as a huge RTS fan i'm also considering it, i just feel like i'm waaaay behind the curve here. my ideal would be a board/card game version to enjoy nowadays!

@@tomasbar1101 disagree vehemently. It's really fun to play. Just picked it up again after 5 years hiatus, and I had simply forgotten how fun it is to play. I absolutely suck now compared to what I used to, but I don't even mind because I'm having a good time.

Nice knowing we are all confused. Not just Kelazur, Nerchio, and Showtime.
Sure, it was proxy, but the key point is it was never scouted. Kelazhur was in Has's base all game and never saw it, thus never expected the game winning storms. Seems like an worthwhile thing to hide. If he found it and took it out at some point, he wins that one.

Has deserves the appreciation, doing crazy stuff like this requires a deep knowledge of the game.. :P I like that winter knows this :) There are many haters to what Has does, but in his own he is unique and he makes things happen where any other player is just like WHAT IS GOIN ON ?!
The bigger topic is that a guy like HAS could never play this way unless he uses the supreme OP race with all the tricks

There is no set way to play a race, you dont have to follow a certain way to play the game. Has proves this.

Storms have always been a totally over powered ridiculous aspect of Starcraft that everyone just accepts.. The storms is the cherry on the overkill sundae. If u got storms and immortals... chances are ur not gonna lose the engagement.

Cheese is considered something that is commonly defined as non-meta, but cheese has another "requirement". Its cheese if on paper the strategy "shouldn't" work.
Cheese should not be long-term oriented, close the game as soon as possible. Has definitely did not plan for a long term game as he allowed probes to die while it can be save very easily
@Tam le, I don't think that not long-term oriented is a very good definition of cheese. How do you differentiate a cheese from an early all in? Like I said before cheese is something that shouldn't work on paper. Cheese should be something that if you told your opponent before hand what you were going to do it would never work. If Serral told me that he was going to play late game macro against me then I'd lose, because the information that he'd play macro wouldn't be enough to give me an advantage. If Serral told me he was going to 1 base ravager rush, I'd still probably lose, because Serral is so much better than me that my mirco would fail. However, If Serral told me before we started that he was going to drone rush I'd win, because on paper when both sides are ready, drone rushing isn't viable. However, every now and then drone rushing can take a game off someone that it really shouldn't because they weren't ready for it.
You are the last one to cast this game but most enjoyable to watch. Love HAS game and loves your cast.
im sick of all the casters calling it cheese. this game can be played many different ways and THANK GOD Has does. its amazing and so fun to watch. i watch all of Has matches because its not the exact same boring shit time and time again.
Absolutely. I was watching this and thinking wow, this is actually a really fun series of SC2. Meanwhile over on SC1, this sort of thing is far more common and it makes the game very fun to watch.
cheese is not a demeaning term, it just means unconventional play. Has does bring out cheesy play, and yes, it is awesome.

It totally is a demeaning term, they use it all the time for some strategy they think aren't normal to the meta.
lat0us yeah id say cheese is like something that noobs would do to win easily or some kind of tactic that is almost broken and breaks a kind of gentlemans agreement on how the game is to be played. to me personally if its in the game its there to be used and any type of play is fair you just have to know how to counter it.

Probably one of the best sc2 games i've seen. Great play from both, highly entertaining, tons more than your average pro game. I feel sorry for Kelazhur, he did very well.

That DeepMind AI will have such a hard time beating a player like HAS because no amount of calculations can predict what HAS will do next
The Deep Mind AI does not calculate, it is a neural net based system. Yes number crunching is going on but it is not doing what the old school game engines in chess for example are doing in their games. DM's AI's actually attain a grasp of the game in a similar way as humans.

I'm glad Has is in the pro scene. We need a player like him to say "fuck your meta" and then do whatever the fuck he feels like, and somehow make it work. Has is chaotic evil in an arena full of lawful goods, and goddamn is it entertaining to watch.
The mass zealot strategy brings a tear to my eye. I was a pioneer of that back when I played.

Even by the definition of cheese being bandied about here, I'm not so sure the way Has played in the last game would count. Yes, he chose to make a stargate at some random location to up the surprise factor of the phoenixes when they first appeared. But I'm not so sure he would've been at a huge disadvantage had it been discovered.
No, what Has is doing transcends cheese. He has decided that the thing that makes Protoss unique is the flexibility that Protoss has with where units are built and how they move. And he has built a play style around exploiting that flexibility in a very dynamic way.
The person who posted the Sun Tzu quote about water has it right.

In the Americas, if you set up your connection to Brazil, you gonna notice that plenty, not to say most games, are cheeses of such we had here. They start in Silver 1, and it's so tiring to climb up the league, and so many different cheeses, that at the end, you figure out you need to master the game in the Silver League in order to counter or predict what's happening. For a new player trying it out, it's so stressful, intimidating and energy draining, that most stop trying it out and never leave the Silver/Gold League. It's interesting to see Winter surprised, and maybe this happens due the fact he's used to the higher leagues, and maybe, it doesn't happens often. When I watch his coachings in the Platinum and Diamond league, I can't believe how people in such leagues are playing, and just how they got such rank. This just indicates, obviously, that rank doesn't means anything at all, and what matters are the experiences, also the patience to grind up the league. Ps.: Since I have nothing interesting to do, and I keep watching the video and thinking to myself, I must say that if even Winter, with such experience, is unable to predict the game, and answer accordingly, imagine a new player, or a not-so-skilled player like me trying to get motivated by playing in the ranked, lol. This only shows that the game can be played in different ways, different ways that aren't been played in the championship, thus the difficulty to predict and fight against it. The shield batteries exploit, for example, the proxies and plenty of stuff that doesn't allow the game to take its apex, the apex that was supposed to reach. Unbalanced, broken? I don't dare to say such things due my lack of experience, but that it's not motivational for new players, that I must confirm.

This is how I play my Protoss, I build adepts as reapers, zealots as marines, and immortals as tanks, and get charge and upgrades and a-move. Terran main here. Warp prisms is what I wish all my Medivacs could be.

Has is a completely unique player because he plays every game at a "random" level of creativeness. He goes all in in every game, because every game is a different canvas for him to try his ideas on. Mozzarella or no Mozzarella - his creativity and the ability to put his opponent on so much pressure on so many angles is indeed a show to watch. The dynamics of his "way" of playing are beyond explanation. Don't try to understand or explain, just watch and immerse yourself. Thank you for the great commentary!

Easily one of the most exciting series of matches I've seen. Both are incredible players.

I come back to this time and time again after seeing a normal match to just get me in the mood for starcraft since here the "normal" is broken, for Has by defaults it's his style, for Khelazhur because he had to adapt, thus resisting quite long, even if unable to win due to being on foreign ground. And I just noticed that the last game has had Has freestyling all the way through and even played macro, something that he doesn't usually do. And did it nice.

First game - Terran player won but didn't know what he was doing.
If you have the ability to lift your buildings off and move them to a new mineral patch that is FAR AWAY FROM THE SHIELD BATTERIES, then you just do it. There was nothing to defend, but he was holding his position which is what drew that out.

Not even 4 minutes in, THIS is how Protoss in real life would "play".
If you have fuckin shield-recharge tech, and vehicles with extremely hardened shields, of course you'd cheeze the hell out of that to every single advantage you can get. Hilariously this cheezy play is actually more realistic than the traditional "lets not build more than 1 shield battery (or never bother) because, restraint and save minerals".
If we ever had the displeasure of fighting against protoss IRL, this is what they would do. They'd just abuse their shield and teleport tech like nuts for every upper-hand they can get. So fucking awesome to see a player thinking FRESH and not just stuck in a build-order loop.
