If you've ever heard my streams (or heard me talk about video games in general), you know I'm obsessed with lore (when it's good, of course) and theory making. So you can imagine that when a good game drops a bunch of lore, I'm all about it. Especially when there's amazing music playing. As someone with my own video game ideas and music writing experience, I just had to give that style a chance in my own way. Here's something I wrote a few years back and finally finished up (for now. If I choose to use it for something in the future, I will remake it). I hope you enjoy! This is "Song That Plays When the JRPG Character Drops a Bunch of Lore".

The best part about lore dumps is that I’m either genuinely interested or couldn’t care less and end up zoning out absorbing absolutely zero information
you either absorb everything or your on your phone mashing to skip

Deltarune: Intensively watching, headphones are on, and your door is shut just in case there is any distractions
Xenoblade: Mashes to say ok then realizes that you just restarted to whole cutscene again. Next thing you know cops are investigating the body right below your window

When Lord Scrumbus III tells you the tale of the Kingdom of Plorpbo and how you need to collect the seven Binguses of Power to defeat the evil Count Quorblup

Ah yes, I too remember the plot of Scrimblo Bimblo, the Lovable Scrunko
I loved it when Lord Scrumbus III told Scrimblo to find all the binguses, and then Scrimblo proceeded to find all the wrong artifacts. Comedy gold.
"Long ago, the ruler of this kingdom dropped their signed Columbo boxset down the back of their enchanted sofa, where it was destroyed; filled with rage, they tore the land asunder, trying to collect the Stones of Makgu'phynn to bring back what they had lost."
But a prophet foretold that one day the hero of legend would arise who would journey through the many lands on a quest to get a new copy and get it signed by Peter Falk. It was said this hero would be known because their hair was far more ridiculous than any others...
But one day, the hero was lost in time, for his bible hath fallen down the same couch. Now... the only man who can rise to stop him, is the man with the 10 foot blade! A man foretold thousands of years before the prophet foretold the rise of the ridiculous hair protagonist. The day the man rises up and takes his role, is the day the kingdom will return to it's true glory..!
At that moment the sky flashed bright with the spirits of the three guardians, revealing that his pp was in fact the 11 foot sword told to end the world, he is not happy about that so he starts crying and shitting until he passes out. A new man appears on the horizon, he is the legendary couch-master Geen Kok and he knows exactly what to do. Without hesitation grabs the 11 foot pp sword and swings it at full force, screaming about his wife or something
"Okay yeah cool story I need to go collect my 12 inch Subway sword now see you"
It's almost funny how accurate this is. But I won't laugh. Not while I'm listening to a JRPG lore dump.

The music: **Is a banger**
Me, trying to resist pressing skip on my 9th playthrough because the game doesn't have a music room and the only other time this music plays is near the end if you backtrack to the starting village and go to the dead rival's room: (╬ಠ益ಠ)
RIVAL-KUN DIES!? NOOOOOOOOo
Me: Spends week unpacking game just to find the music.

I will now proceed to explain the complex political relations with some other kingdom you'll never hear about again, detail the magic system's 34 elements, most of which you'll only use after 10s of hours of gameplay, the grammar of this country's 15 langages and the kingdom's pottery economics.

Those darn pottery economics come back in at least 10 side quests, so pay close attention. Nothing else is important for actual gameplay, though.
I need that pottery knowledge so I can make a profit and buy that overpowered weapon from the secret store I unlocked

You can really hear the lore in this one.
Loredumps are either extremely interesting or the most boring parts of games, and I love em for that. They’re some of the most easy to create but hard to master, and most subjective things in all of fiction and that’s cool
It's stuff like this that remind me why you are one of my biggest inspirations for composing music. I love your work so much...

It all began on that night. When the Horizon Shattering Demon Dyrask emerged from the great abyss. He annihilated several kingdoms in the blink of an eye, leading to 12 heroes of exceptional talent from across the world to unite against him. However, it was all for naught, the heroes failed and before long a full blown war started against Dyrask as he destroyed kingdom after kingdom, continent after continent. Then when it seemed all hope was lost, the sacrifice appeared.
Lady Zenatta used a spell known as “Erastar” that cost her life to cast in order to finally banish Dyrask into the great abyss once more. However, even though it has been 1000 years since the day Dyrask fell, I fear that something, horrible is about to happen.
The Tome of Truths states that this year 5 heroes will journey to the great abyss and slay the great Dyrask once and for all.
A Talented Soul, Who is willing to stop this calamity by whatever means necessary.
A Determined Warrior, out to avenge his ancestors and protect the world from ruin.
A Librarian (such as myself), who desires knowledge and tying up loose ends.
An Agile young girl, skilled in various forms of science and technology.
And the one with the amulet of time.
Every other tale in this book has come true soo far except this one.

I think it's 5/4 for the first 30 seconds, and at 0:31 it switches to 3/4. Then it switches again at 0:59 to 4/4 and stays 4/4 for the rest of the song. Maybe I'm just miscounting though.

BY FAR on of my favorite songs yet it has a bit of anime feeling to it (like most of your stuff) but also just Nostalgia in buckets! has a Oneiro castle vibe to is as well, i feel like they do well back to back.

recognized something, you used a small bit for ur "tips for music" video, good idea since you basically said that "dont scrap your ideas, you can polish them up and make em work"
When your Grandfather takes you up to his old observatory to tell you he's not your real grandfather, and actually, as an infant, you floated down from the clouds into his front yard from a shaft of light, and he unlocks that old chest that had the flavor text "you've always wondered what's in this" before you did the first quest and he takes out the sword that fell with you and hands it to you, and says "follow your destiny, boy..." then sits down to die
I think can actually here little hints of inspiration from the deltarune ost, or maybe I'm just going crazy
what plays in persona 5 when ryuji opens up about his past so he's not just seen as comedic relief

Wait... this comment section makes it sound like people actually like lore dumps... I've been trying to never just dump a bunch of lore in any of my writing, but this makes me reconsider...
Maybe an optional lore dump?
Like... a bard that travels through the land and whom you can meet and ask to tell you something about the places you go to, kinda like Kashiwa in BoTW, I guess, but going far deeper.
That could be a good compomise...
Well, if I ever do end up relaising the dream of making a video game, I'll try to keep this in mind.
(Also, sidenote... this music made me feel a lot of things. Good job.)
For me personally, it depends. In my opinion The Messenger did a good lore dump because it spread breadcrumbs through the whole game, where the dump was connecting a web instead of explaining politics for 10 hours

Like, you'd see them somewhere looking over a mountain range, and if you talk to them they'll tell you about the horrible dragon that used to terrorize the land and that he was rumored to have lived somewhere over in it, but even after he was defeated long ago, no one has ever actually found his hoard...
There's a bunch of lore in there, and also a hint that there could be treasure hidden somewhere around... Obviously, it'd be more detailed than that, but that's about what I thought it could be...

did you know gaming: if you play every second note of the final boss's phase 2 backwards, you get a slightly slowed/altered version of this song... No one ever notices because the phase 2 is moreso a cinematic where you have one action that starts phase 3.

He actually is planning on making a game called Project LUCA, and a lot of music he's made was made for it. You can find a playlist of every released song that was made for LUCA on the channel
