The Hatfields and the McCoys fought on different sides during the Civil War. When the war ended, tensions between the two families continued. A drunken brawl results in the death of a Hatfield at the hands of three McCoy boys. Although the McCoys are turned over to the local magistrate, the Hatfields take the law into their own hands and kill the boys. This begins an all-out bloody feud between the two families. Amidst the bloodshed, two lovers from the families try to build a relationship. The fighting ends when the heads of each family meet in the woods and ultimately decide to walk away peacefully.

Those of you who are descendants of both the Hatfield's and the McCoys you would think there would be a conflict with being descendants of both families

This is a historic moment I really learn a lot about the Hatfield McCoy feud

I’m related to the Hatfields from my grandfather’s side of the family.

Please note that the program takes certain creative liberties. I mean for example, Paris Mccoy didn't die in the feud and Cap Hatfield was quite different than how he was portrayed on the show.
But overall it's a good summary of the facts.

From what I have been able to read, The Battle of Grapevine, so to speak, was a skirmish in which surprisingly no one died. The Hatfields were quickly outflanked and a portion of them captured.
Nothing to do with what the series shows.

.Kevin Costner mini-series is not completely true. He made devil anise look like some kind of hero. He was not he was a very mean and vindictive, and Randall was made to look like a fool. Randall lost most of his family and still tried to use the law. You may want to do some real research before you, comet on the dead we owe them that. You're taking a tv move as truth.

idk, I'd say both men looked like "heroes" and "fools" at times

I did research before the movie even aired, it's about as accurate as it can be but it's still a movie. but the documentaries usually aint much different. there will always be someone that disagrees with something.

Ever since I graduated high school in 2012 with a few good Mexican friends and a couple of female school friends that were a grand ahead of us,
We were hanging out for a day outside of school and my grandma grandpa come got me and bought my friends to our home where we had food as our celebration and then we together all sat in the living room watching some TV and we selected the history channel and my god back in 2013 it was such a most beloving moment I ever had In my life and still remember it to this day!
We were all watching this Hatfield's and McCoys show right after I graduated high school as was so shocked frienghtend and broken when we and I saw this!
I will never forget that moment time I had on my school year 2012 as things like this still happens!

1:16 It's interesting and cute how Cotton Top put away the bunny. And incredible and heartbreaking how he ends...

This is the performance that made me appreciate Kevin Costner as an actor, as before this, I didn't really think much of him.
One really sad thing about this film is how the Hatfields let their mentally challenged relative, Cotton Top, Devil Anse nephew be the fall guy.
