    IMO, best thing is if you know your draft position ahead of time, as well as your league members. Know who drafts straight forward. i.e. won't take a backup with a starting slot open, won't take a 2nd qb til very late or not at all, and who drafts more creatively. Do alot of drafts in your position, so you see who commonly is available. Know who you like and have a good idea what rd/pick you'd likely be able to get them.

    I think the key is what you said at the 10 min mark let the draft come to you. Have several strategies in your basket and react to what value the draft gives you. My expectation is that the market in most drafts will give you more single and double hero RB opportunities than 0 rb opportunities. Also, the strategy may be a be dated, 5 years ago it was more likely to see a draft where people are overvaluing rbs and undervalueing top wrs.
    I'm sure the analytics are right, but the last 15 years wrs seem much easier to find on thecww than rbs. Usually no more than 1-2 any given week and top ww order determines who gets... or you spend a lit of your ww cap on early season end up broke playoff time

  • @beanie3427
    @beanie3427 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Last year I experimented with deploying a modified version of zero RB for shallower half ppr leagues, specifically the standard yahoo pro league format: 10 teams 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 Flex. My basic theory was that if I shaved down the number of WRs in the first 9 rounds to 5, and more aggressively targeted QB and TE, then I could come away still doing okay. Also, I had a theory that the earlier I drafted, the better, so as to exploit the volatility that comes with running backs in training camp. I wasn't expecting to have a ton of success, but I was wrong. Its a small sample (just 10 different leagues), but overall it was a dominant strategy for me. I won in 3 leagues, had 2nd place finishes in 2, 3rd in 2, and made the playoffs in 8/10.
    I got very lucky with some of the decisions I made (I was very in on guys like Darrell Henderson pre-Akers injury and AJ Dillon, plus I bought in on Cordarrelle early in several of the leagues). So I'm not fully convinced of its dominance, yet. However, I'm damn sure running it back this year with 10 more leagues.

    I improved my record considerably after turning to zero RB draft strategy. I will admit I am the commissioner of my 12 team league and feel that requiring a starting TE is bogus. After the top 4 or so are gone, everyone else is screwed so why not level the playing field. I customized starting a QB, RB, WR, WR, WR/TE, flex, K, D. This option leaves the ability to draft a top TE if one chooses, and simply tosses TEs and WRS together to even playing field. Nobody gets stuck having to start a crap TE. It also allows more flexibility drafting since you only are required to start 1 RB. I also post the random draft order a couple weeks ahead of the draft so managers can mock draft and work out a strategy before hand, but this also means one's draft strategy can change in real time depending on what everyone else is doing. You like drafting to RBs to start, go for it. But what if you are drafting in 11 or 12 spot (where I like to draft) and all the top tier RBs are gone, maybe even the second tier is next to gone? Don't worry, change up on the fly and be the first or second team with the best duo of WRs in your league. In the third or fourth round draft the best remaining RB and you have covered your starting RB "dilemma." Not requiring two starting RBs relieves the pressure of must having two good RBs. I have drafted 3 WRs and an RB in the first 4 rounds for 4 seasons in a row (not counting last season because I drew the second pick last season and was essentially forced to go with an RB-Dalvin Cook-that was basically a bust at that spot and got Henderson in the 4th round. Never again. Season before I drafted Gurly 3, Ingram 5 and Hunt 6. My #2 Golladay was a bust. 2019 I went J Jones, Juju, Lockett and got A Jones in 4th round-and he had a monster season. Alas I had Lockett like 4 of 5 past seasons because he was finishing top 5 in my league on average (I also count return yardage for RBs and WRs), but after last season and moving forward the Seahawks are ugly. In 2018 I went A Brown, D Adams, and T Hill, taking high prospect R Freeman in the 4th who was shit. I won the championship in 2019. So talk to your league commissioners and bitch and moan for him to even out the field and customize the starting rosters to create more flexibility and improved parity in your league. I also go standard scoring but use the bonus points option to reward big plays and 100 yd performances. Also for the K position the scoring goes up every 10 yards starting at 3 for for under 20, 4 under 30, 5 under 40 and so on. Much better than PPR which I think is shit and rewards actual football plays for 40 or 50 more yards and 40 or 50 yard TDs. Catch a ball and go nowhere for a point or half, fuck that! Reward real football plays and yards.

      It awful to make te an option because you literally take away the advantage one gets by drafting a top 6 guy it’s a skill gap of when to draft a te to get best value and when you make it not necessary to use at all that means no back up tes are needed and you’ll just start a wr in the wr/te the week kelce kittle Waller Pitts hock goedert ertz there are plenty of te as well cole kemt Albert o with broncos you are dumbing down your league sad

    I have a question I was hoping to get your opinion on.
    I'm in a 10 team PPR, 1 QB, 2-WR, 2-RB, 2-Flex(Tr-Wr-RB) league. 6pt passing and 6 point rushing TD. We started as a keeper and are transitioning to full dynasty. The league voted to double keepers each year until we have a full team(2026 would be our 1st rookie draft). We currently have 4 keepers. My 2022 picks are 1.01, 1.02, 2.07. I have 2-23 1sts, and 2-23 2nds.
    My roster consists of the following.
    Hill, waddle, Higgins, DK, akers, etienne, kyler.
    The players who will be available at 1.01 are as follows.
    Debo, hall, Barkley, Gibson, kittle, kw3, london( and all the other rookie wrs).
    What strategy would you look to use in the draft, and who would you keep? I like the thought of zero RB, but it feels weird passing on hall and etienne.

    .I'm in a 10 team league
    We have 2 flexs 1 of the is r/,wr/t
    I draft at the 5 spot wich kinda sucks because I don't loop at in the snake.
    But I was thinking about going chase in the 1st rd. I've also gone jefferson.
    Now with Diggs sitting right there at 15. I'm kinda leaning that way.
    Here's where I'm kind of conflicted. Drafting chase is with the intentions of drafting burrow between the 4th and 6th rounds for that stack.
    Rd 3 #25 overall is where I'm always getting held up
    Because if a. Jones or Kamara is there. I want to go there.
    Or I've seen Barkley or fournette and Connor right there. But mainly Jones amd Kamara I feel I would be stupid not to snag.
    I have also gone josh Allen at #25 for that Diggs/Allen stack then hope for Pitts there in the 4th
    I've also ended up going Andrew's then Lamar
    But if Montgomery or Mitchell or Damien Harris or Etienne is there in the 5th. Isn't that ok value at the pick.
    I could even argue maybe Dillon in the 5th
    Saunders and Patterson n the 6th.
    Now I don't mean hammering them. But if there's a good value . In the 4rth or 5th round I like snagging 1.
    I do like your point of hammering rbs at the end I like Mosthert in Miami. And Pearce or the Algiers kid in Atlanta Pacheco in kc.
    When I'm watching all these videos I can't help but feel there would be a little difference in the do's and don't. It being I'm in a 10 team league. Thete is going to be 2 to 5 guys dropping down a round each round

    does zero RB work in a standard league? Im assuming the best idea to do this is if you have like the last pick in the first round and some elite WR drops to you?

    So I guess if you were to get the first overall pick, could you draft JT and then go 0RB strat the rest of the way? Or would that kind of ruin it?

    • @brother-In-Christ404
      @brother-In-Christ404 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I guess you did say you don't go into a draft already set on drafting a certain way, so yeah, I guess you would take JT. So then here's a question, what 1st round RBs would you rather take over the Big 3 WRs, and which ones would you pass on?

    • @matthewdennis1739
      @matthewdennis1739 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say that's the situation where you want to go Zero RB. You really shouldn't go into any draft saying X is going to be my draft strategy. What is available to you in those early rounds should dictate what strategy you use.
      If I can get CMC early in my draft I am not going to go Zero RB, but if all my league mates are hammering RB and the value at WR is much greater than the RBs on the board in the first few rounds that is when you should adopt a Zero RB strategy.

    So, is this not viable in ppr with a standard lineup (2xRB, 2xWR, 1flex)?
    I usually play the draft basically like best player available. I usually place top half and frequently top 3 in my league, but injuries to RB or WR usually hold me back.

    I'm too much of a pu$$y to follow thru with zero rb. I can only do hero rb. Hero rb is the most efficient strategy in my eyes. It's like zero without the extreme risk, but you just HAVE to hit on a late round WR.
