- A song about a jewish girl, fallen in love with a christian clerk ("Schreiber"), who expects her to convert to be christian for to become her wife. She agrees, but he does not want her in the end, being ashamed of her jewish background, so that she leaves him and her family forever. Collected 8- 12- 1937 from "Molters Peter" Gangloff-Hambach in Hambach / Lorraine. He learned it from "the old girls" of whom he said then "they would be 100 years old, if still alive".
I love it!
Sehr Gut :)
