The last of the Miss Texas winning streak. Five (5) winners from Texas consecutively. I miss the pageant of the last 80's. Very memorable. I remember writing down all the scores in a yellow paper which I still keep in my memorabilia box.
Songs: New Jersey (The Lover In Me - Sheena Easton) Colorado (Together Foverer - Rick Astley) Louisiana (You Came - Kim Wilde) Oklahoma (Tell It to My Heart - Taylor Dayne) California (Chicago Song - David Sanborn) Illinois (Always on My Mind / In My House - Pet Shop Boys) Texas Pennsylvania (I Can't Help it - Bananarama) Arizona (How Will I know - Whitney Houston) Georgia (Headin' For a Heartcache - Elisa Fiorillo)
This is my favorite pageant ever. When vcr's came out, i taped this one and watched over and over. My fav part? ... the music they played after announcing each of the top 10.
A handful of the Top 10 competed in Star Search in the Spokesmodel category. Elizabeth Primm and Jill Sheiffert both lost to Bobbie Brown but then Bobbie lost the final to Debbie James. Bobbie was Louisiana Teen USA 1987. Interesting. Then LeeAnne Locken and Michelle Nemith would go up against each other on Star Search 90 with Michelle winning after they tied with the judges.
Was Miss Oklahoma US not liked? I asked because when she arrived in the semi-finalists's row there was no interation between her and Miss Colorado that she stood next to. Additionally, when Miss Illinois USA came down there wS no interaction between them. There were no sincere and significant interactio between Miss OK USA and Miss TX USA when they were the last 2 standing. OK USA was my pick for the winner. I think if she had used her sign langiage skill it may have given enough leverage to secure the judges' votes. What became of her....what is she doing with her life?
Texas was the only with a score over 9 so she already had the advantage. I think GuyRex still owned the franchise to California and I see their delegate looked like Christie Fichtner 2.0

OMG..Miss Illinois so gorgeous
Louisiana was gorgeous.
The era of puff sleeves, polka dots and ruffles...😊
And Aqua Net 😁
Miss USA should have won the Miss Universe 1989. She is so gorgeous and stunning.
She is stunning but Angela Visser from Holland is more stunning.
She was gorgeous. Of the 5 Texas winners in a row the most beautiful and deserving.
I don’t think so.... Angele Visser is a clear winner that year!
I would have her as 1st runner up, but no one was beating Angela Visser that year, one of the most beautiful Miss Universe winners ever in my opinion.

Texas and California also competed on Star Search before they got to the pageant. Coincidentally, they competed against each other with Texas winning.
Miss Louisiana is stunning! Miss Arizona is that crazy chick from the Real Housewives of Dallas. She is batshit cray cray.
The music played when the SF were called was from a great era.
I like MISS USA 1989
The backdrop looks like a haunted house.
Miss Colorado entered every contest she could, and married Bob Eubanks from Newlywed Game
The Aquanet , Bows & Ruffles Era !!
