I think it's insane that you actually take time to experience scenes you plan on writing in order to write them accurately. I don't think many writers do things like that so it makes you really standout as a writer.
Agreed, big respect
The bond between teacher and student is nothing truly unbreakable. I like to think of it as intertwining your spirits.
The sword master is so playfull and humble.
you need more subs, your videos are SO AWESOME! Like the production value is insane!!!!
Glad you like them!
I have taught melee combat for three decades. The fighting aspect of combat is different from forms. I love forms, but what you will learn by training for actual combat will be different. If you are looking to write realistic combat in Belladonna, it may be worth it to also explore melee combat beyond forms.
This looks like it was a lot of fun but so hard at the same time!
I really loved this video alot mel, thanks for sharing this with us.
Sending love and respect to you from India 🇮🇳💪❤
This video is awesome! I watch your writing videos also and they inspire me alot. Your videos keep getting better it's awesome! It looked very challenging
good for you to go and get that experience. respect.
you got a video out on lost island and your main channel, dang good job.
Watching you living life and going for what you want is quite inspiring. You are actively creating the live that you want for yourself, not many people can say that. I wish you all the best!
I wasn't familiar with you or your work until I saw this video. I think it goes without saying how remarkable it is that you go above/beyond for your craft. As others have said below, it takes a special kind of creative to do that. Never stop being cool. *old-school sword sound-effect SHING!*
This journey is so cool!
Thank u for ur amazing content mel
These videos- and the quality are so fun to watch!!
I see a Thai Martial Art Master and not a foreigner. Hes act like a thai guy, with relaxation, kind, funny and the same time can be serious. Almost like my master when i was a kid back home. Anyway, thank you for this video and keep up the good work.😃👏👏👏
He's been living here for a while and speaks fluent Thai! Such an inspiration. Thanks for watching :))
This journey and youtube seties is so amazing!!

I cried. T-T
Keep up the good work Mel
Bravo for surviving that week ! I wanted to add that swords are nice and all but boy oh boy are they dangerous. I've been learning swords (swording ? I'm not a native english speakers so don't know the word, sorry) for a few months now, and oh dear is it scarier than I thought.
I mean, I'm kinda ranting by now but I really just want to add as an example that the sword of one of the teachers is called clement. Why ? Because if that giant two handed sword hit you (with deadly intentions) then you'd be dead before having time to suffer. So she's clement. Because you die before suffering. Very nice.
It's called fencing and your English is quite amazing for a non native speaker.
Also the back story behind the name Clement sounds pretty cool and a bit funny :p
Excellent brother... 🙏
Lovely! Thanks for bringing Krabi Krabong to more individuals ❤️
Amazing....i love Krabi Krabong
Pedro seems so cool! I wish my martial arts teacher was like that!
i guess your video managed to hold the attention of the audience very, very well.I really loved how much time you took to edit it. Watching this has really got me interested in "martial arts" too. You're going the right path ...keep it up👏🏼👍🏼..& i hope u get better at jump roping😄.All the best!.
This looks so cool, I want to write movie scripts and try things to experience scenes I plan on writing
Good job brother
I would love to have an opportunity like this. You are very lucky
Big lols on the art chosen but great travelogue.
Mel thank you so much. I can't wait to tell my children about you when they ask for an author they can rely on.
Ikr
Somewhere in the process of watching this, I had a thought that if I have a daughter(s) then Mel has to be one of the girls I introduce her to as role models she/they could look up to.
@@vm99125 Yep✨
Pedro Solana is what I imagine a dual-wielding sword man looks like.
I plan to train with Pedro in 6 months and I guess that is why youtube showed me your video. I have to say that it is really impressive to see you do this. I've been preparing for a year so it won't be as big of a shock as it was for you. That is impressive really and imho the world needs more people like this. Muay Thai is almost pure pain at first, double swords made me feel like my brain was a rubik's cube or something and it took a while to get it lined up, and the meditation lengths are intense. I've slowly built up to about 4 hours a day training over about a year but just jumping in from 0 to 100% is intense and shows how strong our species is capable of being. I'm more of the "slow and gradual" type. Where i just show up every day and add a little more over time. Doing that for a year or two compounds almost exponentially
You're doing it the right way for sure! I'm so happy to hear that you're planning to train with Pedro soon. I hope the experience will be as life-changing for you as it has been for me. If you ever want to meet up for coffee in Chiang Mai or something shoot me an email as I'll still be here then. Wishing you the best!
Very inspiring. I am an aspiring film maker and I really wish I could do the same one day.
Go for it!
8:07 was just PERFECT!
Hello there I love that you're doing martial arts so you can better write fighting in you're story. I too have had double sword training in filipino martial arts. You said in your video that your coordination went from average to non existent the moment you held the swords, in filipino martial arts we have double weapon coordination drills that can help with that. It's called sinawali there's a lot of tutorials on it on youtube if you're interested in trying. If you get it down along with proper footwork most of the dual sword techniques pretty much become a piece of cake.
I’m half Filipino!! I’ve been really thinking about trying sinawali :) thanks for the advice!
@@MelTorrefranca So that's why you have asian features nice I'm pure filipino myself haha. You know it'd be cool if you also made a video about learning sinawali or some style of filipino martial art
My my, is that a reference to one of your first books. “The sky weeps with us?” 8:05
Look at you, so clever
what do you do for living and for these wonderful adventures ??
Nice
Michael Reeves still playing with knives... LOVE IT
Do you have any video explaining your book in a nutshell? Or is it already published?
pedro is so cool, i want to meet him
In the past thai student need to learn subject name Krabi brabong it's like sword fighting but it's sucks because teacher don't want us to having a real fight or know how to fight so they just let us use the wooden sword to 'dance' for 2 or 3 times and done
We need to do this for 6 years and every thing is use less!!!!
But for muay thai the art is very dangerous and teacher don't want us to learn accept of my school
When i was grade 7 they teach muay thai for pe class and that's is pretty great hope the education system will teach us more
Damn, look like I really need to write a book or something aswell. I need an excuse to move country's and learn swordfighting from a dude with a fancy Stache
what was the name of the ceremony?
0:07 😁 looks like Micheal Reeves
❤❤❤❤
Is the movie in the works already?
I'm glad to see that Michael Reeves does something besides tech
Playing dandiya without music 😂
what a handsome little boy 😂
8:05 I see what you did there 😂
This is very honorable. And cute=)
Wow you're super good looking
The amount of effort you put in your books is insane! This was super fun to watch.
And btw Dreynschlag has great resources for sword-fighting lessons, you might like to check their playlists!- th-cam.com/users/Dreynschlag
Krabi krabong
กระปี่กระบอง in art it's great and dangerous but in the thai school teacher teach us nothing!!!!!
Michel that you? When did you genderswitch?
โอ เดี๋ยวนี้ฝรั่งสอนศิงปะป้องกันตัวไทยแล้ว
Great to see Pedro getting more exposure l, I’ve been studying his videos for years, nice work! 🙏🏽🥷🏽
