Just a word of caution, be careful with any of the electronics you took from the studio. We had a housefire a little over 7 years ago. Fortunately it was contained to the basement, but we couldn't live in the house for a year while it was being reno'd. My mother in law lives next door to us, so we stayed with her. My PC was upstairs so it wasn't destroyed in the fire. A few days after it happened, I was able to grab it. It worked for a week or so, then started tripping the breaker as soon as it was turned on. Turns out the smoke fried the PSU. With all the ash that was in your studio, I'd be leery of it. Best of luck to you man, we're all rooting for you.
i worked with Plasma cutters cutting up to 2" the metal dust was NUTS! its crazy all the PC's in the office and shop where filled with it and it amazes me how none of them shorted out!
I fully second this! A couple years ago, my cousin lost his home in a fire as well (Not from a CA wildfire). He went to work, left his laptop plugged into the wall, and the battery swelled and caught on fire. *Technically* the only part of the house on fire was the front, but the entire house was ruined. The smoke got into every crevice of the house and it was ruined, all ruined. There were some things that were already packed up on boxes, on the other side of the house, but even those things absolutely REEKED of smoke. If there was anything that was even slightly exposed to smoke? Permanently covered in a bed of smoke and ash - from clothes laying on a bed, to in a closet or in drawers. So yeah... Even when we read about how there are houses in California they have been "spared" from the fire? I just don't see how any of those houses aren't ruined by all of the smoke - it happened to my cousin's when it was just half of one house, let alone the staggering size and spread of the fires in LA.

@@griffhawkins8909 That's the truth. We had to wash all of our clothes and bedding with TSP, and it took multiple washes each load to finally get the smoke smell out. In our case, we had an old fridge in the basement for storage and the motor caught fire. Thank god we were home and it was around 7PM, so we were able to catch in time before the whole house went up. But it still destroyed the basement and we ended up having to replace the basement ceiling/floor of upstairs for my son's room since that's where the fire was centered. We had a Servpro type company, but not Servpro itself, clean everything. Insurance paid for that fortunately. And those companies are leaches, there were 3 different companies watching the firefighters put it out. They must have scanners and go as soon as they hear a fire called out. Your videos on the fire and dealing with the loss of everything have really resonated with me. I went through a very similar situation myself back in 2019. I was away on a business trip and woke up to a frantic call from my neighbor saying my house was on fire. I live by myself so the house was empty (I'm so thankful my dogs were with my brother at the time). They didn't know I was out of town and had been busting out windows trying to get inside. The fire started at 4am when no one was home and the sound of the flames eventually woke them up. At that point the house was completely engulfed. I live in rural Alaska, so by the time the fire department managed to get there it was a lost cause. I'll never forget that morning as I scrambled to hastily work with my employer to get flights back home from Florida... and then just that mind-numbing fog that hung over my head the entire trip home as I ran from one airport to another, fielding phone calls from family and friends. Trying to make sense of all the chaos as it washed over me like a flood. There was nothing left. The fire had burned so hot that my car's aluminum engine block had melted to the concrete floor of the garage in a puddle. In the end, the root cause of the fire was never determined. There just wasn't anything left for the investigators to look at. What really struck me is your reaction here when you pulled up to your house. It was almost exactly how I remember that first drive back when what remained of my house came into view. Just seeing nothing but a pile of burnt ash and debris where the house used to be. I stood there in the driveway just like you in muted silence trying to process it all for some time. It didn't feel real. I wish you the best of luck with recovering from this. It took me 2 years to make myself whole again after I lost everything except for what I had in my suitcase for the business trip. Having family to rely on really helped me and I'm glad you have that same support. It really makes a big difference. For everyone else watching this, I hope I can pass on some valuable lessons I learned to help someone else deal with such a life-changing event in the future. 1. Take pictures of all your belongings in every single room of your house. Catalog all of your stuff and then store those photos off-site in some way or another. Having said photos will make itemizing your losses a lot easier with insurance so that you have proof of ownership should they try to fight you on something. 2. Check your homeowners insurance policy and make sure there's no carve-outs for certain categories of belongs. In my case, State Farm had an exclusion for "auto parts" and what that ultimately meant was that the summer tires and OEM rims of my truck were not covered. I had Geico auto insurance and since the tires and rims were not on the truck (at the airport), they also did not cover the loss. So I ended up eating ~$6k for all of that in the end. Also make sure that you have addendums to cover unique things like a large stamp collection, or something else of high value that is not normally owned by an average person. Most insurance providers have such add-ons that can be added to your policy. 3. Get a fireproof safe for your important documents. I was always skeptical of how well these work, but I was absolutely stunned that my cheap one from Walmart survived. And that meant all my docs like my birth certificate, passport, etc survived. Even with the fire burning hot enough to melt aluminum, that cheap little safe hung in there. It was literally the only thing I was able to recover from the remains of the house. I wish you the best, Kyle. Keep being awesome and hang tough. It will take some time, but you will be made whole again.
I hope that returning to your office and getting back to some normalcy has helped you close one chapter and begin to look forward to the next. Looking forward to taking the ride along with you!

Should make a video on how to safely clean a PC that is full of ash and soot after fire where the PC survived. Might be the only time you are able to this.
Hey I think I can speak for everyone watching this... that it is great to see you light up and back to your quirky cheerful self in this video. Have fun cleaning the office... No I'm serious... I think the act of cleaning the office can be therapeutic and takes your mind off things! Stay safe and hang in there!
Bro just a reassuring word, you and yours are safe , the equipment can be bought/replaced lives is irreplaceable/precious. Buck up dude, glad you can start vlogging again. Cheers and chin up.😁😁.
Hey Kyle, you should probably reupload/blur out your keys to the studio. Because people are able to duplicate keys just by a picture/video nowadays. Stay safe, and healthy!
Glad this was mentioned! Went straight down to the comments after seeing the shot of the new key. Its really not that hard to even just 3d print a copy of a key from a picture, so PLEASE change your locks!
It was awesome to see you as your excited self getting the gear from the shop. In all seriousness, you do need to give yourself a moment to take all the loss and stress in and deal with it emotionally. I know you're still in the shock phase, but your soul needs to process this and the grief has to come out before you can fully move forward. It's perfectly fine to cry at the sad parts of life, just don't stay there.
I love the $20 dollar folding table with the $2000 dollar GPU on the test bench. I say keep the candid format going forward. Failure is sometimes more valid than success.
@Bitwit : Kyle I think that you were extremely lucky that you still have everything at your office, with that place also being "in the line of fire", so to speak. You still have a huge amount of hardware so you can easily build a good PC (or more than 1, if needed), especially now that you have access to the office again. You haven't lost as much as other people have. P.S. : in case you decide to remove the rubble and build a new house on your plot maybe you could film it (I would definitely watch a Bitwit house build vlog 😎), and build your new home on top of a concrete bunker/basement/saferoom or something so that you have a fireproof room. And maybe consider building houses with concrete, bricks, mortar, steel, ... like Europeans do.
It's tough man, there is one HUGE advantage to this disaster for you. You don't have to pack anything and move it to wherever you decide is your next place you call home man. Keep your chin up, you're alive, you're healthy, your cats are safe with you. Much love man.
I know you don't need to hear anything negative right now but it's a bad idea to flash your keys even for a moment like that. It's very easy to grab a snapshot of them decode the key cut and make a copy. I only say this because you have gone through so much I would hate for theft to be piled on.
GOD bless you Kyle. Thank you for sharing this video. My eyes got a little watery when you stopped by your home. ❤ I see you you but I still cannot imagine what you are going through. Please stay strong and keep yourself going. Each day will get better just stay in touch with family and friends.👍🏾👍🏾
Even the studio covered in ash is such an unfortunate thing. That’s sooo much cleaning that must be done, especially inside of the PCs and on all of the surfaces in the entire building, including all of the furniture.
I agree about the cleaning which needs to be done, cleaning repainting etc or replacing anything distorted or deflected by heat though not burned. Sadly from what I know from people in Kyle"s situation at his office, even some things which survived can't be cleaned, odour damaged still results in them being discarded. Some insurance companies are good about this - others not so.
I find the glimpse into your life more interest than the 5080. Love you Bro. Keep up the great work, we all all behind you. Kyle means more to us (your fans) than a 5080. I had to start over twice before but I did not lose everything like you did. I was homeless for a bit. I can sympathize with what you are going through.
Happy to see the office is still standing. Condolences for the situation and hope that you and everyone else that was affected are recovering smoothly.
As someone who went through similar circumstances of losing nearly everything after Hurricane Michael in 2018, getting back on the horse is all you can do. You've seemingly got a really good group of people around you and you're already back at it. You've got this, even if it takes time.
It's absolutely crazy to see so many houses destroyed and 1 or 2 with no damage from the road. Fire is such a strong force. Going by your house to take in the sight is similar to visiting a grave site to pay your respects. It's part of the process, we get it.
If Kyle 2.0 wasn't the definition of resilience, then Kyle 3.0 absolutely is. Mate (we say mate in Australia..) you are genuinely an inspiration. We get fires here (like we really do) but the way you are still the way you are. Just. Inspirational.
Glad to see that the Audi is fine. You know what they say - You can sleep in a car but you can't drive a house - Nothing a nice spirited drive can't fix 😊 Wish you all the best Kyle 🙏
After watching your last video then watching you walk into the office and seeing that your livelihood has survived, I almost burst out into tears. Also super cute that one person asking to take a picture of you. haha Loved that. And don't worry, we got the numbers on the cards. Personally, I like seeing the vlogs and seeing you're doing ok.

6:00 Jeezus, to see all that aftermath, that devastation. My heart breaks for so, so many unfortunate people who lost everything! What price do we put on our possessions? Our memories? Our lives that we've built for years? One can say that to be grateful for what you have, that you are alive and made it out okay. That you have loved ones and friends for support. No discounting any of that at all. But how do we content with what was lost? Homes can be rebuilt, but the memories of what was will never be forgotten. Kyle, stay upbeat, my dude. I dont know if you have any plans for any upcoming charity streams for possibly helping out your community maybe, but if you do, I'll be sure to do what I can to show my support!
Stay S💪RONG Brother! I hope everything slowly but surely falls into place and you stay positive throughout all your adjustments in your life. Take care Brother! Much love from Chicago!🫶
He's certainly blessed-at the very least, his studio, filled with expensive computer parts, didn't burn down. Considering the added cost of the building and everything inside, it’s likely worth more than his house.

You throw it out and build a new one. 😅
Would actually find a tear down and deep clean video really interesting. I think seeing all that ash come off would be really satisfying.
I want to do this (my house is smoke damaged from the fire) but I really want to try to salvage my 3090 because of the shortages right now.
Kyle this vlog style is ABSOLUTE GOLD! Please keep this format coming! Thank you for the AWESOMESAUCE!
This
Glad this was mentioned! Went straight down to the comments after seeing the shot of the new key. Its really not that hard to even just 3d print a copy of a key from a picture, so PLEASE change your locks!
well, a key is pretty useless without knowing the door it belongs to.
@megapro125 just look for the 1 office still standing
@@megapro125 and a lock is useless if you have the key. Why even take the chance?
It was awesome to see you as your excited self getting the gear from the shop. In all seriousness, you do need to give yourself a moment to take all the loss and stress in and deal with it emotionally. I know you're still in the shock phase, but your soul needs to process this and the grief has to come out before you can fully move forward. It's perfectly fine to cry at the sad parts of life, just don't stay there.
Prayers for a smooth and speedy conclusion to this whole situation!
I love the $20 dollar folding table with the $2000 dollar GPU on the test bench. I say keep the candid format going forward. Failure is sometimes more valid than success.
Love this guy. Despite the horrendous tragedy he keeps going. If I had money I’d buy him a new house.
Shoutout to those taking in your neighbors. You all are true angels.
It’s fine Kyle. You share what you can in the video. At least it was fully honest and transparent. Tomorrow is another day. Keep it up.
The human resolve... NEVER STOP NEVER STOPPING!
Man out of all of this, I'm just so glad that your cats were okay.
Would be great if you made a cleaning a PC video. I’m being honest, would be a good video for us to know how to properly clean them.
This video has everything! RS3, Mexican food, cats. Kyle’s vlogs are the best!
FYI, Ash can be somewhat conductive, probably a good idea to blow out anything from the office before powering it up...
Ok 8:53 caught me off guard so bad LMFAO.
Lmao, they should have an aisle for them in the store so they are not sitting in the sun all day. 😅
Same !! 😂😂😂😂😂
Unfortunately they are all on a military plane by now
Kyle: "I'm gonna thank the next Mexican I see."
Narrator: "He never thanked the next Mexican he saw."
Happy to see the office is still standing. Condolences for the situation and hope that you and everyone else that was affected are recovering smoothly.
11:46 they look so comfortable
Hang in there sir. Just another chapter. Have a wonderful day and days going forward.
I love the 80s style montage at 8:58
As someone who went through similar circumstances of losing nearly everything after Hurricane Michael in 2018, getting back on the horse is all you can do. You've seemingly got a really good group of people around you and you're already back at it. You've got this, even if it takes time.
3:16 the bottle of Jägermeister next to the sink is low key hilarious
Love to see Kyle getting back up and running.
It's absolutely crazy to see so many houses destroyed and 1 or 2 with no damage from the road. Fire is such a strong force. Going by your house to take in the sight is similar to visiting a grave site to pay your respects. It's part of the process, we get it.
We're are buckled in for the ride Kyle. Full steam ahead brother!
One day when the creative urge strikes you I would love to hear from Lyle about all your recent life events. He is the best brother a dude could have!
i can just see the hurt in your face man, keep your head up and look at the positives in this situation man❤️
If Kyle 2.0 wasn't the definition of resilience, then Kyle 3.0 absolutely is.
Mate (we say mate in Australia..) you are genuinely an inspiration. We get fires here (like we really do) but the way you are still the way you are. Just. Inspirational.
how your content gets better after such a heartbreak is amazing my dude
Glad to see that the Audi is fine. You know what they say - You can sleep in a car but you can't drive a house - Nothing a nice spirited drive can't fix 😊 Wish you all the best Kyle 🙏
You need to do whatever it takes to process this tragedy. Your people here will stand by you.
Who needs a 5090 video when you have this one! Enjoyed it!
After watching your last video then watching you walk into the office and seeing that your livelihood has survived, I almost burst out into tears. I'll admit, I haven't been a sub of yours as I try to keep only so many Tech tubers in my rotation, but you've always made me laugh and I've enjoyed a lot of your content over the years. I'm happy to see you and the wife survived and are healthy and I'm so sorry for all that you have lost. Now I have no choice but to sub, it's the least I can do and hopefully something that helps you recoup a bit more. Sending you, your family and the crew my love. Also super cute that one person asking to take a picture of you. haha Loved that.
And don't worry, we got the numbers on the cards. Personally, I like seeing the vlogs and seeing you're doing ok.
Man this video was great had ups and downs more humor. I felt like hugging you and then the Mexican joke made me laugh. Im happy you are still able to find joy even through the grief. I always loved your vlog style videos. Keep on thriving and being there for us and your beautiful personality.
While I know it's more necessity than choice, but really liking the vlog style videos, feels very grounding despite everything thats happened. Much love and hope things start getting back on track.
I'm glad you're ok, I'm also glad you're bringing us into this journey with you. Thanks again Kyle!
Kyle, I don't normally comment on videos, but I wanted to say your positivity throughout all this is inspiring. Thanks for sharing. Keep on moving!
Congratulations on getting into your office and your tech stuff. It gladdens my heart to see it, I'm so happy for you man!
Stay S💪RONG Brother! I hope everything slowly but surely falls into place and you stay positive throughout all your adjustments in your life. Take care Brother! Much love from Chicago!🫶
Stay strong bro, you got this. Thoughts and good wishes with you.
He's certainly blessed-at the very least, his studio, filled with expensive computer parts, didn't burn down. Considering the added cost of the building and everything inside, it’s likely worth more than his house.
Bitwit,
These are hard times for sure and very happy your office and hardware survived.
Ive been lucky these 31 years,a few major forest fires and I got lucky.
I saw the aerial footage of the destruction,so sad but you and everyone else will get
through this.....Blessings to you, BigT
really been enjoying these vlog style updates. its honestly kinda nice how it stands out from the rest of the usual tech space being so over polished. not that that style is bad, but different is nice too. glad to hear that your office lived and hopefully all the tech minus the PSU's from ash damage potentially.
I will watch the results no matter when you got it online ! Take your time, everything is okay 😊❤
Can only imagine the stress you feel trying to create content at the moment. Thanks for sharing the rawness of all this, I pray that you and yours will find peace and strength, one day at a time. ❤
Glad to see things are coming along smooth! Praying for you and all those effected by these fires!
You doing amazing considering the situation going on. It will get better, and we be here for it.
I got the feels Kyle, I really did. Went through some not too long ago, and did what you've done -- staring at broken pieces. Stay strong brother 💪
I am born and raised in Altadena and its still my home. It breaks my heart to see all of the destruction. I know we will rebuild, keep your head up. Altadena will come back as good as ever.
You have to give yourself ALOT of grace. You're brave and can see you love what you do especially dealing with your circumstances. Just surprised you got up and pressed record to post for us. God bless you and your family and friends 🙏
I love the honestly and vulnerability here. Sending positive vibes!
Whatever you put up I will watch. You are one of my favorite personalities to watch. Always genuine.
you're going to be just fine, my guy. its tough but it seems you have a great support system around you. rooting for you!
Everything can be rebuilt. I am just very happy that you and the cats are safe.
Man that sad music with the drive by hit deep. Stay strong man 👊
When life gives you lemons, keep up the good work Kyle 👏🏻
I love these updates bro! Keep them coming. It was such a heartwarming moment when the dude asked for a picture.
Love you Kyle! Keep doing what you are doing. Time only moves forwards and its taking you with it whether you like it or not! :)
keep keepimg your head up I won't ever stop watching your material. prayers to you & your family, friends
keep up the good work. You'll get through this and God bless!!
For me this video was much better than any benchmark. Thank you!
don't feel too bad about not getting the reviews done, this was a far more intimate and nice video, wishing you the best, I almost got emotional for you walking through your "house" I can't imagine how you're feeling and everything you're dealing with, wishing you the best
I feel for you Kyle. I live in Cali for 10 years and went through 1 tiny EQ, now I'm back home in Az and don't have to worry about those or fires or mudslides. Stay Strong and you'll come back better then ever. Big Fan.....
I'm happy you got some Pokémon stuff... You have a wonderful mom!!! I'm also happy for you that you got a rig so you can test new hardware. Good luck and God bless!!!
Mom’s coming in clutch with the fire type. Glad to see you with a forward facing mentality!
Really loving seeing your positive outlook after everything that's happened
