My dad was around srinagar area during Kargil war😢said about the situation how the army faced the situation with fearless ,mentally strong and active in thinking in implementation 😊of missile launch 😊 specific target
My brave dad is an exemplary gunner soldier of proud Artillery Regiment since 1959,served meritorious service with 15 Fd Regt,176 Fd Regt., ARTY records Nasik Road Camp, Devlali, 32Fd Regt., 34FdRegt. and then served as Pradhan with GP,Dhar, for almost more than 27years in himachal pradesh. Then silently he faded away on13thSept,2024,the same day he enrolled in the INDIAN ARMY ,on Sept13,1959. This is the short span of a brave gunner. Proud of my gunner dad,who carried on the torch of Army tradition in our family since 1914. A Great Salute 🫡 to the Great Soldier.❤🙏🕉 JAI HIND. 🙏 SARVATRA IZZAT-O IQBAL.
What INDIA should do to become a respected MILITARY power : 1. Buy latest generation machines & upgrade conditions of ordnance factories, HAL. 2. Hire new skilled workers & layoff 60% of 50+ aged workers of ex OFB & other sister orgs. 3. Ensure $3 billion for DRDO's R&D labs from 2025 & increase it 15% per year. Aero engine testing facilities need massive investment at war footing. 4. Start a national project to bring immigrant researchers & educators (STEM only) from USA+Europe+ AUS. Build a dedicated modern township with highest quality for them. 5. Buy pistols, rifles & other accessories from local manufacturers only, not licensed products. 6. Procurement procedures of locally produced equipment needs to be shortened. 7. IAF needs to order 6-8 A-330 mrtt & 30-40 mid weight cargo planes asap. 8. Modernise the shipyards and offer corvettes and frigates to friendly countries. Ship building timeline are too slow in India currently, needs to be shortened by 30%. 9. Build a dedicated airport for private sector drone manufacturers in the desert of Rajasthan/Gujarat.
8. Actually place orders of munitions. DPSUs and Private Industry have the capacity but its lying idle. If we have to face a two front war, our 230 Artillery Battalions will be spitting out 60,000 shells per day (assuming the same intensity of fire as in Kargil). As per publicly available info, India's current arty shell production capacity is so low that it'll take us more than one year to manufacture 60,000 shells. Like I said, that will be gone on the first day or two of combat. Our War Wastage Reserves will definitely not last for the entire duration of a Modern war given how Ukraine-Russia war stretched out beyond the 1-2 months that our Reserves are supposed to last us. This notion that a modern war is short and swift needs to go. We'll be up against the military industrial might of China: the literal manufacturing superpower of the world. Like they say, amateurs talk tactics and professionals talk logistics. Logistically speaking, a war between India and China is a war between the industries of both nations. A war to see who can outproduce the adversary. Kind of similar to World War 2 USA and USSR vs Germany and Japan. And the only weapons of Modern Warfare that lend themselves to WW2 style wartime production is Artillery and Infantry weapons. And maybe missiles. Maybe. Consider also that ammo dumps can be lost to enemy attacks in war. Such measly ammo production rates are not nearly sufficient and we can't increase our wartime production of shells by a factor of 100 within one-two months that the reserves are supposed to last. At least get the ammo production capacity to half a million shells per year in peacetime. So that we can bump it up higher in wartime. Such peacetime capacity doesn't need to churn out shells at 100% of capacity. Just keep it middling in capacity so that the infra invested in half a million shell per year production factories achieves break even. And now you'll say "ammo is fine, what about the gun barrels"? They'll wear out at that rate. And the guns themselves will face attrition in face of enemy fire." To which I say, invest more in Kalyani, TATA and AWEIL gun barrel factories. I think Baba Kalyani said something about a one artillery gun per day production rate. That is the level we need in peacetime. So that in wartime, it becomes possible to bump it up even further and replace the guns faster than they are lost/worn out.
Lear from Ukraine war. Russia is firing 25000 to 30000 shell every day. Then think what China will do. Chinese army can fire 60000 artillery shell every day for long war. Then think........ Where India stand.
One thing you’re forgetting is terrain. While Eastern Ukraine is mostly plains, our border with China is dominated by the Himalayas and is far from the mainland of China. Due to such terrain, first of all they won’t be able to bring that many artillery systems to the front and 60k shells won’t be sustainable, neither efficient due to resupply issues

Chinese didn't have 60k capability, Russians do have Chinese put more emphasis on infantry
