My father served in siachan for 3 years. He told me stories about it but never imagined it would be this difficult. My respect for him went up today. Jai hind
Edit : lol i got so many replies. Some of you are right the max you spend up there is 4-6 months. My father served with 2 different units at the base for 3 years
And went up to both glacier 1 and 2 from 4+ 4 month. Thank you all for your response.

Siachen is not only highest battle field , But it's an emotion of serving in the coldest battle field in the world,
I am from Nubra valley, I am also been to Siachen glaciers as porter for Indian army 2020-21, porter also play significant rule in Siachen glaciers known as forth piller of siachen glacier
e,g. "4 Ter" is very important at Siachen glacier.
1. Heli kopter
2. Snow scooter
3. Doctor &
3. Porter
This four Tar is lifeline in Siachen glaciers, But people rarely know about the porter secrifice & their story😢 it's need to be recognised.
Depth of my heart I salute 🫡Indian army who served toughest duty in -40 to -50 c° at Siachen glaciers ❤jai hind.

My father served in siachin glacier for 1 yr , he met with Frost bite but still he didn't give up , I used to hear a lots of stories regarding it 🙂

I got goosebumps watching this engrossing and professional production that got extremely close to the extreme challenges that men and women of India's defence forces face in their daily lives on these rarefied and frigid heights. The professionalism, commitment, dedication, tenacity, courage and selflessness of these people using highly specialised equipment took my breath away. Day in, day out, amid immense natural and military hostilities, these amazing people are safeguarding India's freedom - the source of jealousy among the nation's enemies. Jai Jawan, Jai Hind!

The local porter also played a very crucial role at siachen as there the temperature is always in minus they drive the snow scooter to post to another post and also helping Indian army in this minus temperature and I have been to Siachen glacier twice and the dedication of Porters and Indian army is really great jai hind

My Dad served in the Assam Regiment, now He's retired, During the mid-90ś he along with some of his comrade, they were selected for Siachen, He told us to be selected for all there's Glacier areas, high altitudes you need to be 100% physically & mentally fit, Blood pressure are always checked ✅️ he told me the best way to survive was to keep lots of pure chocolate, jn high altitude every thing become very difficult, fear of Enemies, hypothermia, less oxygen etc etc... here why you should always respect any army personal he added,,

🟧⬜🟩 I lived in Ladakh for 2 years and recently moved to delhi in feb-2024. i closely worked with the Indian Army and the Air Force; and when i visited Siachen Basecamp last year, i talked with one of the Siachen Commando. He shared his daily routine in the bone-chilling cold as well as most-hard training schedule in low-level oxygen of about 10%, where he and soldiers like him cannot even think about seeing their families for months. He was in tears while sharing his struggles. watching this fantastic documentary, i remembered his words- "Our sacrifices today pave the path for a better tomorrow. We are the guardians of freedom, and we will not falter in our mission." Hats-off to the Indian Air Force, Siachen Warriors, Glacier Pilots, and soldiers like him. Good job, team Nat Geo! Jai Hind. 🦾🤘✌
