    When I quit my job in 2022 due to the harassment, and having bad relationship with my former employer. I had to find ways to make an income after that.
    I used my savings to buy bonds, found a part time job, use my carpentry skills to make and sell furniture, make and sell electronic devices, do e-commerce, do IT work for businesses, do TH-cam, and do anything to make additional income.

    I have been laid off twice and spent 8-12 months to get a good job again in Mech Engineering. The new salaries they offered were way lower. I think we reached a point which the effort to find jobs is as high as looking for clients being an entrepreneur.

      It is just a beginning, next decade they will replace the majority of workers with AI and robots, not in the USA only but all over the world. Imagine what regular people will do to survive, we are going to have a century of dark times.

    This is why i don't believe in a man being a sole provider. A few things are inevitable in America. You will be laid off, suspended, fired, have your hours cut, they'll be a recession, pandemic, or sickness of some kind. Thus its better when the economy is good to save and budget like your life depends on it. This is due to the fact it might take 6 months to a year or two to get back on your feet. Furthermore, i forgot to add this point. Your job can demote you or cut your salary. This my friends is why i don't support a man paying all the bills. In America you're one paycheck away from being homeless.

      So you want your woman to help you , but I bet you would throw a fit if she ask you to do the dishes . If a man is not willing to help around the house / contribute with chores, then he has to fully provide . Women are catching up and the days of men donating sperm , half of the bills and getting a working wife, maid , intimate partner and mother to his kids in exchange are coming to an end. Stop trying to live on easy mode and overburdening women

      Of course! Women fought for equality. The right to careers, jobs, loans, checking accounts, open business. They aren't treated as 2nd class citizens in the U.S. Furthermore, i would expect an able bodied man to be able to clean, wash, iron, and cook. Its not rocket science. Lastly, marriage is actually declining and most men don't want to be married.

      It's hard to juggle both at once, but if you have a job you dislike or the writing is on the wall that there will be layoffs, then you should spend time on the weekend and at night applying. Now, if you've been laid off, and you have the free time, one needs to spend that extra time during the day applying.

    If they/the company told you that they shifted priorities, you dodged a bullet, trust me, they most likely would have laid you off, specially if budgets changed and shifted. Now, getting laid off and getting some sort of severance is always good.

    Yeah same. 5 months now, still no jobs, applied for jobs half my normal pay rate and nothing. Just crazy. The worst is when I was told I had a job after the interview, got an email saying such and saying that I'd have onboarding paperwork sent The next day and the day comes around nothing wrote them. They said that their HR guy was out on PTO and they would send it when he gets back. Week goes by nothing. I contact them on the next Friday. They say he's still out and to call back next week. Next week comes he's still out. This goes on for over 2 months and then they just ghosted me. Another job I was. I went through the gauntlet interview so you know I had the five interviews total and was basically told I had the job by the last person who interviewed me. Then again by the person who recruited me and that they're just waiting for my start date and then the company just disappeared. Another time I interviewed and then they said that the position was no longer available after I had already gone through the entire deal and filled out paperwork to start onboarding and so for 5 months I've had about three false positives and absolutely no progress in the job market. I'm back to where I started and I'm running out of unemployment next month.

      Wow, that is about the worst I have heard. This whole ridiuculous 5 rounds of interviews is such garbage. You should be the FIRST person interviewed if LaborGains tries one or two interview videos (see my suggestion above). Because that is crazy, just unbelievable that they put people through that.

    Can we all address a few elephants in the room. This is why I urge people don't have kids you can't afford or more than 2. The jobs created are low paying minimum wage jobs. Avoid student loans like herpes. No matter the degree a job isn't guaranteed. Do you know whats worse than being unemployed? Being unemployed with a useless degree couopled with student loans. Furthermore, most degrees colleges offer are oversaturated, leave students in debt, unemployed, and underemployment. I will also add don't be content in one field. Be ready to pivot. For instance if your white collar have a blue collar job or trade + certificate incase you need to pivot when the economy tanks.Lastly, being single in the united states is a luxury, liability, and a curse. Its better to have two incomes than 1.

    I was laid off earlier this month. Software Dev. Somewhat similar to your story in that I was working for a consulting agency that didnt get any new contracts. Ive had a few interviews but nothing else. This is the worst market ive looked for job in since 2008. Companies are using return to office as a way to get ppl to leave on their own and keep the ones they feel are going to be obedient and compliant employees. I have also interviewed for a position posted as the title and pay of a senior engineer, but the duties of a principal architect.
    I considered going to a trade(electrician) a few years back when I felt completely burned out and jaded with Tech. But that is a 12-18 year training path and im already in my late 30s. I will keep applying to tech jobs. I am willing to take a slight pay cut, but not 30%+ for the same type of work. Return to office? Why do I need to buy a car to protect your commercial real estate investments?

    HR putting out job listings and having multiple interviews, but seeing the same listings for months seems like a waste of time for the company, let alone the applicants. Is this a form of job security for HR, keeping themselves busy?

    • @LaborGains
      @LaborGains  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's gotta be job security for HR. I also believe these companies get some kind of break or incentive to "hire" people so even going through the motions makes it seem like they are creating jobs which makes the government happy.
