm looking to build one of these next. Thank you for clearly stating the differences in such a well made film.
I really like the the white armoured kneecap inside the 2.0's knee. Makes it look much less like a weakpoint compared to the 3.0. I have no idea why they made that whole knee part stick out at this weird angle on the GTO. Great video showing the differences between the three version
The Origin is the second MG I ever built (I love the shoulder cannon), but I am also tempted to get a 3.0. I used to think it would be weird to have a bunch of different versions of the same mecha, but it seems fairly common for gunpla collectors to have loads of different variants of the (basic Amuro color) RX-78-2. So I foresee myself ending up with all three MGs and the 1/100 Yokohama Gundam base version.
I got MG Deathsycthe Hell EW version, and instantly got hooked as soon as I started building. It's still not finished, and I'm already looking for the next kit. And what better to pick up, given my limited shelf (as I also collect Transformers, and I'm already running out of space), than the original gundam itself. But I'll go with Ver 3.0, it looks epic and more detailed compared to the other two. I'll just get myself prepared for frustration and some possibly loose joints(although joint glue will help there).

thanks! yes 3.0 has very nice exterior especially when you dont do painting. although it 'feels' a bit loose.
just beware of the arms building, it droves me nuts
I just got the 3.0 for christmas and this review made me fall in love with the rx78-2 design even more

That’s one of my favorite Japanese anime song winner 0083
This is probably the most intensive comparison video for these models that I've seen on TH-cam . Props! 👏
Appreciated. I d like to show people why we love gunplay model 😊
I think the 3.0 looks the most modern in terms of design…kinda see an RG blood in the 3.0 as well

Yes, try it if you like the outfit of mg 3.0!Iand t is not so bad as somebody says. Build it gently and enjoy it
I like the 2.0 and 3.0. My personal favorites would be OYW and 2.0, best of both worlds.
Such a nice video! Really enjoyed the last part with poses and the epic music :D
you get what I want to express😃

I really love Gundam RX 78-2. I am amazed by way you painted the armor to look more mechanically relevant.
YES!!!! that's what I want to show you friend! thx!
@@ModelArtSoul Such a well made video too. Incredibly well edited.
@@backpain100 thx! you must have seen the show part and I am so glad that you like it
Nice, I will definitely get a 2.0 in the future. Appreciate the review bro.
No problem 👍 glad you like the video
Great job, appreciate all the hard work, time, and detailed analysis that is presented in this video
glad to see such comment! I ll keep working on this series

Great video! I hope you're doing great, also are u doing another video? Cuz I would excited to see one you made
Thank you so much!! Yes, I am working on the following videos.
I am trying to make them as a series to show to the model players how good they are.
Various poses are cool😃
I like 3.0 the most
then you may try the skeleton on 2.0😄
比較得很仔細,塗裝也很優秀,優質影片!
好眼力啊!感謝肯定
Wow, what a nice ! You did a great work !
Thank you for sharing this video !
thanks for the comment! hope I can bring you more good videos😃
May I know what paint is used for the dark color of the inner frame?
The best review!!!!
Is the GTO okay for posing and sturdy level?
Which has the best waist connection with little to no play in it? The 3.0 is driving me mad with it so loose
try 3.0 and GTO as we showed in the video 😋 and they can do different moves on the waist
北方口音的哥们,视频做的太精彩了,bravo!
谢谢哈哈!lol
great video 👍
What you should pick?
Origin or 2.0?
if you have no rx-78, then try 2.0 first
Which the most sturdy after a few months
2.0 will still be the most sturdy one
@@ModelArtSoul oooo sht i just bought the ver 3.0
@@aliffzulhaziq6789 it's np at all. 3.0 is still very good design today although it is a bit loose but he will stand by himself. :)
@@ModelArtSoul thanks for the guide
