This was a master piece I thought from the whole band. Alex, shifted into overdrive on this one. I remember driving to Atlanta one night as a teenager in the late 80s. I had this on cd and listened to it on REPLAY from Ocala Florida all the way up to Alpharetta GA. I had learned it the whole way up like you. Well done and a truly sleeper song by Vanhalen. You took me back to that night so thank you my friend.

Hate to nit pick, but from the jump there is a mistake. Along with the triplet pattern on the ride cymbal, Al also is lightly tapping a beat on the high hat, closing it 4 times every measure. It's hard to hear, but it gives it a sucking and releasing sound to the pattern. I watched him do this song live, and always felt it gave it more depth.

What doesn't get a ton of air play on 1984 are the better songs. Top Jimmy, Girl Gone Bad, House of Pain, and of course, drop deal legs which got got legs later on down the road. I think, in part to Family Guy.

I think this is the most underrated song on 1984. The groove of this thing is EPIC! I'm an 80's kid and this album was the soundtrack to my youth.
It was cranking at all the hangouts and parties I went to in the eighties for sure.
