  • Here I'm showing the parts and process for making your own Pool Fountain for about $10 with parts from the local hardware store. It is an EASY and quick project anyone can do. This will give a nice relaxing sound as well as provide some cooling for your pool on those hot summer swims.

i made my own by completely 3D printing it. i 3D printed a powerful water pump with a 775 motor, and combined these two and it works perfectly :D

Is there available a written list of all the pipe fittings and sizes you used? I tried writing them down but I don't think I was successful. Please help!!

TheTrueabundance I built two. After running both for two nights my pool went from bath water to nice and cool :) you will go through chlorine faster due to evaporation. I just add extra tablets :)

Do you have to glue it? The water is just going to drip into the pool if it leaks.

What exactly was purchased to hook into the return valve? I'd love a simple check list of items.

You didn’t need the 1-1/2 90°. The 1-1/2x3/4 threaded adapter was all you needed. 1-1/2x3/4 Adapter, threaded to glue up 3/4 90°, length of straight pipe, another glue to glue 90°, straight pipe with holes, end cap, and you’re done. Also, a good friction fit is usually enough to hold the pieces together and no glue is necessary. That way, you can adjust the angle and direction as needed. Just cut the pipe with a pipe cutter and force the parts together. Don’t sand them as you would for gluing.

Sam Guimbellot Have you do this? I’m thinking the pressure might blow this apart if not glued?

Carlton Clay, yeah. I used some 1.5x3/4 pvc adapters to circulate the water faster. It’s all friction fit together and no glue. I can turn the 90’s up and install pvc with holes drilled for a fountain. No glue on any of it.

Sam Guimbellot any concern with taking your return from 1 1/2” to 3/4? Pressure ?

Carlton Clay, no worries because the directional eyeball fittings are barely over 3/4 inch at the openings. All you’re basically doing is switching one 3/4 inch opening for another. And I also replaced my failing 1hp pump with a brand new 2hp. The only difference was my electric bill went down a few dollars. The pressure is still under 20psi, so I’m happy with that.

Sam Guimbellot Makes sense. I just did something real simple and winged it. photos.app.goo.gl/hfQHTNSN5cBAbYM67
      Here’s what I used from Lowe’s:
      350966 1 1/4” x 2 ft $3.10
      23772 1 1/4” 90 degree elbow $1.78
      50474 1 1/2” adaptor $2.68
      23898 1 1/4” cap $.86
Have some fun and create a Lowe’s account if you don’t have one and create an online order and to pick it up!
I didn’t use PVC cement, I don’t have any and don’t have any projects coming up, it would go to waste. Everything is just firmly in place, but it kept popping off until I made a bunch more holes. It’s just a noise maker until the water temperature improves.
