    Everybody. THIS IS HOW YOU DO A REVIEW! Most reviews on TH-cam are from completely clueless people who haven’t even tried the bag out in anything more than their back garden or a kiddy trail. Appreciate this video a lot man. Bag is right up my street. Thanks for making it known to me. All best from Scotland

    Great video. You actually talk about the things people want to know with this quilt, like side sleeping on the opposite side etc.

    I love mine, not sure why more people don't use it. I have taken it down to the 20s with either an xtherm max or a neoair xlite. I would definitely say the comfort rating is correct, below 23 is pushing it for this bag. Hood sinching isn't perfect but I agree, if you had the proper clothing, you won't be cold. Weight isn't the worst. I still use it for all my cold treks out here in CA.

      I think it comes down to the weight, fixed sleeping position and fiddle factor. The Cloud's design is overall quite simple and has no zipper, yet still manages to weigh about the same as a normal sleeping bag. You still have to battle drafts similar with a quilt, so you don't get any of the actual pros when decding between a quilt (weight) and a sleeping bag (no drafts). The foot draft makes no sense to me, because that's the last place I want to vent in these temperatures and toes are usually pretty hard to keep warm. All that overlapping fabric adds weight.

    It’s actually quite nice. It’s not for me as I love my Bandit, the draft collar and having my head fully outside.
    With regard to the sleeping orientation, they’ve done their research, I’m impressed. I read an medical article a few years ago and apparently when you sleep on your right side your blocking something important. My memory betrays me as to exactly what but it was enough for me to have very rare done it since. If you move around a lot in your sleep it’s not a problem.

      lying on your left side lets gravity push waste through the colon system apparently this is better for us as the body is not symetrical internally!

      I have this bag and I just "rotate" from the left facing to my stomach and then to the right facing which keeps the "quilt" tucked in. Love this bag, was just in it this weekend in Grayson Highlands VA.

    I had the Cloud (large) but had to send it back. I’m 6’2” and 285 and it was just too small. Just FYI if you’re a larger guy.

    This is just a hybrid of their backcountry bed and a mummy. I much prefer the former, but they only make it in 700fill and a little heavier materials. If they could put in better down and these lighter fabrics, I would buy one in a heartbeat, in fact prob two or three. I have the original b-bed and the revised one. As well as the duo version for when im with the gf. They are hands down my favorite way to sleep while backpacking, a quilt comes close but its night and day compared to horrible mummies which i refuse to ever use again unless its just bonkers cold which I rarely ever experience. But when on more weight conscious hikes, I sadly have to swap to one of my quilts, which are great for warmer weather, but as it gets cooler are more draft prone obviously.

    Great review, thanks! I already own the women's Cloud 800 20-degree, but I have been using it with a rectangular 72x20 pad. I'm looking to upgrade to a mummy-shaped Thermarest instead, and the customer service folks at Sierra Designs recommended against using a curved pad since the bag was designed for rectangular. But I notice that you're using a curved pad! Have you had any issues with things moving around? Is your Thermarest the 20-inch version? Thanks. :)

    • @crocodile235
      @crocodile235 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think it would, the sleeve seems designed for a 20-inch pad. There is a little wiggle room depending on how thick the pad is of course, but I doubt there's that much wiggle room.
