  • Chris Berman and Tom Jackson host NFL Primetime for 2006 NFL Divisional Playoff Sunday, featuring the New England Patriots outlasting the San Diego Chargers 24-21, as well as the Chicago Bears squeaking by the Seattle Seahawks in overtime 27-24.
In the final game of the divisional playoffs, the New England Patriots faced the San Diego Chargers, who were unbeaten at home in the regular season. The Chargers' roster included league MVP running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who broke several league records, nine Pro Bowlers, and five All-Pro players. However, four Chargers turnovers, three of which were converted into Patriots scoring drives, helped lead to a Chargers loss. San Diego lost despite outgaining the Patriots in rushing yards, 148-51 and total yards, 352-327, while also intercepting three passes from Tom Brady.
Robbie Gould's 49-yard field goal in overtime propelled the Bears over the Seahawks and to their first NFC Championship Game since the 1988 season. This was also their first playoff win since 1995.
**Up until recently, I've been downloading my personal VHS collection. However, the collection is obviously limited. I started a Patreon page to better find and purchase old VHS videos on EBAY and other websites, as well as at garage sales and other locations that might have VHS available, so I can upload them for all to see and share for free. To put some perspective on how good the 14-2 Chargers were- those 2 losses were each by 3 points on the road at playoff teams Baltimore and Kansas City.

The nfl and the media have forgotten what makes this game exciting and great. I get more amped up by this 14 year old broadcast where I know the outcome than I do with anything produced today. In fact, they've fallen apart across the board. It just sucks. It used be about the product, now it's about the narrative.

One of the greatest Patriots games of all time. For some reason I thought the Patriots were down a lot more than they actually were, but I did not feel like the Patriots were going to win during that entire game. The Troy Brown strip for the fumble is one of the most clutch plays in Pats history.
The press conference with LT was the best. LT actually stated the Pats are classless organization.. I guess he had selective amnesia. LT forgot that the week leading up to the game his team was talking MAD TRASH about the Patriots being old, it was the Chargers time, blah blah. I was so happy the Patriots did the Shawne Merriman dance in the middle of the field and stuck it to their classless players. Anyway, LT did apologize for his comments several months later and him and Belichick got along after that. Also, how come the full game always seems to be taken down by TH-cam? Would love to go back and watch the whole thing.

Dude Brady best throw of the game should of been a TD. Caldwell with no one around him. Running in a straight line. Somehow steps right out of bounds. Literally a ghost pushed him. Chargers actually got the breaks this game. And refused to do anything with them.
Remember that muff punt the Chargers committed? Lol Patriots started on the TWO YARD LINE that drive. You had great field position with an 8 point lead. What do you do with it? Literally muff it.
