It makes me furious how fast they pepper her with questions and don’t allow us, the audience, to fully comprehend what she is talking about before going onto the next question

I'm right with her about pity. My best and oldest friend loves me like no one else, but I have not liked it when she pitied me. It was meant well, but it didn't feel good.

Can you try to put into words what you don't like about it? I mean, I totally get you ... but I myself find it really hard to put it into words.

So many people misuse words to the point that the word loses meaning. Such as her example of overwhelmed. Another one is devastated.

The differences is what make us special. Mapping all our emotions in common just breeds banality.

Is anyone else confused…did anything she said make sense? It’s like say something without saying anything. Jumbles my brain.

I think it is so strange, Americans are so religious and love all of this mental training and self help spiritual crap, but yet they are so messed up as a society. So maybe what people need is not spiritual or religious, but a new political system that is aimed at helping everyone and not just the rich? Just a thought….maybe free healthcare? Maybe learning a little from countries that have a political system that actually works?!

Interesting - I think Dr. Brown would say humans are inherently spiritual creatures and we have mistakenly tried to remove all aspects of spirituality from politics. Check out her interview with Russell Brand, that's where she explained what she means by "spiritual".

@@dreawearsshoes true, but underlying her work is spirituality, that’s why she hold talks in churches and why Oprah who have deep prejudice towards atheist’s love her and use her all the time to feed her own ego. Everything in America is about that, look at me, I’m special, god have chosen me(while the large part of the world lives on extreme poverty and horrible acts towards children and females happen all the time). Religion and spirituality is all hogwash…..

for the most part, americans are culturally religious but not substantively spiritual. the reverance for God i experience in other countries isn't the same here. when i came to the u.s., i noticed a profound shame culture in american christianity that keeps many ppl attending church to say they did and trying to earn their wings, but their lives show little more than ritual. even the christian right in many regards feels like the least compassionate demographic in the country.
