Mr. Brown's dialogue did amount to over 350,000 words, though.
Having low encyclopedia is a ride. When I visited the bookstore, my character didn't know what books were, and I had a funny internal argument where he embarrassingly pretended to know what books were.
I'm not sure if he's going to experience this in his playthrough but having extremely high encyclopedia is also entertaining. Your brain starts giving you tons of useless information when you're trying to focus on important stuff lol
I was so relieved when you saw the title screen for what it was. I've seen several people think that they just straight up died and immediately reloaded a save. Probably helped that you actually died not long before, so you saw it was different.
When i first read the postcard I did it when Kim was away and Harry straight up died. Game over screen and everything. I hadn't saved in like 35 minutes, could have been worse but could have been alot better too
Playing alongside you so I can watch your playthrough. Absolutely loving this game so far for so many reasons! I love that they went to the effort of not only giving every clothing a stat modifier, but giving a brief reason *why* it changes said stat. So many aspects of this game have such exquisite detail, and it really shows that not only are they talented as hell, but passionate about what they made!
This is not a backseat gaming interject, but just a recommendation: Shivers is an incredible skill and has some of the best writing and moments in the game. If you have ever been walking down a city street at night, and you become aware of the mass of life, people and energy all around you, all the lights in the windows and how they represent different stories being acted behind closed doors, then you have experienced Shivers.
I'm in love with how much thought and analysis you're putting into everything! You are going to love this game and find so many cool details One bit of advice - saving up your skill points is usually a good idea. Putting a point into a skill unlocks all associated White checks, and *there's a cap* on how many levels you can have in each, so you get more chances at rolls if you dont level up until after you've tried and failed at something.
I also prefer numbered video series, but a title with a high episode number intimidates new viewers, which can really hurt a growing channel. Simply titling a video relevant to the content involved helps people who are actively looking for a particular moment. If they can't easily find what they're looking for, they won't watch at all and will potentially miss out on a content creator they'd otherwise like. I think the most painless solution in this case is to create and regularly update a playlist, which is what Mapo has done here. There are even episode numbers in the thumbnail, though admittedly they may be hard to see on certain devices.
Kim is available to talk to at all times (when he's following you), and based on how you play it might be interesting for you to have a chat with him every now and then.
Just so you're aware sometimes doing more dialogue options can make checks easier instead of going straight for them or on the other hand it can actually make them worse some things are better not asked 😁
Just FYI you must have disabled the tutorials prompts because one of the first things it says you can do after meeting him is by clicking on Kim you can talk to him about various stuff. I only bring it up because the actual case introduction is one of those things and it’s really just basic beginning stuff that works a lot better hearing at the start of the game as opposed to several hours in.
Its insane crazy how different some of the sequences you got and some I completely never got and I got others you didn't up till now.. this game is incredible its a testament to creative art and skill and passion. I need to play through it again.

Hey I have been with you and your whole adventure of HL/Portal saga and I loved it, thank you. Im not sure where can I suggest some new game, but I would love to see you play Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines (1). Its a RPG that actually uses Source aswell. The fun fact it was suppose to be first game to use Source engine but Valve said they can release the game only after Half Life 2 because of the new engine. And ofcourse those games released together and VtM was overshadow by succes of HL2. That and also VtM was very buggy, but community loved it and repaired it as much as possible with fan patches (which u should play with really).
Don't level up immediately you never now when you might need to put a point into a specific skill, also its generally a good idea to go through the dialogue options before doing a skill check they might give you modifiers . you don't have to jump on them immediately.
Hi Mapo, if you want more lore dumping you can try adding up your shivers skill if you can also has anyone passed the check on 1:05:26 ? I always fail that
That is not a dice roll.. you can just calculate how many points you need to succeed the check. He has four and missed by seven, so you would need eleven points in Encyclopedia.
I think your one fascist point in the Officer Profile comes from 36:57 when you said "I get it -- someone has to be the unpopular guy." to the racist lorry driver. I think that option is meant to be read as "I agree with you and consider you brave for speaking the truth." Or am I misreading that as well?
To me that felt like a dig at the lorry driver, just stated that someone (him) had to be the unpopular guy. But this is the funny thing about how text is written, there is room for subtext and we all interpret things differently. Where some may see sarcasm others may read it with 100% seriousness. But the dialogue and choices are really well communicated I think which is great

Really enjoying this playthrough! This is possibly my favorite game (and thing) in the entire world, and I remember everything too well to do ANOTHER playthrough by myself, but I enjoy watching your take on it.
I think it's so telling, in the play throughs I've seen, that most poc players IMMEDIATELY know what that Welcome to Revachol thing is about, while I haven't seen a single white player catch up on it. Really makes you think.

i dont know if anyone mentioned it before (if so, apologizes) but you can higher up your chance of success with checks by simply selecting other dialogue options. It allows you to gain modifiers for the related white checks so you dont always necessarily need to waste your skill points. In a way for example, consider it like building an empathy by conversation with a lorry driver to higher up your empathy skill check possibility. great playthrough tho, loving it. (sorry about my grammer, its not my native.)

Some things are just better left forgotten, and I can't see Harry having a good end as long as he can remember... _Her._ You need to discard the note, avoid reading the book about the Innocences, and not examine the stained glass window in the church. Do those things and Harry can sleep peacefully.

I got bloodlines and disco elysium both on a summer sale at the same time.
Needless to say it was an incredible month for me.

why did he redo the dialogue twice and both times didn't do the first 2 options and went straight to the white check? We will never know
