her voice is actually quite amazing for a female vocalist, probably took quite a bit of training to be able to do that. i admire her for it to be honest.
I'm so happy that I saw Otep at Ozzfest the day 'House of Secrets' was released. Got to see this song live and then meet the band. They are all very nice people. Otep herself was truly inspirational.

Personally, and this is just an opinion, I think she's singing as a means to convey a complex message to a broad audience in order to make people more alert as to the injustices of the world and that something must be done to put an end to them.
