I have been so enjoying all your videos. Love that you love my beautiful little country and are showing the world its beauty, culture and history! Muito obrigada! ❤️🇵🇹❤️
Hello once again you to crack me up never a dull moment with Nick I did not realize that Nick was a history teacher that was a lot of history he was talking about I like the mosaic tiles the best Nick there is an idea for your bathroom floor laugh out loud take your forever but everything else was just 2000 years old rocks to me A idea for your nick every time you visit and Old site take a rock Back home with you as a souvenir right On it to tell you where it’s from in 20 years you can build a wall with them rocks after that adventure need a well-deserved beer rock on🤩🤩🤩🤩
Thanks John, there is enough ruin already at my house, and by that I mean my house 🤣 We have several stone piles already and several to sift through, stone is plentiful and cheap here so I'll abstain from pinching roman ruins 🤣🤣 Thanks for your valued support our friend, we hope you are well 💛💚❤
Wow! Wow! Wow! This place is amazing!!! I have become a fan of the old British show Time Team. Nothing they have done or shown even compares a tiny bit to this. Can you imagine how many thousands of hours it would have taken to lay those mosaics? This must have been a huge city of its time. There seemed to be lots of wealth. Nick you are going to have to give Sarah a Microphone so we can hear her jokes. I got a great laugh at "Plumb Bob Squarepants". 😂🤣😂 Again, thank you very much for sharing this. It was unlike anything I have ever seen. As a lover of history this place fascinated me. I will be going there when I go to Portugal.
I thought that! Loads of slaves on their knees laying mosaics one piece at a time! We honestly didn't expect what we found there, it was remarkable and beautiful and informative. I agree, Sarah is sharp and funny and quick as lightning, she has been splitting my sides for decades 🤣 As always, thank you ❤💛💚 We would need different cameras for satellite microphones and we are just getting there with edits and learning to use what we have. I will put it on the list 👍
@@destino2portugal Please don't think I was complaining about not being able to hear Sarah. It was just that she did come up with several funny quips throughout this video. You do a fantastic job with the videos!
@@PidasianHippie not at all, the sound has been a pain for me and a bug bear. I think we are starting to grow in quality of edits and professionalism, what won't change is us, this we can promise. What you see is what I've always known, Sarah is hilarious and it's taken a while for her to feel comfortable filming this. Your comments are always warmly welcomed here and always will be ❤💛💚
The appreciation is very much reciprocal guys, we absolutely loved your last vlog and it made me wistful for dismissing your property. You have vision we can only aspire too. Sarah said she wouldn't want to live there mind 🤣🤣🤣 I'm starting to long for a deeper solitude, akin to what you've found 💚💛❤ Have a wonderful day in paradise amigos.
Are you surveyor ? I ask because you recognised at once the plumb- bob ( in Portugal called 'Fio de prumo') we use to get the orthoganility of the base of tripod where we put the theodolite or level.
I work in construction, masonry was my trade so know of these tools. It amazes me the plumb walls the Romans built and are still plumb today! Incredible knowledge and skills ❤💚💛
Once again....it's a pleasure to follow you both on these expeditions. Amazing place for sure with such beauty and wonderful craftsmanship.....it is nice to see it all !
Hi Nick and Sarah, following watching your journey has cemented our decision to take the plunge and move over to Portugal next year .Loving this area .Like you we want to find a place off the beaten track with not too much land .My husband however cannot knock a nail in straight. To take on something that you have would mean we would have to find the relevant tradesman. We want a place that we can put our own stamp on ,along with growing are own veggies.I love up-cycling furniture in fact I can do more do it yourself than my hubby . I would also like somewhere we could rent out at some point that was situated on our land .Can I ask how long after you found your home ,did it take from having your offer accepted to getting the keys.In a nut shell cutting the waffle we just want a live the same sort of life that the both of you are being able to do .Keep the videos coming Hopefully we would be able meet up for coffee and cake once our own Portuguese journey starts .Hugs to you both x
It took about a month in total from viewing to completion, so not too long. Make sure you use due diligence in the process and check the topographical surveys. I dont blame you for wanting the change, start learning the language now, use drops the app and Sarah also uses Duolingo, maybe find some lessons, it will really help! Best of luck and keep us informed, coffee and cake is always welcome in our world 💚💛❤
@@andreaball1840 if you're close to us I may be able to help you if and when I get the appropriate licences. Excellent job filming these ruins - so interesting! We're really enjoying watching you two explore the different towns and attractions. Looking forward to more! 🙌🏽
If you guys like ancient roman ruins the best example in the Iberian Peninsula can be found in the city of Mérida in Spain, worth a visit if it interests you.
Very lovely indeed … you two are certainly packing in great trips … great ! It is good you can comfortably stay at your house and renovate in between trips while Sarah is there, which I’m sure will reverse to taking trips in between renovation, so savour the moments Nick 😀 … 🙏☘️😘
Blows the mind the construction skills that the roman empire had, sadly the nazis ruined a bronze age ancient symbol of peace, nature, 4 seasons and all that to a symbol of madness. If you built an aristocratic roman manor today it would be a never ending jaw dropping for everyone that visited. Plumb bob scrotus xD
It is remarkable, the labour that went in and not a power tool in sight! I did ponder the amount of slave labour used for some of this massive project... The house of the fountain was astonishing. I wonder if there are any reproduction houses in Italy *heads to google*
