Yes, I have done a lot on them, and you get pretty much every body panel as aftermarket, mostly because the drivetrain will go on forever, but the body will rust off it. Air filter you will find older ones use an ADG799, which will fit the new ones, once you pull that plastic inner sleeve out. Same housing, just the plastic spacer to use the cheaper filter, last price I had, buying pretty much the entire GUD inventory every time, was R600 each. I was using them off the label, but they are a darn good filter, and if you are using the vehicle on farm roads the better filter, simply because it has a spinner to dump the dust mostly out, and enough area to not become clogged with 2kg of dust in it. Yes I was collecting dust with them and 2kg was not unusual for a day, even though I was also washing them out again, and leaving to dry for a few days in the sun. You could get up to 10 washings on them no problem, till you saw the sunlight coming through a hole, which made them scrap. Van itself is immaculate, he has either been ultra careful, or has a really good panel beater to handle the rust, because they all rust by the windscreen, and by the doors. Points you often get by with just cleaning and resetting gap, though you should also use a timing light to check the vacuum advance works properly, and you still can buy the capsule for it as well. Rotor needs to be cleaned, and lightly polished, along with inside the cap, and pull the leads off, and put a bit of silicone spray there to keep them from going green. No silicone inside the cap, spray only with Q20 or Tool in a Can, and wipe down, to prevent tracking. Did they stop giving that little capsule of white grease with the points now, even though I rarely used that, using white synthetic grease instead, just a thin smear on the cam surface

Thank you for showing us how to service my Nissan 1400 bakkie. I just noticed you did not check the timing after you put in the points. Any reason why?

Thank you for this detailed video! You're awesome. Hope we can ask more questions regarding the 1400 Nissan. Mine randomly started dying while driving. Do you know what the problem could be?
Make sure the points are set correctly, the condenser may be loose and not earthing correctly, or it could be faulty, replace it to make sure. check the spark plugs for any wetness on the tips, and check the plug wires for breaks or corrosion on the ends. Also, check the distributor cap for cracks, the worst-case scenario is that there may be no or low compression on one of the cylinders due to worn rings or leaking valves, do a compression test to check this.
All the best hope all goes well. They are great little bakkies, I had 3 in my day. Thank You for supporting my channel with your visit and interaction, I am pleased this video was helpful to you. This is the best video ever on how to service a Nissan 1400, I fitted new points and a condenser but I have a problem with the timing, when I use a timing light I see the dot keeps on jumping around, it doesn't stay on one marking it moves around from one marking to the other, could it be that the bakerlite in the distributor is worn out?
When this happens with the timing mark it could mean a worn distributor shaft bush, which means the points do not open the same on all 4 lobes of the distributor shaft, or it could be the lobes itself are worn unevenly to check it take off the cap and rotor, turn the motor so the points are opened on one of the lobes, just like you would do to set the point gap. Take the shaft and see if there is a side-to-side play that opens and closes the points without rotating the shaft, if so the center bush of the distributor shaft is worn, which is why the timing will not be constant. secondly, it could be the centrifugal weight springs under the base plate of the distributor that are either broken or missing this will also cause erratic timing as seen when the timing light is used.

It sounds more like a faulty condenser, or not tightened properly, so it is not getting good earth, it could also be the coil and/or plug wires, hell it could also be the rotor and cap too.
