G2 was a completely sealed unit. The G3, brought back the idea of allowing the unit to be opened (ie. replace the battery). G5 DOES allow an app drawer if you go into the Settings.
g2 has the best notification light. I wish it was still on the back button.
can you compare the audio quality (headphones) between G3 and G5? The G3 had the 1watt Speaker with the Cirrus Logic AMP inside, I'm just wondering which sounds better.
dkimmortal I have both phones and g5 sounds WAY better. The sound is clearer, louder and you can even hear bass tones, which are nearly absent on the g3
i heard though its usb type c, transferring to and from a usb 3.0 is still slow(write speed)..? is that true? please do check this out thank you

the g-series just lost its identity with the G5. SMH I don't know who was in charge of this but I'm very disappointed in the outcome of the G5
making the software lighter and lighter over the years is making the phone less unique and basically having everyone the same experience. When I buy an LG I want a unique LG experience. If I buy a Samsung I want a unique Samsung Experience Etc. why is Google wanting everybody to have the same experience on their smartphone? What's the purpose of choosing another brand then? When the LG G3 first came out it had a ton of LG specific features that no other phones had. then they do that 5.0 update if you even want to call it an update and you lose about 3 or 4 LG G3 specific features. that's why today, I'm still on KitKat 4.4.2. It's blazing fast. In fact, I haven't seen anybody with a brand new flagship phone with any faster than the performance of this phone. but I guess boring vanilla is the in thing today
Do you want fast updates? Do you want your phone updated over the years? The interfaces like these (Touchwiz, Lg Ui etc.) only slow down the updates speed because, when Google release an update (for example Android marshmallow) the OEM have to update also their interface and the other stuff, and the ETA grow...That's why I always wanted that all the OEM's follow the example of the (ex) Motorola: a stock interface with only some app and features added. But, if you aren't interested of the updates, then, the OEM's customizations are for you!👍

thats what I did, since 2014 I had the G2 d802 and it was cool phone,fast and crazy good battery life with cloudyg3 rom. But I felt that I needed an upgrade and went with the aluminium 6P. Battery life almost like g2, amazing display, amazing camera, best speakers, sleek design I dont expect anything more from a phone. Go for the angler.
Arianit Xhemaili the only thing that makes me question if its worth the money is the fact that battery life is the same... I really wanted something that could last longe than my G2 (around 3.5h on stock rom)
I bought the 6p for 500€uro (520$ I think) and im in stock rom getting 4.5 to 5 hours SOT, using this phone is very good experience compared to G2. It totally worth the money I paid.
in my country the 64gb version sells for 600€, and i think its still a good price for what ur getting. 4.5/5h of SoT is definitely a big improvement over my G2's 3.5h :D
Arianit Xhemaili another thing is, if i buy it it will be only in 2 months, and in that time i think its wise to wait for leaked 2016 nexus specs and then if its worth it wait a litle bit more, dont u agree?

I love my LG G2... I have it 2 years and still amazes me... It has 2 GB ram and it runs 49 apps!!! can you believe it?? the only disadvantage is that it hasn't a removable battery... BUT that LED light on the back is awesome !! pure perfection... If something goes wrong with the phone i'll go to LG V10... Cause that's impovement.. G3 , G4 and G5 can suck it off from G2! but every fcking LG phone is way better than any Samsung and Iphone together....!

+Joseph Berwari LG V10 has horrible battery life though. You need to get an extended battery or swap batteries to make it through the day with moderate use.

Orion Lamothe Yes I do know. Underclocking, undervolting, using Greenify and Amplify with xposed. Using Naptime or doze settings editor. Using a custom kernel.
These are great if you have the time. But not everyone does, and you shouldn't have to do these things on a $700 phone.

CeeStyleDj Well, dependes on what you would consider fine. The G3 is nowhere near the G2 on battery life but could be enough for you, it's on par with many good phones. I confess I was spoiled by the G2, it's by far the best phone on battery life I ever owned and now I find it hard (well, impossible) to move to something that has less battery life. From the numbers I've seen (GSMArena tools), things like the Exynos S7 Edge are the only ones I would consider because this is a main feature for me. The G3 is an excellent phone though and costs peanuts nowadays. One of the best bargains out there!

You can't remove the battery of the G2... it's still the best after the G5 though.
how? The G3 has better specs than the G2. the chief or basically didn't change much at all and the G5 has a smaller screen and actually slightly less megahertz CPU. by the way you can remove the battery in the G3.

on the g4 you've a shitty leather back cover look in internet to see
good covers like the black and brown it's normal that all the people
that watch your videos think that the g5 is better for design cause for
all the other things the phone doesn't change a lot: the main camera is
the same front and back, good audio and display, the battery life is the
same on g4 marshmallow updated, the sensors are the same and i think
that the ui of g4 with q slide, dual window, app drower and black theme
for the settings and the status bar it's a little bit better.
Until you have a G5 in your hand and you try it out don't talk shit about it. It's an awesome phone. Get one, or don't look up reviews where you'll get jealous about not owning one.
I still have a G3 and it's still a really good phone, the camera is great and the screen is beautiful.
The only downside is battery life : (

+Elijah VanBuren what Android version are you on? Did you get good battery life when it was new. I've never updated the Android software and my phone will last all day. If I'm constantly on it I will get 5 hours out of it but if I use it occasionally I will get about 10. and I've had the phone for about 13 months now

G2 didn't have a removable back. At least not my AT&T version. Probably not upgrading to the G5 but not because it is not plastic, I find that laughable. So you want a phone that will crack or dent or has to be stuck inside a case and bye-bye to looks? Wish there were more phones being made like the Moto Force/Turbo 2... cool looking and made for real life. All phones will eventually slip out of anyone's hand or pocket.

I had lots of bad experience with LG in the past, I had some wine color phone back in the day one of the first touch phones, around the time of Iphone 1 or 2, it even didn't have android, it ran on symbian hahaha, anyway, sucked really bad, the touch was terrible you had to actually puch in the screen then I had the LG Cookie, same thing, it was garbage, I fell into the trap of Girls Generation apprenticing that phone, so I switched to Sony, I had the Xperia 8, then the sk17, both where really good. I decided to try LG again with the LG L70, and I didn't regret it, the phone was really good, snappy, smooth, the only problem I had with that phone was the internal storage and the horrible interface, switched to the XPerie E4 and was good 2, it was decent but I had the same issue, internal storage, and the fact that Kitkat didn't allowed to move stuff in the SD. So finally I got the LG G2, I wasn't expecting a lot from this phone, boy was I wrong, it is absolutely the best phone I ever owned, really fast, tons of space, beautiful screen, incredible camera for pictures AND video (60FPS) the battery life everything is just perfect with this phone.

You can't remove the battery on g2
you can on the Korean variant but not on any of the U.S. variants
+Dušan Popovski no, the G2 pro did have a removable back and am SD card slot but so did the Korean LG G2. The G2 Pro was basically the same phone as the Korean G2 but with a bigger screen and battery. the U.S. variants had a battery size that was in between the G2 Pro and Korean G2 (3,200 mah and 2,610 respectively) at 3,000 mah but with no removable back or SD card. basically LG made 3 different v phones and advertised them as the "same" phone.

g2 was and is the best here
no way. if you are going to compare all 4 phones, the G3 wins. I corrected issues the G2 have and increase speed memory and performance while still retaining the g-series feel. G4 really didn't gain anything in G5 loses screens not to mention 2300 megahertz quad core in the G5 vs 2500 megahertz quad core in the G3.
+CeeStyleDj sorry for the typos. also Laser Auto Focus is awesome. and 3GB ram for the g3. if you like the G2, then you should get a G3 and stick with it. Skip the G4 and G5 until they come out with the G6 if they do so.

G3 was trash because the phone got hot & LG cheaped out on the adhesive that held the screen down thus made the cheap adhesive easily dry & screen pop out.

+Ashley Coronado I haven't met one person who has a phone that's faster than my G3 to date. It's probably the messed-up 5.0 Android that made people's G3 slow. That's why I'm still on KitKat 4.4.2. it's not LG or the G3 that was ever laggy at any point. It was the fact that Google screwed up with the software update. If you can find a G3 that still on 4.4.2 you will have an amazingly fast phone
