I don't think there was anything obvious at all. In fact, she led the conversation quite often and made a lot of jokes. As someone who's had depression, there's definitely an element of hiding it. But there's also an element of being so deep in the pit that you can't hide it (think Jonah Hill's character in Maniac), and Simone was not there. They should reopen the case and determine if it really was a suicide.

As a person who battles with depression, I can tell Simone is not really having the best day maybe internally. Like how she is acting is how I would in a group setting like this. So sad and heartbreaking.

This! I was thinking about it the other day. When GRL first started, Robin had some podcast show and the girls were on it too. They were talking about how Robin found the girls and I remember Simone saying that when Robin approached her, she didn't wanna be in a girl group but somehow ended up with them. After they released like 3 singles that didn't do so well or as expected (I remember Dr. Luke tweeting before the release of vacation that they're gonna be big) and with Ugly heart getting some momentum, Simone probably saw it as an opportunity to go solo depsite having limited exposure but she probably thought it would help her solo career. That's why the girls here seem to ignore her. 1:18 confirms it all. To them, she was ditching the band. And obviously it's not easy getting out of contracts and she was hella stressed travelling/rehearsing. And having Robin on the team is a burden itself. Also, going back to when she commited, Robin did an interview or a podcast and she was asked about managing the band. She said that she's the one who has to deal with it, it's a group of girls, one of them wants to go solo etc.. so probably that was the case at that time but Simone saw no way out.

I don't follow the music industry as much as used to, but her death is haunting, because it just seems like someone who was on the cusp of fame would not suddenly take their own life, unless something traumatizing happened in her life.

My daughter Jazzlyn Little knew Simone as well as I did from X-Factor 2011. They performed and traveled together on the show and Simone use to call me uncle Dave. She was beautiful inside and out with a passion for creating and performing music. That's why it shocked me to the core when I found out that she committed suicide. Something must have happened to her that destroyed her to the point where she felt suicide was the answer. People, my daughter left the entertainment business because it was truly a wicked place to be. In the business when your just getting started high-level producers who are established as hitmakers will try to compromise you. This is the beginning of selling your soul, and this continues if you want to remain in the spotlight to reach fame and fortune. The mistake people make when they do this is yes you can obtain wealth and fame but after time of having to go to industry parties to mingle with other artist and corporate executives where drugs and sex is the only currency, you will eventually change into a slave to this vice or become so depressed that you feel suicide is the only answer. This is the Devil's playground. I don't know what happened to Simone Battle, but it is pretty clear from this video that something was affecting her joy. You could see the turmoil in her face as she tried to smile. All Simone wanted to do was her music. She studied music so there was much love for it. Something got her, and the Devil got his prize and that is a lost soul. The Devil's greatest trick is to make you think he does not exist. and that followers of Christ are out of their minds. The world you live in did not happen by chance or the life that is on it. Science's attempt to explain it is merely based on man's theory, but the truth is much greater than that. Don't try to obtain your kingdom without God. Let Jesus be your guide because when this life is through which is very short and for some even shorter (like Simone's) your eternal life will begin, and the kingdom of God will be beyond your imagination (full of riches) just as hell is too but hell is for suffering. As a person who battles with depression, I can tell Simone is not really having the best day maybe internally. Like how she is acting is how I would in a group setting like this. So sad and heartbreaking.

it's honestly so sad. she was such an enthusiastic person, she would be the last I would ever think had depression let alone commit suicide. it's honestly SO tragic I could cry. how on earth is mental health not taken more seriously? why is there such a stigma? she was such a beautiful, talented ray of light. it's such a shame.

There's stigmas on most mental illnesses, not just depression. It annoys me when people don't take you serious when you tell them that you feel depressed. I think that's one reason why Simone didn't reach out for help. If people started taking depressed people more serious, then they wouldn't hesitate to speak up.

Guys I don’t think they were excluding Simone, it seems very natural how they talked. Simone was just not comfortable enough to merge into it. And she seems very awkward too, which means she’s not happy with herself, she’s not comfortable with herself enough to talk, to join the conversation and be a part of the conversation. This! I was thinking about it the other day. When GRL first started, Robin had some podcast show and the girls were on it too. They were talking about how Robin found the girls and I remember Simone saying that when Robin approached her, she didn't wanna be in a girl group but somehow ended up with them. After they released like 3 singles that didn't do so well or as expected (I remember Dr. Luke tweeting before the release of vacation that they're gonna be big) and with Ugly heart getting some momentum, Simone probably saw it as an opportunity to go solo depsite having limited exposure but she probably thought it would help her solo career. That's why the girls here seem to ignore her. 1:18 confirms it all. To them, she was ditching the band. And obviously it's not easy getting out of contracts and she was hella stressed travelling/rehearsing. And having Robin on the team is a burden itself. Also, going back to when she commited, Robin did an interview or a podcast and she was asked about managing the band. She said that she's the one who has to deal with it, it's a group of girls, one of them wants to go solo etc.. so probably that was the case at that time but Simone saw no way out.
I wished someone would've noticed her change in behavior and not keep going with the she's okay act. Depression is serious and it can happen to anyone. It hurts to see such a beautiful, sweet, and talented person take her own life because she would've impacted the world so much today.

@Ashlee Tyler -- it doesn't even seem real that she would take her own life, when it the group seemed to be doing well. I don't follow the music industry as much as used to, but her death is haunting, because it just seems like someone who was on the cusp of fame would not suddenly take their own life, unless something traumatizing happened in her life.

@@tierral9052 That's the official line. We don't know that. Money worries come waaay after other issues have already started. Sometimes one's color plays a massive role in how they are treated and that leads to a lack of opportunities that her white bandmates took for granted. It's easy to say it's just down to money. She was bullied by some fans. That tells me a lot. She was singled out, that often translates to depression especially when you understand your lack of success and opportunities.
