    Sorry about the auto-focus!
    Also, I forgot to mention phantom power - on the "Level" adjustment for each channel, there is a toggle on the screen to turn phantom on/off for your mic, should you require it

    GREAT in-depth review of many features and how to use them. You explained everything so that it was very easy to follow and understand. I have been using my RODECaster for about a month now and this gave me the confidence to dig a little deeper to play with some more settings and really push the unit and use more of the features. Just B R I L L I A N T - Thank you "RODE" & Thank You, good sir, for producing this awesome review of this fantastic RØDECaster Pro. The new Beta 2.1 firmware update is going to make a HUGE improvement on all my projects & productions. Agreed, I love the Rodecaster Pro and what it does for my Live-Streams. I am a solo operator currently producing & hosting 6 weekly shows (3 on Facebook & 3 on TH-cam). The RØDECaster Pro has been a reliable workhorse, easy to navigate and continues to impress. I am keeping a keen ear & watching the progress of this Beta version before I chose to update. Once again Thank you for this review. Cheers iSpike (New King Of Live Streaming)

      I've had luck running one of the headphone outs into a Rode Wireless GO transmitter and then the receiver in the camera with excellent results just to eliminate the post sync. Just make sure that the headphone volume isn't so loud. Most video editing software makes it super easy to auto-sync the video and audio as long as you have reference audio from the DSLR video file.

    Hi there! I really enjoyed this video , it was so informative. i just wanted to ask about the part where you used the adapter to record the backup sound on your iPhone 29:17 , does that method also works when recording a video on the iPhone, meaning can you use the same methods while recording a video on the iPhone but with sound coming from the Rodecaster pro? P.S I plan on buying the Rodcaaster so I'm just doing some research before actually buying it. Your response would be highly appreciated.

    • @thepodcastmasters
      @thepodcastmasters  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tested this exact setup, but normally if you plug a mic or sound source into the iPhone while filming, it does switch over to capture from this new sound source instead of the built-in mic. my guess is that it would work!

    Question... What does the 'Ducking' setting on Channel 1 do? Don't remember if you mentioned it or not...

    • @thepodcastmasters
      @thepodcastmasters  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is specifically for channel 1, to duck the rest of the channels - imagine you are the host of the show on channel 1 and want to make sure your voice cuts through above the rest. It's misleading, as I assumed it would be ducking for all mic inputs against the aux/BT channels, but alas

    Great video. But if I’m recording in stereo, all the multichannel stuff doesn’t apply correct? And this is all if I’m wanting to correct anything in post? I should just have one file when uploading from the microSD

    • @thepodcastmasters
      @thepodcastmasters  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The RCP will always record a stereo file for you - then if you choose it will record a multitrack version of the recording as well. It packages everything up in one file. You can export it using the RCP companion app, or, just drag and drop into a DAW such as Logic and the software will split the file up into each 14 separate tracks

    WE have the Rodecastser with 2.1.0 firmware. TO record Multitrack, (we usually record to sd card) should SD Card be ON, USB on or off (we have part of recording coming from another location through computer and usb port), then Bypass Audio Processing ON or OFF, and Post Fader On or OFF? What woul dbe the settings? Thanks - nice video

    • @thepodcastmasters
      @thepodcastmasters  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're recording to SD, that should be set to Multitrack. If you're bringing in an audio source via USB, you can still set the USB setting to multitrack, as that only affects the recording via the USB connection (output). Bypass audio processing, I recommend this is always turned on, as a safety measure

    Thank you so much for the excellent video!! Question please. I'm able to use my Samsung Android phone to do backup recording from the Rodecaster to the phone using the supplied USB cable (plus adapter), however the sound pad jingles are not being recorded onto the phone. Only the microphone voices are getting recorded to the phone audio app, but none of the sound pad audio such as the intro music, laughter, etc. The same thing happens when I do backup recording with my Tascam DR-05x recorder (none of the sound pads are being recorded). I do have the latest firmware 2.1 installed as of today 9/16. Do I need to change the menu settings somewhere on the Rodecaster?

      It will need to record into some sort of software - if not a phone/tablet, then a DAW on your computer

    Just to save anyone the headache that I went through. As of August 2020 there is no longer a firmware update file that comes packaged with the companion app when you download the software. Don't go through the absolute frantic rage that I did trying to figure out where RODE installed the firmware update application because there isn't one. With the latest update it scans for updates through the companion app and just the companion app (According to RODE Customer service who I spoke with over the phone)

      @thepodcastmasters  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, sorry, we'll have to record an updated video for this - there is now ONE download app from RODE which contains the companion software and the firmware update together. thanks!

      Sorry, I don't think you can sync to multiple BT devices at once. Also, there is no Bluetooth output, it's only an input

    So I just got mine, and I was testing it out with the front headphone jack and 1 mic. All the readings and levels seem fine and the recording was great. But for the life of me I can't get audio out of the front 3.5mm jack. I haven't tried it via the 4 headphone jacks on the back yet, but it's odd to me that I can't get anything out of the front one. Any tips?

    • @thepodcastmasters

      That front headphone jack is controlled by the Headphone 1 volume knob :)

    I just unboxed my rodecaster pro. I have 2 questions. Can I connect my iphone via a trrs to lighning connector? do you know where I can find that cable?
    Also, I've seen others take the included usb-c to Usb cable and add a Lightning to USB Camera connector to connect to an iphone.
    Can I just buy from Apple their USB-c to lightning cable and eliminate the need for a Camera connector?
    ( I want to use my iphone to make a backup copy of the recording)

    • @thepodcastmasters
      @thepodcastmasters  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Randy, great idea, I use that same setup to run a backup all the time, using Voice Memos on the iPhone.
      The exact cable you want is this one: amzn.to/2YWvlK7
      It will be connected via the RCP's USB cable, and will record as a stereo output (not multitrack). Good luck!

    Thanks for the info. I have a pr40 connected to channel 1 and still have a tinny sound with Aural Exciter turned off. Do you know how else to address this, please?

    • @thepodcastmasters
      @thepodcastmasters  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are running the newest firmware you also have options for a de-esser - I would play with that. If it's still giving you trouble, the PR40 may not be a good fit your voice. Try an SM7B. Also, you may need a preamp for your mic - try the Cloudlifter

    Why do your meters start jumping when you turn up faders 1-4, even though there is nothing being fed into those lines? Does this mean bad pre's??

    Been recording a few episodes with the rodecaster pro on Logic Pro x. Do I really need a stereo mix track? Because when we plug in the phone to play TH-cam clips I would need to cut the commercial sound. But still shows up on the stereo mix.

    • @thepodcastmasters
      @thepodcastmasters  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      the stereo mix gives you everything, the multitrack mix gives you separated tracks (pre-fader). you can remove that in post if you record multitrack

      Do you mean mic feedback? If you have the mic and headphones to close to one another you’ll get feedback. That’s probably what the noise is

      Some audio players can’t easily play back the polywav. Once you record, you’ll need to drop these into a DAW in order to mix it
      RODE put out a new update today and I believe it adds an MP3 to the recording files. I haven’t checked yet
