      Does your approach change in a double flex .5 per league? Are you prioritizing Rb's vs WR's in those slots?

    • @jasonschrank7012
      @jasonschrank7012 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ron, love the content. I'm in a 12 team (4 max) keeper league that made an offseason switch to superflex. I have the 1.01, and keepers of kupp (2nd), waller (6th) lawrence (10).
      Should I take Henry or Cook at 1.01 and hope to get carr/cousins at the 3.01, or take Murray at 1.01 and then someone like a Montgomery, Etienne, dillon or jacobs at 3.01?

    This method has won me many leagues for years. There’s nothing better than having anchor RBS on your teams and looking for breakout receivers in the later rounds. Much easier to find an elite receiver than an elite rb in the late game.

    • @Kyles_Money
      @Kyles_Money 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I like Hero/Anchor RB the most.
      You can make the same argument about finding high output RBs late. We had multiple guys last year. Penny, Singletary, C patt, Fournette, Conner, E. Mitchel..
      Then the handcuffs who we know will get you 12-20 pts after their startrer went down. Chubba, D'ernest, Booker ect. You put these guys on teams that went WR and TE strong and you have monster.
      Both ways can work for sure.

    To me it's about how much the "talent" falls off in the running back position. It's a much steeper fall off for running back position than it is in wide receiver. So, if you can get two high ranked rbs, it completely makes sense. In my keeper league, the top rb scored 190 more points than the 10th rb. The top wr scored 140 more points than the 10th wr. 50 points which is about 3 points a game. Doesn't sound like a lot, but over 3wrs and 2rbs starting out adds up.

      in 2023 RB are going down left n right =/ dobbins and chubb ...
      this strategy works if ur RB doesnt get hurt because of scarce thin RB position
      but if ur RB gets hurt u are doomed.

      Agreed. It is a solid strategy but years ago we saw a lot of committee situations start to change some peoples' drafting strategy. I still draft RB, RB but we don't have as many true workhorses like we had way back when. When you have a WR like Cooper Kupp go crazy, especially in PPR leagues and a first round RB ends up being a bust, it causes more people to go WR in the first and/or second round. I'm glad that those guys take those WR's and sometimes QB's, etc. because it usually leaves decent RB's for my first two RB picks.

      Yep, have used this strat forever to great success. I love it when my league mates take WR/TE in R1/2. I typically take 2 RB, then load up with 3-4 WR and maybe TE if it feels like a good value. Take QB late (used to always get Stafford lol) then last rounds just load up on flyer RBs.

  • @gilr.7436
    @gilr.7436 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Quality stuff man. If I may put my 2 cents in, I feel it’s worth noting that over the past several years, 68% of the top 12 RB finishers drafted outside the top 25 overall were drafted in rds 3-8. I’m a double tap RB drafter myself, but I personally can’t ignore those critical rds when looking for potential league winning value at the RB position. Rds 9-12, the goldmine potential drops to around 14%.
    Keep up the good work!

    • @fsdafdsafdas
      @fsdafdsafdas 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, so you're saying 68% outside of round 1 & 2. With 14% of that in 9-12. So 54% of them found in the 60 picks of rounds 3-8 and 46% of them found in the 24 picks of rounds 1 & 2. With a made up estimate of 40% of the picks in those rounds being RB that would give you the same hit rate basically.
      But I think the key point to his video is also the floor of those picks in round 3-8 vs 1-2. Because your league winner might be a 5th round Jamaar Chase or Brandin Cooks or Mike Williams or Deebo Samuel ect ect next year.
      So with the same success rate for hits in top 12, but a much safer floor to still support a championship team that is carried by a breakout WR that seems to be where the double hero strat's advantage lays.

Then I took Herbert round 4 and Andrews round 5, hunt round 6, Damien Harris round 7, picked up Patterson off the waivers and elijah mitchell.Again depending on your scoring settings a top tier QB gives you consistently 25 to 30 pts (I need that). You can wait on a QB but I rather not. I don't do QB carousels during the season. I set and forget and free up a roster spot. Why have two qbs when defenses cant touch them? Which means they won't get hurt often. Also good qbs get rid of the ball quick and they don't try to extend plays. Needless to say I had a successful yr. Study for the backend of draft ladies and gents. You will have a hell of roster turnover after your first 6 picks. So hit late

This strategy smashed but was only viable at the 1/2 turn, if you can do this with CMC/JT plus a stud RB at the 2/3 turn aswell as having the 1/2 turn being useful there's room to grow. basic math from those legendary numbers state you should take a WR in round 1, then follow up with RB RB in 2 and 3. That would give you the most % chance to hit a legendary whilst still only drafting 2 RB's.

    Rbs in the 5-10 rds can provide great depth and maybe a diamond in the rough. 12 team 1/2 ppr 1 keeper. Keep Connor in the 10th or Jefferson at the 1-8 ?

    I took Henry, Jones and Connor(flex) in the first 4 rounds. Still got Evans, marquise brown, Mooney, Moore (all wr1 for their team) waddle and Pickens in the later rounds. The receivers are much deeper later in the draft than the RB.

  • @pirate135246

    Best ball data doesn’t account for the fact that rbs are some of the better available options on the waiver wire throughout the season. WR is not great on waivers so stacking elite wr early with 1 elite rb is better imo. More upside due to the way post draft acquisition workout

    • @fsdafdsafdas
      @fsdafdsafdas 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What league do you play in? RBs are impossible to find in redrafts.
      Unless you mean if you get lucky and find the 1 or rarely 2 studs that happen every year at random. Which is true, but finding next year's Mitchell and CPat means it doesn't matter what strategy you use because you've got the fantasy luck that year and will win (beyond just horrible management or injury luck)

    This strategy only works if you don’t have a middle round pick. Even then my strategy for a 10 team PPR this season is Wr Wr Wr/ Te Te/Wr QB/Rb then Rb from there and 1 Wr where I see fit. Can’t pass on cooper or Jefferson. All star 4 receivers essentially and then take handcuff rbs and late round lead backs. WRs less likely to be hurt I prefer this strategy that I crafted while studying for the season. Obviously you aren’t doing this with 1-2 picks MAYBE 3rd overall.

Just curious because i haven't done RB/RB in a decade and in brutally tough leagues I'm always in playoffs at least and have 3 wins over recent years playing 2 leagues a year. @abarkins 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I don’t do zero RB but last year in my biggest league I didn’t pick a RB until round 7 in a 3 WR league. Everyone was reaching for RBs so hard and I kept getting sniped a pick early before a massive tier drop off. I’m not picking Gaskin over Ceedee Lamb (my 4th best/Flex WR)…ect.
      I did pick up Mitchell before week 1 and used my waiver on Patterson and would’ve won if Bears D didn’t put up 30 in the Ship.
      I prefer to go RB early, but my main strategy is BPA. If my league is gonna overdraft in one direction, I’m getting value in the opposite.

    I like the idea of this strategy but I would say it is very risky to wait that long to take a 3rd or 4th RB. I say this because RB is usually a highly injury prone position due to the beatings they take every week. In this strategy, if you lose one of your top 2 dawgs its going to hurt your team pretty bad. Id prefer to get at least a 3rd RB with a lot of opportunity in their offense such as a breece hall or montgomery just so I can withstand an injury. I can always take shots on a WR later in a good position such as drake london to make up for it.
