Used to work at a reel repair shop- those reels were sought after by fisherman even into the early 2000s. Then low profiles really took off with wiffle spools and such. The big difference when those bantams came out is that the worm gear was not driven by the spool. The round reels (ambassadors) when you cast you notice the line guide goes back and forth- it’s a lot more drag when casting. A lot of west coast bass fisherman and steelhead fisherman loved those old bantams. Still a very good reel- just sounds dry!
The 200 was the right handed model while the 201 was the left handed version. The non-handle side was plastic. My first level wind and they were great!

That's some great history! I appreciate you sharing that.

Always dug the Shimano Bantam casters.... Classic as it gets
Sweet find! Your videos are ALWAYS killer. Thank you for what you do to help anglers like me and my friends.
I'm glad you enjoy them! Thanks for watching!
My Bantam goes with me every time. great reel, lucky too.
that's awesome!
@@TylerBrinks I'm pretty sure its caught more fish than would fit in my boat if they were all here now.

My grandfather passed awat recently and had a huge collection, i received some reels like that, that are still brand new out of the box
sorry about your loss, enjoy those reels!
Checked out your short and cool to see the rod . Definitely would be great paired up with a spinnerbait. Go O.G.with a double Colorado 😊
I think a double Colorado would be perfect!
ALL YOU NEED IS SOME DAWN AND A SCRUBBER SPONGE-IT'LL CLEAN UP NICE!!!
that's the plan!
they don't backlash.... the fisherman makes it do that !!
